- Today we’re going to pit yet another two vehicles of War Thunder against each other. The first contender is representing the most-produced tank series in the world...it’s the Soviet T-55A. Its opponent is the modified version of the already great M60A1...it’s the American M60A1 RISE (P)

Umm I dunno about you but T-55A survives more ATGM hits because of the fuel tank at front absorbing most of the damage.
The fuel for ruskii tonks are biased to absorb more shot than normal (im talking serious)

The t55a... what an amazing tank. In real life and in game. U know that feeling when u just know u gonna do good in a tank. Both t62 and t55a give me that feeling.
It would be nice to have the correct historical armor for the M60A1 mantlet and not the 127mm we get in game
T55 armor is rong its 250mm in the torret
and 150 in the Uper plat

Its funny cause the M60A1 is now 8.7 and the t55a is 8.0
Well, M60A1 RISE did good enough job during Desert Storm even if it was obsolete by then but marines love their tanks =)

It wasnt obsolete, it was upgraded almost to m60a3 standard. It had thermal sights with laser rangefinders and strong depleted uranium rounds.
There are several moments where you can see the tests are rigged or messed up. Like at 1:46 if you watch the M60 it turns slightly before they start pivoting, or at 2:03 the T-55 stops turning twice when the camera focuses on the M60

Nico B t55 doesn't see t64 in RB which are harder to kill than mbt70. The t55 has a greater advantage. Also 72000 for good apfsds round rather than 206,000.

Non ERA tank vs ERA cant compare them. All non ERA tanks should be at 8.3, ERA at 8.7 and 9.0 and modern composite armor tanks at 9.3 and above

Last time i saw a T-55 survived in combat somewhere in the Middle East , someone shot a HEAT missile and it barely miss the turret head of the tank.
You forgot about the T55A being Russian,so it had Russian Bias! The M60 loses every time when you incorporate that in!
No mention about T-55A's fuel tank at the front of the tank, that can block HEAT-FS and even APDS? Interesting.
Well ofcoruse the T55 wins in mobility and armour, Because nobody uses HEAT based projectiles at 8.7 (APFSDS galore)
On the other hand, The M60 has the gun. Which makes the T55 an excellent brawler and since 90% of the time abondoned factory is the usual map, The T55 wins...(russian yet again..)

Tiger 2 (H) vs T 29. Tiger 2 is superior in every direction in my opinion.
The Mature people 4real I have both. Tiger ii has better mobility very slightly worse turret armor formally speaking only great hull side armor and frontal hull armor and the gun is ok but fails to pen upper glacius of t29 at any range. It can shoot through the mantlet of t29 and pierce the 25mm spall sheild and kill the tank. The t29s only advantage is the strong turret and good gun its mobility is lacking. My opinion the Tiger 2 is better only marginally. Because t29 has many weakspots and tiger 1 can shoot under mantlet and it will detonate fragging the ammo through the roof that is quite weak

Hello Warthunder! I fell in love with your game just after playing my first battle! I have heard that You are going to add modern tanks to the game, white I find as a good idea. On the other hand, I would love to play some WWI tanks (especially the Mark IV or the german behemoth K-wagen). Will You consider adding those to Your awesome game?

Video mentions that APFSDS goes through anywhere. He was referring to the tank vs. HEATFS and APHE.

So if the M60A1 RISE is better than a T-55A, why do they both get a BR of 8.7? Wouldn't it make more sense to lower the T-55A's BR if it's supposedly worse than an M60A1 RISE?
njits23 Any vehicle that causes even a slight challenge to British and American tankers make them complain in the community, and Soviet and German tankers find themselves at an enormous disadvantage. Soviet and German ww2 tanks are seeing 1955 tanks at the same br, while Soviet and German guns need to aim at weakspots, the British and American guns point and click anywhere in the enemy armor, at the same br.

TBH, I don't actually know what playing American high tier tanks are like, but I've never had much trouble playing most Soviet, German and British vehicles. I was just trying to point out a discrepancy in their balancing.
I think it is because of the smaller profile and slightly better turning is why the t-55 is at the same BR. Since neither tank can survive on the front lines, that would mean that ambushes or flanking would need to be done, which the t-55 would have an advantage. I don’t have ether vehicle so this is just speculation using info from the video.

The T-55A isn't "the most produced tank in the world" --> approximatively 42.800 Tanks were produced (all variants).
The Older but noneless know M4 "Sherman" was produced at approximatively 49.200 tanks (all variants and without prototypes).

they have to be precise : T55 =/= T54
T 55 is a variant of the T54 the russians just decided to change the number of the tank.
Nope again: T-55 has a different armor type than the T-54 --> that make of it a completely new tank.
So the T-54's shouldn't still counted in.
t55 doesn't have a new armor type. they just added a radiation liner to the original t54 hull.

Neutral steer isn't as good as it should be so actually the T-54 lost that turning fight. You didn't mention angle on the hulls which is important because as well as increasing effective thickness, the armour pen value drops.

Seriously love the RISE. Almost more than the MBT. Love trolling ATGMs. It has very good survivability. Even hit and pinned you have a good chance of surviving. More than likely the MBT will be killed in 1 shot

tataveve_ angel The Leo is faster, has a better reload time and a wider gun arch (-9° 20° vs -6° 9°), while the STB-1 has better armour and better climbing.
i dont think saying just because the t 55 has a smoke generator that it's equal to the smoke launchers it'g good. the smoke is launched infront of it as the t 55 is still slighlty visible and would have to move to make an effective smoke screen wich is why love the btr's smoke screen. the little bugger can move fast and put up a good wall of smoke.

Seems a bit unfair comparing an effectively base model T-55A against a M60 with ERA packages - surely the more appropriate competition would be between a M60A1 RISE (P) and a T-55 w/ ERA (AMV/AM2B etc), or a T-55A and a M60A1?
no this was was actually quite accurate(unlike the T-64A vs MBT-70 video), M60 is the winner by a very slightly difference but he cupola totally ruins that tank.

The Soviet Bias with its good MG's can just SHOOT the ERA with the MG. Then you can EASILY pen.
this was _not_ fair. the T-55 and the normal M-60 are of the same era, not the RISE. there are modified versions of the T-55 with added armor and such, _that_ would be a fair comparison, this was kinda bias.

T-54/55 was not better than the M-60 because it was planned to be created in large numbers. Who would win 200 m60 vs 600 t-54/55 ? Of course the russian tanks because even if they were REALLY bad they would have won.

It's funny how you say T55 has thicker turret front (in your game) while M60A1 should have around 300mm LOS armor thickness up front...
You see, the reason T-55 is slower at reverse is because it's Vodka Drunk Engine and Gearbox don't accept Reverse Gears and only allows the tank to charge forwards, so the crew needs to push the tank backwards from the inside.
Hey Gaijin just give the T-55 the bastion missile to the its arsenal and the american machine will be out of order :D
