Maybe that's why you don't like facing them. Gotta learn the spots to shoot them. If not, you can always shoot the barrel out. You can also shoot the mg out if you're in something like an M56, but you will then have its gun online, though no one shot with ann mg!
I found a help for no-depression tanks. When your engine is in 1 piece, just reverse. Then you'll see gun is going down further than normally and its your chance to set a shell in someone's tank.
- They use a Panther II which has one of the strongest guns in its tier to "demo" how to deal with an IS-6 from the front... when the IS-6 is just sitting there, immobile, face forward, just waiting for the Panther II to line up the perfect shot in that TINY turret weak spot. Good luck getting an IS-6 player to just stand still like that and let you hit that spot. - 2:22 shows a trick trap-shot (just put the video on slow speed and you'll see that was a trap shot not a standard hit) and says "hit the turret" when we all know the turret is impenetrable from that side also unless you have a really strong gun. Insulting video!

If you aim at the bottom of the turret facing the front of the tank, there is a pretty high chance your shell will defect straight down into it and do some serious damage
Hey Gaijin, any chance you can do one of these for dealing with Heavy Bombers? Especially the BV238. It spawns high, carries enough bombs to take several bases in one run, and its defensive armament is lethal. Add to that the overall newer player base demographics found at these tiers, and a crash course on bomber hunting is in order. What I’ve found so far: 1: aim for the engines or cockpit. The fuselage on most heavy Bombers will aboard your shots with no problem, while they tear you apart with their heavy defensive fire. Instead, you need to either end the fight immediately, or cripple their ability to continue the run. The Wings, especially the wing roots, are prime targets, and engine fires-even when they don’t kill-will leave the bomber struggling to maintain altitude. 2: hit fast. Defensive gunners have a rather difficult job, as aiming from a moving post while your target also moves adds an extra level of confusion to calculations. Don’t make their job easier by parking on their tail for long periods of time. Ideally, you want to go in from the front or sides, but when that’s not an option, make sure your closing speed is high enough that you spend very little time in their sights. 3: hit early. If you have ignored Bombers until your air base is vulnerable, it’s likely too late. It takes time to reach an altitude and airspeed where you can engage the Bombers, so start doing so early. Climb at the start of the match, and climb towards one of the bombing targets on your side. Ideally, you want to hit around 3500m by this point at low tiers, 5000m at higher ones, and in either case, you want to be able to hold at least 320kph IAS, and generally more. While this is advice that works for dogfights as well, it is essential for bomber interception
You can actually kill it pretty easily because of a little something I call the “trap shot” the IS-6 suffers from the same problem as most German panthers of the 4.7-5.4 tiers, the mantlet on the turret has a vicious angle and is a deflection machine, but you can use that to your advantage, if you can get it to look at you, aim on the lower half of the mantlet, the closer to the cannon barrel the better, but make sure you shoot below the gun, the angling on the mantlet will cause the shell to ricochet downward into the middle of the hull right under the turret, APBC is the best for this sort of work, but is a guaranteed one shot kill if done correctly, I did it with a m18 today (more than willing to send the footage too) just about any caliber (75mm and up can bring a good shell to the table) can kill it instantly

HEAT-FS can bounce, but less than regular penetrators. If you want to hit stupid angles use HE or HESH. AFAIK, even the 105mm STUG can one shot it from the front with HE.
Yes, they deserve some money, they have to feed their families too. But, by enabling players to pay for some extra edge is not fair. IS6 is pure example of that. RU is another, etc..

They have made a few of these. Notably, how to kill the jumbo, and that one isn't too strong at all. just flank it and it's dead. At its BR, essentially the same for the IS-6.

Here’s a good way of taking these things. 1st take out the Gun Barrel, after that put one in the tracks and come around the side and out on in the turret. Another way of doing it is by aiming for the Turret ring or the mantlet. ( if you have enough penetration )
Because new players won't be able to destroy them and panic whenever they see one. When I first found Jumbos, I pannicked and rolled away as fast as possible. Now, I just fire in track level and MM-port trapshot them all day long.
If you meet the is-6 in even ground and u can get the first shot and you dont trust the game mechanics (like rng bounce, round vanish in black hole on perfect shot on the side of the turret, etc) try to disable the barrel first, after that its u can disable/ kill it. Works against well tanks with high caliber gun.
I found that if you shoot a HEAT at the portion of the front of the hull at the top right of the driver's hatch and below the gunner's position, it can have about a 80% chance of destroying the tank, or you can knock out the gunner and driver in one hit.

