Really enjoyed seeing all your makes. And OOOO, even worse than no pockets would be pockets that dupe you into thinking they're functional, but then they aren't! Such betrayal! Glad you took the time to get them to realize their full potential.

The Anthea Blouse is one of my absolute favourites. I've already made two and there are several more I want to make, but I wonder how many of the exact same blouse I can really justify owning... Now I'm thinking the hacks you used can buy me at least another two or three versions! For what it's worth, I never thought I would like the high neckline on me either, but actually I really love it in the original Anthea. Thanks for sharing all your makes and alterations. Love your Jenny overalls, I have the pattern printed & put together but need to decide on size. The t-shirt is a perfect pairing with the plaid overalls. I too was looking at your anthem blouse during the whole film thinking how cute it is and the sleeves are perfect! Love the lower neckline as well. Is it safe to assume you are doing a backstitch to assemble the hand sewn blouse? It is looking fantastic and to do the French seams as well. Truly a slow sewing project that will be cherished for years to come.❤. I will watch your shirring video… I made a Fisterra top ( itch to stitch?) And pulled the elastic just a bit too tight (5 or 6 rows worth) but I like the top. Your Glenelly top looks great, I need to revisit that pattern & I’m thinking I’d like the neckline ribbing a bit wider. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing of your sewing journey. 🥰.

I completely agree with you regarding the satisfaction of making simple alterations. I don’t know why it can be such a mental block. I love your Anthea blouse. I'm inspired to make it in pink or teal, too. I've recently altered a T-shirt, shortened elbow length sleeves adding arm bands on the hems, plus replaced a worn neckband with the material I cut off the sleeves. I really love your Anthea blouse. Like you I was put off by the high neckline but didn't know about the option to change it and am now very keen to try this pattern. I also really like your dungarees, they are just perfect in that fabric. I should say that in the UK there is a distinction between dungarees and overalls. Overalls are something usually worn by garage mechanics or agricultural workers (and not terribly flattering!) and I think it is worthwhile to keep the distinction as they are two very different garments.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  ปีที่แล้ว

So glad to share the Anthea Blouse hack. It's such a good option! I use both terms: overalls and dungarees because I'm American, and we use the word overalls for that garment. I'd worn this finished toile version because it was so much effort I just didn't want to make it again. I also made the Glenelly top and had to size up. My original fit me exactly like yours fits you. 😊 The 2nd one is much better and really shows off the square neckline.
I just finished making the Cashmerette Selwyn top. I lowered the neckline because it felt like it was choking me in the muslin. Please double-check that before you attach the collar. I'm so impressed that you're doing it all by hand! I put in the flounces, and then didn't like them, so I removed them and self drafted cap sleeves. Much better for me.

Hi there. First of all, thank you for the wonderful videos. I love your thoughtful content. You REALLY suit the anthea blouse. It looks perfect on you. I've been put off by the high neckline too but a now off to buy the pattern. Your matikda dress fabricis beautiful too. In terms of small fixes, I am working my way through a list of them right now. I made a shirt dress that ended up looking like a nightie😂 so it's now a shirt. Much better. Also added some elastic to a Rosalie wrap dress wrap tomake it hold its shape better. Not as exciting as a brand new project but so satisfying to have the garments back in my wardrobe.

Thanks for sharing :) re: inseam pockets, I never use these, I find them almost useless. I almost always use the pockets from the luna pants (made by rae) for pretty much anything with a horizontal seam that I can sew it into. I make the Montana dress often (Style Arc) and always use the luna pant pockets for this. I'd love to make the Sydney dress (Style Arc) but am put off my the in-seam pockets, and can't change them for side seam pockets due to the design - and I can't contemplate making or wearing a dress without pockets :) I love watching what you have made and are making, so thank you for taking time to go through it all with us. I am also going through my wardrobe, working out why I don't reach for certain items, and changing them if I can. Thanks again :)

Your overalls and T look like a perfect pairing. I made a similar shade v neck T about 6 weeks ago which I haven't posted as it was meant to go with a coordinating shirred version ballad blouse. I am trying to finish that project. Good reminder about your tutorial. I practiced shirring with some elastic thread meant for knitting projects and it worked great. Unfortunately the actual shirring elastic behaves differently and I am struggling to achieve my desired effect. I will rewatch your video and go at it again. Meantime I cut out the Style Arc Richmond Utility skirt in another fabric that coordinates so I will have a capsule wardrobe for fall travel plans. I applaud your progress on the gorgeous handsewn blouse. Love the cute Anthea blouse hacks. I should consider the pattern now. I usually go for quite a full gathered bodice on my blouses but it might be good to try a different silhouette. Happy sewing!

I had to re hem one of my staples - a pair of cords. When I hemmed it I was unsure which shoes I’d wear it with and have been wearing runners with it.
Washed them after a holiday and the herringbone stitch that was holding up the hem gave out.
Rehemmed them to the right length for the runners, but noticed wear in the gusset that needs reinforcing.
I know it’s worthwhile but it’s just tedious so now it’s languishing in the mending pile!

I jumped into stretch knits - which is not something I’ve done a lot. I made/will make breastfeeding tops and a dress for my youngest and from the scraps I made a long sleeve onsie for baby Amanita. I even did a little appliqué on the front! Have plans to make a little pair of pants to coordinate, a wrap sweater, and the Irena knit top from Itch to Stitch. Might also make the Mile End sweatshirt. I want to make myself an Adrienne blouse and another pair of my hacked Yanta overalls, maybe in linen or wool suiting.

Your plans all sound wonderful. I made a load of applique onesies for some of my cousins years ago when they had their babies. It was such a fun project and absolutely adorable!

Do you notice that you have to iron your overall straps after pulling them out of the dryer? I have to iron all of mine (not the body, just the straps) regardless of fabric.

I don't actually put my handmade clothes in the dryer. I always hang them to dry, so it's never been an issue for me. Sounds like a pain, though!

What brand of thread do you use?

I almost exclusively use gutterman thread these days.

Hi. Have you considered a piece of elastic in the overalls back waistband to help it hug the body?
Find your vlogs very helpful and thanks for the free cashmerette pattern!!!

That's a really helpful suggestion! After wearing them a bit, I'm considering extending the back yoke because they pull up a bit. We try to perfect the fit but sometimes it goes a little awry. Can't win them all!
