  • Yes! Latex house paint and we all have some laying around. Mix approximately 2 parts paint to 1 water(paints and ratios may vary) and 'Dip' your glassware. The coating is flat and even. Watch the video for more information and tips. You will have to give it a try! This is an alternative masking method for cups in the rotary. Have not tried dipping a flat sheet. I would like to see if someone does try and how they are doing it. Enjoy the video and tips! I hope you find something useful.
You can see more detailed information on the website.

You're the first person Ive found using this machine that wasn't a paid sponsor. Thank you so much for documenting you laser journey. I predict in the next year your channel will explode. Best content Ive seen on this subject. Thanks a lot for all the effort. Keep em coming.

Hi Mike! Wow! Thank you! I may be new to lasers but I have a lot of CAD and graphic background so it's been a fun and interesting journey so far. Didn't plan on this at all. Started by posting a video to help someone out with a problem they were having. I'm still playing catch up with the website and organizing things. Have a few video ideas I'm wanting to do. One is a just a tips video. Nothing but my hacks and workarounds. There are a bunch of tips scattered in the different videos. Be nice to have them all in one video.. Or a good start anyway.. Always coming up with new stuff :) Thanks again!

Since it is coated on both inside and outside from dipping it the laser probably is etching both sides, the inside might be hotter so it flakes more (just my thoughts). The inside similar to the clear acrylic trick.

An air pocket keeps anything from getting on the inside of the cups. Only coated on the outside. Works great.

Great videos they are a great help. I am new to lasers just got my first d1. I am using laserbox software because they said it's great for beginners but I can not sync the grid in laserbox with the d1 do u have any tips on how I can do that or should I just start using lightburn? Also how did or where did u get your table grid?
    Your tips are greatly appreciated.

Thank you and glad you find the vidoes helpful! In LaserBox, near the top on the right side is a blue button. Next to it is a pull down menu. Select your D1 in the pull down. You have to select an item in the view screen for any of the options to become active. LaserBox is a lot easier to use and I would stay with it until you are more comfortable and need more options.

The table grid I came up with myself just to have some idea on alignment. There are a bunch of grid files out there. The groups on Facebook have a bunch you can download or check on Etsy. Mine is nothing special and needs to be modified before I burn it to a new board for the new encloser.

Thank you for the quick reply that worked. now while engraving the laser keeps popping/skipping like if the belt is loose I have tightened the belt and still have that popping noise and everything I engrave the image come out blurry.
Again thank your for taking the time to help.

@@robertsandoval2531 If it happens when the laser is near the edges it is probably cause you are traveling outside its limits. When i first set mine up i was still trying trying to figure out how it works and it happened to me. The alignment laser is 16mm offset from the actual diode laser. If you use the alignment laser near the edges while framing, then during the actual operation the head will move an additional 16mm past where you had initially positioned it cause the diode has to travel where your red alignment laser was. This machine does not have limit stops, you have to account for it on your own.
If it happens while just in travel during the process then maybe a belt is too tight or there is an obstruction. Find out which direction it happens in and check the belt for that direction. Also mine was shipped with grease preapplied and dust particles and debris inside the box had stuck to it so check the rails and slide your finger down them to clean debris from the rails. Move your head manually in both directions to full limit and see if you can feel the obstruction. I hope this helps.

New to the Xtool D1. Are you using the 10W module? I have a 5W and I’m curious if I can do this with my laser?

Hi Michael.. Welcome! I do have a 10w and waiting on my 20w. I'm not sure if the glass can be etched with a 5w. Be slow going, but you give it all it's got as slow as you can and see what happens.

Are you running engraving or cutting when you do the glass

Engraving. Haven't tried cutting mode. Might be a good experiment.

Which material setting are you using to engrave the glass?

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't use any of the 'material' presets. I come up with my own. I use about 40 or 50mm/s for speed and 100% power for cups on the rotary.
