They're one of the best bands on the planet! If you go one of their concerts you will see everybody getting up and dancing! Nobody can stay in their seats, you are up all night boogieing! Even though this group is made up of black musicians, everybody in the audience is of all different races. Everybody gets along, there's no static and everybody just has a great time and no matter who you are they're dancing with everybody else! It doesn't matter who's in the next seat, you just start getting down with them! It's just like it was back in the day of disco, everybody's there just have a great time.
"Boogie Wonderland" and "September" are their bangers. era is mid to late 70s. keyboard thing held like a guitar, not surprisingly, is called a "keytar"
I was enjoying the absolute legendary Earth, Wind& Fire, but not gonna lie: seeing you two grooving and being so genuinely happy, made my day. Bless you.
That is NOT their biggest hit-in fact, I would argue that this particular song was way more popular than "Shining Star"-as were several other of their hits.
The main falsetto singer here, I believe, is Phillip Bailey who sings a song with Phil Collins called "Easy Lover". It's a fun and funny video with the two of them and a great song! Love you guys!
I was fortunate enough to go see a Chicago/Phillip Bailey concert about 10 years ago. I about crapped myself when Chicago brought Phillip out to sing some of Peter Cetera’s parts. That was worth every penny!!!
"Shining Star" was Earth, WInd and Fire's highest-charting pop hit and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Some of their other great hits are "Sing a Song" and "After the Love Is Gone" (a ballad) and "Boogie Wonderland" (a duet with the R&B girl group the Emotions). And speaking of the Emotions, "Best of My Love" is one of the most killer and fun No. 1 songs of the 1970s!
I grew up with earth wind and fire ..been around my whole life ,danced to these guys in clubs ,pubs ,and discos for years ,I'm now 60 yrs old ,their music lives on 🎶🎶

We just had the best music ever! We went to clubs every night and danced to all these amazing groups that you are discovering now. I graduated in 1974, and still listening to these groups today. You guys are the cutest! Love your channel.
Your next one has to be "September". Period. Full stop. Followed by "Boogie Wonderland". Phillip Bailey is pure FIRE. The instrument you're talking about is called a "keytar", a keyboard you play like a guitar. Interestingly, though "Let's Groove" has a definite 70s disco feel, the song didn't actually come out until 1981. And the band is STILL TOGETHER! (They did a song in 2020 with Meghan Trainor!)
One of the best concerts I ever went to was Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago. Both bands had the best horns. They actually played two songs together, one from each band together.
IMO Phillip Bailey has the greatest falsetto of all time. Listen, if you can, to the live version of him doing "Reasons". Also listen to EWandF doing "After The Love Is Gone", "Shining Star", "That's The Way Of The World" and of course "September". "Boogie Wonderland" with The Emotions and The Emotions doing (one of my personal all time favorites) "Best Of My Love" are great suggestions as well.

If you like Philip Bailey"s falsetto, listen to his duet with Phil Collins, Easy Lover. Also, a couple years ago, Earth, Wind and Fire toured with Chicago. Talk about epicness!
Earth, Wind and Fire music is just an instant serotonin boost! In addition to September, Boogie Wonderland, Sing a Song, Shining Star, Reasons, Mighty Mighty, Serpentine Fire are also SO good. But to be fair, everything they did was amazing. I love them.
For this video, the producers went up to Maurice and asked "What kind of special effects would you like in your video?" And his answer was "Yes." Also it's called a Keytaur.
Their diversity is beyond incredible with the deep rich voice of the late Maurice White, the breathtaking falsetto of Phillip Bailey, the thumping baselines of Verdine White (Maurices Brother). Please review their slower songs too, such as "Reasons" and "That's The Way of the World". Amazing range of talent.
Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire in one night. This line up is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Now listen to Boogie Wonderland, September, and Reasons (live). Ive always heard the piano guitar called a keytar.
Lascie Thiesing, funny just sitting here thinking about seeing Earth, Wind and Fire WITH Chicago at the Backyard in Austin!! What an amazing concert that was!!!😎😎😎😎
Excellent tune! This song was from late 1981 into 1982. It spent 5 weeks at #3. Now you have to listen to "September"!!! :) That's a 70's song. Also, the lead singer of Earth, Wind & Fire did a great duet with Phil Collins in 1985 called "Easy Lover."