Fire on the side-skirts, where armor is weak and flat. Any shell at that tier will pen. And if it's facing you, fire at the cannon barrel, and proceed to get to his side/rear
To stop an IS-6 using Panzer VI, use APCR, go behind, trial and error. Not working? Try the turret ring (If you can). You can replace your normal AP shells with those APCRs
nope just shoot at the gunner sight or close tu the turret ring. since the armor is not correctly modelized the round will go down directly into the tank like pure magic
The best way to deal with the IS-6 in arcade battles is to call in multiple artillery strikes on it to soften it up, or hit it from the air if a strike is available. If that doesn't kill it, it will often damage it enough that I can rush it and hope for the best.
well... shoot right below of the gun shield? shell sometimes bounced by gun shield and hits the upper hull which is very thin. i shoot that when i faced is-6's front with 240mm pen, and sometimes it work.
Honestly it’s a trick and doesn’t always work but if you aim for the low part of the turret and you can get it to bounce into the hull your guaranteed to kill, that’s what I’ve done with my t29 and tiger 2
Tiger II (H) with its longbarrel 88 shooting next to its gun, usually a oneshotkill. Same strategy with Jagdtiger, Panther II, Tiger II 10,5. As a Leopard of any Kind or as MKpz47 simply load HEAT-FS and chew right trough his armor while outflanking him with topspeed.
I love how the devs don’t actually fight the IS-6 in your average battle. I’ve shot the side of the turret on the Is-6 at 50 meters with the jagdtiger and it still ricocheted
Do an Underdog Show, basically which tier 1 vehicle is the most lethal up to Tier 6 threats. Pz IIH, SdKz 221, BT5, M22, Tetrarch, Su-5-1 are all kind of neck and neck.

This video would made sense when this tank was 6.7, now literally anything can pen the IS-6, not saying one shot from the front, but 2-3 shells and you are gone while repairing :D
If he is charging you at high speed over bumps hitting the weak (well, its not weak, more like "not as insanely tough") mantlet can be hard. If you have a tank with a good turret like the T29/34/M103 charge back and ram right into him. He cant get his gun down to shoot your weak hull. Move your turret around so he can't hit your weak spot at the optics port, try to just shoot his barrel to kill his gun or shoot his turret on his left, your right to kill the gunner and possible the whole tank. Never take a side shot unless he isn't angled. Better to not shoot and not get his attention, be 100% sure you will cripple or kill him before firing. Still, with all that said maybe the scariest tank to fight in the game.

Actually, there is a place to pen on the Hull. It is the plating just above the tracks and can be penned extremely well from there.

New HESH buff, Conqueror can reliably 1shot the IS-6 through the upper front plate with it now. If you have a Conqueror, learn to use HESH.
Do an Underdog Show, basically which tier 1 vehicle is the most lethal up to Tier 6 threats. Pz IIH, SdKz 221, BT5, M22, Tetrarch, Su-5-1 are all kind of neck and neck.

This video would made sense when this tank was 6.7, now literally anything can pen the IS-6, not saying one shot from the front, but 2-3 shells and you are gone while repairing :D

If angled, shoot the cheeks. Or shoot at right side of gun. The OP days of IS-6 is long gone..

go for it's gunner sight you have about a 50% chance of it exploding or it's gunner being dead
If he is charging you at high speed over bumps hitting the weak (well, its not weak, more like "not as insanely tough") mantlet can be hard. If you have a tank with a good turret like the T29/34/M103 charge back and ram right into him. He cant get his gun down to shoot your weak hull. Move your turret around so he can't hit your weak spot at the optics port, try to just shoot his barrel to kill his gun or shoot his turret on his left, your right to kill the gunner and possible the whole tank. Never take a side shot unless he isn't angled. Better to not shoot and not get his attention, be 100% sure you will cripple or kill him before firing. Still, with all that said maybe the scariest tank to fight in the game.
