- Fighting this tank is a nightmare for many tankers in War Thunder. An almost invulnerable hulk of a tank with a quick-firing 75mm gun. A real pubstomper at its BR. Its name is... the Sherman Jumbo (M4A3E2 Jumbo)!

ah yes 61mm of HE pen and 185mm of HEAT pen and 19 second reaload is completly balanced for 1.3 im pretty sure this tank should be 10.3 cuz it can destroy modern tanks

So basically: “since you can really kill it from the front unless you’re really lucky you might as well disable its gun, cause there’s not much else you can do. Then, if you’re really lucky, you can get it’s track before it reverses into cover or repairs; and if you’re lucky enough to have all of that taken out, *maybe* you can flank it without getting shot by the other 2 jumbos backing it up and hope the jumbo doesn’t traverse on the track it has left so you can get around it and kill it from the side, since that’s basically the only spot you’ll be able to kill it from. Other than this method, you can also pray to RNGesus for a trap shot or the MG port that’s impossible to hit unless you’re at 10m and the jumbo is sitting still.”

T-34s were never really a problem to deal with, not even on lower BR.
UnfortuneLess the lower 76mm T-34s are fine. It’s the Russian tanks with the 57mm cannon. 145mm of pen with APHE with a 3 second reload time… And the Russian 57mm is based off the British 6 pounder (57mm) which only has about 100mm of pen.
I’d take a Russian 57mm over an American 76mm or German long 75mm any day. (Both have the same pen as the Russian 57mm but with at least twice the reload wait)

Oh yeah and the turret has a cupolar with only 80 mm of armor. You can use APHE to knock out the turret crew pretty easily. Handy for engaging hull-down jumbo's

Pz IV f2, APCR round through the turret cheeks once the turret is stationary.
Same for the engine.
I like the Pz4 as well, but don´t you think when playing in the Br range of a IS-6, that it is time to switch to a Panther or atleast a Jpz4/L70?

Many Miles Away, yeah the machine gun port is *not* a weakspot. It used to be, but not anymore. I used to be able to pen it pretty reliably in my Pz.IV (H), but ever since they adjusted its BR for some reason, even with a perfect hit, it either bounces or just doesn't penetrate.
I haven't played my Panzers for months because I got sick of the Jumbo spam.

Foxy Tube you can kill it with 1.3 br German SPAAs
Anything with more than 40 pen can kill it
You can kill it with the 25 on the milk truck
I killed a Super Pershing with an R3 once... Luckiest shot I've ever done. The projectile travelled trough the barrel straight into the loaded shell.

Just shoot in the sides (between tracks), it have the same armour there like other shermans.

@Muro lol what, effectively the only 'tanks' that can deal with front of jumbo around its br is panther A/D, one of which has neck issues. If you realize that something called bushes exist, you'll know that it's much harder in reality to aim for a specific weak spot. It has nothing to do with skills or brains. Either way Im still having fun with Tigers and Panthers, TigerP is nasty but why would you use a heavy tank when in a game of 1.0+ br

@Muro yes, a small MG port that you totaly can hit consistantly if the enemy is moving or angled, or if you're more than 200 meters of it, because the imprecise aim of the game and the dispersion rng. To help most players cover it with something. And don't forgot that usually jumbos shot back, and a lot of times first, since they're slower.
@Xander Arizona I always get uptiered when i play jumbo. Pen is not a problem usually for my enemies the people complaining right now I feel usually don’t get such bad matchups and usually feel fairly powerful. I mean jumbo mk1 had a 75mm that cannot reliably penetrate the tiger h1 which is always in matches now thanks to the br change for all shermans
I'm watching this as a Jumbo player trying to figure out what the enemies are trying to do to me. 🙃

Ahah, that never happens. You're always uptiered. Reduce the matchmaking to 0.7 or 0.3 instead of 1.0 and maybe few more vehicles will become useful too.

arash rahem T-34-85 is the only tank you need for tier 3 and 4 it handles every situations very well

The shot actually overpenned, you can see the sparks on the jumbo, and the MGs stop firing so the gunner's out
Also remember that if it tries to angle, most guns can pen the side armor behind the track... Especially German guns and Large caliber Soviet cannons
This is my way of playing war thunder:
"If you're spotted, dont get hit. If you're hit, don't be penetrated. If you're penetrated, don't be killed."

nope i once shot the jumbo in the front of the turret with a kv2 and it didnt do anything critical
The lower side armor plate is my personal Favorit Spot to Shot at = only 30mm thick/ your gonna penetrate it even at a high angle / most of the time you knock out the transmition , (engine fire) and 1 or 2 crew members / its a big spot you can hit
- aphe is the only shell you should use
- gunner is often still alive after the 1 shot

I have a signature tactic that I use on all sherman jumbos
Its in steps
1.) Shoot it
2.) Run away
3.) Shoot it again for good measure
If you have a 75mm or lower caliber gun, shoot its tracks. The shell will most likely bounce into the upper side floor which has under 20mm of armor. Basically, any shell that hits it there will pen. Depending on how close to the front hull plate you shoot, the more likely you are to take down his entire crew in one shot.
This should work at any range, although the shell does sometimes get soaked up by the tracks.

Tip: there are several guns in the jumbos br range that can pen its front plate. The soviet 85mm and 122mm, Upgrades german 88mm shells, the 75mm on the Pz V, the 105mm on the dicker max, and all varients of the kv2
When using the panther, i usually shoot the turret ring of the jumbo and goes through 100% of the time. I only do that when I was jumpscared by a jumbo and had to kill it from the front

There is actually an other weak spot, the side armor behind the tracks is quite thin compared to the “normal” side armor and even when angled some shells will penetrate it, and it’s quite a big spot to aim at

There is so many problems with this video, first when you shoot his gun barell isint 100% that you will destroy it and also there probably be another jumbo or other tank next too him, second 4 part should have been first i have no problem aimin at mashine gun and its easier than shooting his barell and later tracks and finaly showing kv2 trap shooting when you can kill jumbo throw hull

angle your armor to around 45 degrees, and be aware of your surroundings. don´t stack your tank full with ammo! A few AP-shells should be enough!
Robin Selz also use cover! The armor behind the tracks is a weakspot just like the jumbo, and even angled the Tiger is still kinda weak

Well the T28 is broken AF, but for the IS-2 just shoot the cheeks or the cupola. The ammo in the turret often makes for a satisfying explosion!
You can't kill the IS-2? Shoot the lower front plate or the commander's cupola. It's easier to kill than a Jumbo.

Some models of the M4 the top of the hull is round
Most tanks that it fights against can penetrate that round part especially anti air from my experience so don’t under estimate

the biggest problem of the is the 1947 one. it hase the best among all armout. the turret have troll angle dont shoot is frontally. also it hase the best hull front. its 120mm slopped. the rest 2 varients have 100mm frontal plate.
there weeck spots are known. they have an utter garbage shitty turret traverse. and they lacks stabelisers. also hull side arekind of weech. only 80mm. basically put an APHE on the and they goes boom. make shure to not shoot their frontal plate from you left direction cus the fuel tank might absorbe the damage and protect ammo. and dont peek so much after a shot cus they have a good reload time.

M103 AP can go threw it with ease frontally. basically shoot its driver side and boom . or near the gun. with HEATFS shoot the turret front. every time you doo that you take gun breach. from the sides. you can basically see the ammo behind the frontal fuel tank. but sometimes its wet storage. with M103 shot below the turret from the side and you will kill the 3 mans on it and thats a kill