This is the best Earth, Wind & Fire song. The intro is my favorite part. I have to listen to that part a few times. That’s how catchy it is. I’m not much of a dancer but if I was I would be dancing to this all day everyday

My VERY FIRST CONCERT at Madison Square Garden 1978. I was 13 years old. There were at least 12 members of the band on stage, all dressed in cosmic shiny fabric with capes and all. I love them to this day!! They are unbelievably awesome!
That falsetto is Philip Bailey...He had a great solo album, too! Glad to see you all enjoying some great 80's funk, and a band with a horn section...gotta bring those back!

Now we’re getting into 70s R&B! There’s so much great music from that decade. Multiple R&B groups I hope you continue to react to them great great great music
I know right? I feel bad that todays youth only really knows rap. We had so much variety and while you may have favored one genre you listened to stuff all across the board back then. We had it so good..
@@CardiacCat Exactly, there were so many groups from different genres and solo artists from different genres that I loved it was never just one kind of music! I’m just glad we can still listen to it
I think you two are going to just love the predecessors to Earth, Wind and Fire; Sly and the Family Stone. Their hits are iconic. dance to the Music, Sing a Simple Song, I Want to take you Higher, Every day people, Everybody is a star, Hot fun in the summertime and several more. Enjoy the journey! Thanks for letting me check out these reviews, they just make my day!
I'd add several thumbs up if I could!! Definitely need to hear Sly and Family Stone!! And for some reason- I think Donna Summer would also be something you guys would enjoy🥰. How bout 'Love To Love You'? Find the funkadelic old cheesy 70s video with the weird background dancers!
Sly and The Family Stone (1966) was only 3 years before the start of EWF (1969). But that being said, their styles are so different that you cannot lump them together. Sly Stone had a mostly bass funk style, and more laid back. EWF has African, Caribbean, Latin and jazz with a hint of funk. So while I acknowledge Sly Stone and their music, not even close when it comes to being "like" EWF.
@@unmalo2768 you are correct in all you wrote, I never said they sounded the same or “like”. I just mentioned that they came first. They had many seriously talented singers and musicians and their songs were amazing! But thank you for the style breakdowns. Both groups require our praise and admiration. Thanks again
If you had waited to do this song until after the baby is born, would you 2 be up and dancing??? 🤣🤣 If Jay hasn't heard September, then you HAVE to do it.
I have been blessed growing up to The Elements EWF. In high school the moment this song came on, everybody grabbed the nearest person to dance, if you couldn`t find someone, you danced alone but would be surrounded. I remembered I was at the Paladium, a club in SF and there was a line outside waiting to get in. My friend drove up his Mustang, cranked up this song and everybody started dancing on the sidewalk, stairs and top of cars. We couldn`t get in but the party started before getting into the club. I went to every EWF concert, and it brings back memories. I miss those days back in the 70`s in High School. The music was awesome. Everybody had a BOOM BOX with a Cassette player and radios were allowed to play. Thank you, it was a time to remember!
Back in the fifties sixty and seventies and most of the eighties was pure talent. You could not hide this and bring this to the top. Back in the day they just had pure talent. I believe that is why music 🎶 was so great 😀 back then. I was lucky enough to listen to fifties sixties and most of all the seventies . The seventies was by far the greatest music 🎼 time ever.
I have a suggestion - since you're doing 3 videos a day - do a "triple threat" on one group - 3 songs by one artist/band.... Another funky sound is The Gap Band - You Dropped a Bomb on ME, or Lakeside - Fantastic Voyage...would love to see you react to these!
philip bailey is the falsetto voice he also did a duet with phil collins with the song easy lover. this song is from the 70's this is my era such great music during this time
All I wish for both of you is this: please, remain positive in life! Today's society makes me more cynical. Because of how people view each other. We are put on earth to uplift God and bless each other! You have made this jaded guy smile and have given me hope that good cheer is still alive and well! Continue to love one another and keep "real" music going!!!!
