“Far from perfect, but perfect from afar” is now my knitting mantra! I love all your projects but that green in your Fletchling and all colors in your Treysta are beautiful. 😍

Thank you for including Once Upon a Sheep in your listing of Metro Vancouver yarn shops. I'm one of the volunteers. Once Upon Sheep is a non-profit LYS supporting children's camp and education. We are easier to reach if you fly in Abbotsford. I'd be happy to give you a tour of the region including my floating home on the Fraser River in Langley. Moved here after 22 years in Calgary. Loving it, but miss the big blue sky of Alberta! Am catching up on your earlier vlogs, so lovely and informative. Great Canadian content Leanne. I feel like I know you. Cynth

Loving all your knits Leanne. I bought the Coastland Cowl today! I am nearly finished my second Musselburgh. My son snaffled the first one I knitted and he will currently be wearing it in Vancouver where he is working right now (up on the Sunshine Coast). Vancouver is a beautiful city, but so expensive to live there. Your colourwork sweaters are beautiful too. I’ve just purchased a couple from The Petite Knitter in her recent sale. So many lovely designs out there. Need more pairs of hands! I think Amy Palko is a genius to have come up with tartan knitting, and I look forward to seeing your Thegither project. Always enjoy your company, and even although I don’t always leave a comment, I always leave a thumbs up. 👍😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hello Leanne! That Vancouver yarn shop looked lovely! I put that balaclava in my favourites. That might be super useful when walking my dog. Toques, while I love them, don't like to stay put or if I snug them closer to my head, push my glasses down my nose. I have just finished a pair of vanilla socks with yarn from Rosa Pomar and Songbird Yarns. I am sadly STILL working on my husband's Slade Pullover that was SUPPOSED to be a Christmas gift. Clearly underestimated the time required to make it! Oh, well. I should be done by end Feb. Then, and only then, can I cast on something new. Happy travels!

I loved the Coastline Cowl, I will definitely be casting one on before the weather changes. Loved your Mussleburgh, the yarn was gorgeous. It's one of my favorite hats to knit.
The Flechling is so pretty, your yarn colors are so vibrant. I was really impressed with your stranded colorwork using the knitting thimble and not stressing over floats. I’m working on Amy’s Coorie-In Poncho at the moment, and it’s making me very excited. It’s starting to feel a little like Autumn here where I live in Australia, and I can’t wait to Coorie-In! I have a gloriously cloud-like blend of wool and mohair, and it feels so indulgent in my hands.
On a completely different note, I was in Vancouver in October 2009, just as the city was getting ready to host the Winter Olympics. It had the most fun vibe, and I’d dearly love to get back there one day.

So glad you finally got a long layover in Vancouver! Baaad Annas was a good choice for your tour. Wet Coast has all the Norwegian woolly wools, but its stock occupies a tiny footprint that might have been harder (and a lot quicker) to film in. Three Bags Full no longer has a shopfront in Vancouver; they have an online store now, and the owners moved to Ottawa. Next time you're in the area, you could take in both Wet Coast and Urban Yarns, not too far apart from each other. (Both on the west side of town, anyway.) I'm making a Poetry pullover by Sari Nordlund, which is a gorgeous item, and a shetland colourwork sweater by Gudrun Johnson called Yokey Dokey, and a cumulus tee by petite knits. Then I wanted to try some Sandnes garn yarn, so I bought just one skein and am going to make a little sophie scarf to see what all the fuss is about. You said it's the popular woolly wool at the Wet coast wool shop and that's what it is I guess. That's my LYS.

I so enjoy seeing the various places you overnight in, so thank you for sharing. I love the comfort of a “mono” (that’s what they call the onesies/jumpsuits here in Ecuador). Currently working on my Riptide Slipover but have yarn wound and waiting for the Varma by Sari Nordlund. It’s seamed which is something I’ve avoided up to now. Hello! I always love your podcasts. I was working on the second sleeve (!!) of the Matthew pullover by Amy Sher while listening/watching. I only have 3 decreases left to the ribbing! There were a few moments of confusion, but there is great pattern support for which I was grateful. The Treysta has been on my list for a while, but that might be a 2025 project. I'm pretty sure I have more than enough plans for 2024.

Hi Leanne! Thanks for this episode and the nice tour of Vancouver! I'd love to visit this beautiful city! Actually, I have 3 more active projects: the Apero sweater by Tricot Design MCL, the Nola cardigan by Yamagara (we make a KAL with some of my knitting friends). It's my first time doing intarsia and I'm not sure that I really enjoy that... and when I have to take a break of intarsia, I work on some felted slippers. First time with that technique too. I'm almost done with the knitting part. Hope the fit will be good after the "felting" part... to be continued ;-) Bye!

My current knit project is the mount robson pullover by Jessie McKitrick in 100 Knits. It's a cartridge rib pattern with saddle shoulders. Started January 1st and since it's fingering weight wool, it seems like I'll never get it finished for my husband. Thanks goodness he's a medium size! Lol.
My future dream knit is the Milton by Joji Locateli. It calls for a very fine silk mohair however i really like some suri silk from a local dyer.

    Beautiful cowl. Love the green.
On a side note, I have to chuckle at the irony. We live in a world that focuses on “inclusion” and yet cities can hike prices which make it 100% impossible for specific groups of people to purchase homes.
Seems a bit intentional IMO. Kinda like in America where our Southern boarder is wide open while the “Big Folks” live in gated and guarded communities.
    Anyways…just making an observation.

I was going to make it for myself at some point, but my friend needs it more. I'm also working on my Cozy Classic Raglan. The shoulders seem way wide, but it will be a sweatshirt-ey sweater for me anyway. After that, I plan on casting on the Snow Wonder by Heidi Kirrmaier with one strand of a pale, almost white Nutiden and one strand Lang Lace Lame, it'll be my holiday sweater for next year. I just want to say how inspiring you are with all your colourwork knits, I hope to one day get into more colourwork, and maybe learn to love it too. I love your podcast! Loved today, your knits are fabulous. So much love in those stitches as well all the happy. I made over half a dozen of Balaclavas ( helmet liners they were called), during the Iraq War for our Servicemen. The call went out to knitters…. As in history of knitters who knit for our brave during past wars…. As I understand it they were often times in sheer frigid temps holding positions against the enemy. I just had to do something. The preferred colors as well as regulation colors were green, dark green or Black. I knit them all in Black… 220 Cascade -- a hearty wool to warm up the recipient. They went with a prayer for protection and a prayer for Peace.
So I certainly loved your balaclava. Watched today as I wet blocked my Corrie in Poncho.i as well finally finished the Purl Soho Two Tone Mistake Scarf for my husband. Took time…. Now going to do a Tolsta Tee. The Scotland scarf colors are nice. I will be following along on that one. Thank you for today.

It's so lovely to watch your podcast and to visit places in Canada and their yarn stores. On my needles is a pair of slippers the pattern Doble tøfler from sandes = dubble slippers. They are knitted and then felted and folded in on themself to create the slipper. I never felted anything (intentionally) before so it's exiting.

@@theknittystew The slippers turned out great. I washed the slippers on a 40 degree regular cycle with wool soap for 1,5 hour with a towel. They was still too big so I threw them in the dryer for about 20 min and I checked after ten min. It was little fiddly to turn them inside themselves and to smooth them out. I had them on my feet still a little damp for like 30 min to shape them. They are so soft and warm and cuddly. Looks store bought in my opinion. I'm going to knit more of these slippers.
