Agreed, the N64 should have gotten a Super Gameboy of some kind. Pretty sure the SNES is capable of playing Gameboy Color games but the system was dead by the time GBC came out. It would have been interesting if Nintendo went with CD's instead of cartridges for the N64.
Hard agree on the N64 Super Game Boy, but like I said, the N64 was too far in development to switch to CDs and a CD-ROM drive would've made the system even more expensive for Nintendo to produce, and/or for consumers to purchase. How good the games turned out wouldn't mean anything if the consumer couldn't afford the console (the 3DO, Neo Geo CD, and Sega Saturn found that out the hard way).
There was some kind of attachment for the 64 to play Pokemon only on the big screen. But I’m not well versed in late 90s Nintendo.