I don't understand it either it's like you never heard music. Surely one would think you heard of some of the people you react to. Not know of Diana Ross the Supremes. Have you heard of Kenny Loggens. Hall and Oats. What about The Temptations. Music must not have been in your life how sad. Hope you continue to discover the beauty of it
@@carolynlove6729 I get with kids today... when their parents are driving them around they always have their ear buds in listening to their own music. Portable music wasn't quite as accessible when I was a kid... Walkmans were relatively new, so super expensive. Not only that, but even if I had one my mom would never have let me listen to it while in the car. It would have been considered rude to just shut her out like that. So I grew up listening to her music. And then working in retail and office environments was just always exposed to top 40 from the 70's onwards as background music.
everything this band did lifted your spirit and made you want to move. they are one of the greatest bands of all time and are really underated . it is nice to see young people discover some truly great music.
Hey Seventh Seeker, we saw these groups together, also. (Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, Long Island). Yes, it was great, especially when they jammed together at the end of the concert to Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4". EWF and Chicago are two of the greatest bands ever!
OMG! I am sooo glad you two are fans of Earth Wind & Fire!! They are my favorite group of ALL TIME!! You guys need to listen to some slow Jams from them, my two favorites being Loves Holiday & After the love has gone! They have sooo many, you guys will never be disappointed! Peace & Love✌❤!
Yeah, you have to do "September" next! Earth Wind and Fire also do a groovy, jazzy cover of a Beatles song, "Got To Get You Into My Life." That's a Beatles song from 1966, when the Beatles still had their old school pop sound, and were just barely starting to branch out into modern rock.
EWF brings back memories....great groove....loved they used real instruments like sax and brass instruments. You guys love this you will love Kool& the Gang.
It's so funny listening to people discover this for the first time. I'm 52. This was definitely the 70's. I listen to this tune often just for the horn arrangement toward the end!
I feel ya Amber! I've LOVED this song since I first heard it on the radio a million years ago. You cannot stay still wile listening. It's just impossible!💃
If you love horns, the other legendary horn section was from the group Tower of Power. For an absolute juggernaut, listen to the version of What is Hip from their album Live and in Living Colour. It will send you into the funk stratosphere!
This song is from 1981. How can you not know of one of the greatest most iconic bands in music history?? They've had tons of hits from the early 70s to today. They still tour all over the world and their shows are still amazing. They're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
This is from the disco era! Of course you want dance. That is what it’s all about. Can’t count the number of times I would dance to this. The 70’s had the most diverse music jazz, disco, rock, pop, blues…my husband and I both think that if we had kids that they would be as cool you two. Congrats on the baby and keep making these reactions and bringing me back some wonderful memories. ❤️
The already mentioned ‘Boogie Wonderland’ is a classic. I would also highly recommend ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ & ‘One Step Away’ by Tavares, another group filled by great vocalists and musicians.
The baseline, more than anything, sells this song for me. It is so iconic. And then you place the vocoder on top of it... it just doesn't get much better than that.
Yo Jay, It's totally cool that you haven't heard all these amazing songs by this band. You weren't even alive when these grooves came out. I grew up with a crazy, hippie, Motown mom and we had all these amazing albums. Vinyl right? It's just great fun to watch y'all get down to this now...can't wait to see more. There's so much more. 🤗🙌🥃

Great picks !!
@@giarogers thanks, I like to think I have good taste in music! LOL 😆
@@dustinsdesertheirloomgarde5999 Agree my friend - great taste in music - so many memories !! 😎
@@giarogers lot of memories and nostalgia. That's why we all like this channel so much!
Good call!!! And thanks for reminding me!!
Sly for sure
I like Jordan and Amber but the two of them together is magic! You two put a smile on my face
My all time favorite band-catch them in concert if you can; they still sound as good as they did back in the day. Amazing! I’ve seen them 7x!!
Doesn't matter which song you react to from these guys, they're all winners. One of the greatest bands, EVER!
Saw them in 73, 50 years ago at msg.they were te openers for sly and the family stone .check them out.simple song.
