If you want to see the perspective on games from people who grew up in the 2000s/2010s and not the 1990s, those people have channels, but it is going to be a few years before they're 30 & will have supplanted '90s/'80s kids in professional outlets.

Reviewer is unprepared. Contra Galuga is utilising nostalgia to bring the franchise back on the map. Most features you see are from the franchise, including the bikes, hanging on ledges (from Sega Contra)

Bill and lance are depicted as a macho soldier. Meaning its not necessary to give them a complex characteristics. Not because its one dimensional. In fact, it will kill their character if u tried to give them more, thats their style from the very beginning.
My criticism of the criticism is that he says the story parts break up the action & slows it down however does not this game have an Arcade mode that gets rid of the Story bits giving that stream line experience to those who want it?

This is exactly what some of us want. Some of us have given up on video games because we simply don't enjoy what new games offer. Games like this are what keep us in the gaming market.
Factual errors in the review make it difficult to take the review seriously. For instance, early, the reviewer says that, while this game seems story-wise like a sequel to the first Contra, it plays more like a remake. However, the developer has said in interviews it is a remake, hence the OG in the title. Later, the reviewer says this game borrows from Contra 4 the ability to carry two weapons, and, in a neat twist from Contra 4, you can pick up the weapon you are carrying a second time to power it up. However, Contra 4 does in fact allow the player to pick up a weapon a second time to power it up. In general, it seems the reviewer has a casual interest in the Contra series but wasn't there from the beginning and doesn't understand it very well.
Contra veterans know that its a mix of stages from 1, Super C, 4 and Hard corps, can’t believe they let a person who played only the first Contra review the new one!

If you want a less traditional but spectacular take on Contra, Hard Corps: Uprising by Arcsys (which is a Contra game despite the naming) is excellent. Just be aware that it's extremely difficult.

This is all Contra 3 stuff. Hard Corps adapted a few things to the Genesis to make it work. Love most of the series.