Well said. They even outdid the Beatles with "Got to Get You Into My Life" in my opinion.
When Jordan paused the vid..the look and the thanks he gave to his wife made my day. TOO sweet 💕
That's unironically couple goals: communicating when you appreciate something. Lovely to see.
Other songs along this vein include:
Kook & The Gang “Celebrate”
Sister Sledge “We are Family”
Tony Orlando & Dawn “Tie a Yellow Ribbon”
Which of the above three is not like the others - laughing to myself.
Celebrate is a must-must!
1st concert I ever SAW!! Hampton Rhoades Coliseum '76!!
My little 11 yr old mind is STILL blown!!
They have it all - incredible vocals, killer instruments and kickin' beats.
If you had waited to do this song until after the baby is born, would you 2 be up and dancing??? 🤣🤣
If Jay hasn't heard September, then you HAVE to do it.
Would love to see more groups like this.
The Spinners
The Commodores
Kool and the Gang
The Ohio Players
Rubberbandman ❤️
Yes, kool and the gang!
The Whispers
Please don't forget Heatwave in this conversation.
Man I spent some nights at the skating rink jamming to this for sure!!!
Same
I have been blessed growing up to The Elements EWF.
This vibe was late 70's early 80's . I was 13 in 80 . It was super sweet having this as our music .
Very true. Little kid (GenX) me didn't realize music wouldn't always be this good.
Yes!!! The Gap Band. You dropped a Bomb on Me was one of my faves!
philip bailey is the falsetto voice he also did a duet with phil collins with the song easy lover. this song is from the 70's this is my era such great music during this time
OMG, you two are too cute doing your dance moves at the end! You guys make me so happy!! 😄
That keyboard instrument you saw in the beginning is called a "Keytar" , it`s made by the Roland Corp.
Song for Female Friday: “Boogie Oogie Oogie” by Taste of Honey.
um...meh. You might as well bring up Lipps Inc. Funky Town.
Loved the bass in that one.
That was such a corny song
The Wispers, (And The Beat Goes On)!
This is an absolute must!
You guys Rock!
Yes, The beat goes on... by the Whispers. Written and produced by Leon Sylvers.
One of many by them, Rock Steady, Contagious, and so many more!
you both bring joy every day! thanks for being so real and enjoying so much the music I grew up with. Music was the bomb back in the 70s and 80s!!
Definitely a 70's song. Saw them at the Forum in LA 1977. One of the best concerts EVER! RIP Maurice White!
All I can say is "bounce, rock, skate, roll". Killer tune.
And who are your parents that you never listened to this group as a child???
LOL @ who are your parents!!!! I watch a lot of reaction videos and sometimes I really can't help but think the same exact thing!! :)
@@GranFelicia I think amber said her mom listened to music. They are both pretty young and now much more informed. Luv the whole family.
everything this band did lifted your spirit and made you want to move. they are one of the greatest bands of all time and are really underated . it is nice to see young people discover some truly great music.
No, they are not underrated. They are world renowned as a phenomenal band.
We saw Chicago with Earth Wind and Fire a few years ago. They played separately and together. It was really great.
There was a DVD of these groups together in concert. Amazing.
@@relevantbrother8964 yes, I have it and it is great!
@@sheayankee certainly is.. Ive also got it. Classic.
We need this music back in the world ❤😊
DESPERATELY.
No one does falsetto like Phillip Bailey! Listen to Earth Wind & Fires REASONS. They always toured with Chicago.
You just cannot keep still listening to this. Takes me back to my disco days, I love it!! So happy you do too x
Great song from a great group 👏👏👏👏 September is great too - gotta play it
If you love horns, the other legendary horn section was from the group Tower of Power. For an absolute juggernaut, listen to the version of What is Hip from their album Live and in Living Colour. It will send you into the funk stratosphere!
Best horn section ever! Great musicians, all of them.
This song is from 1981. How can you not know of one of the greatest most iconic bands in music history?? They've had tons of hits from the early 70s to today. They still tour all over the world and their shows are still amazing. They're in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They’re kids. No one plays this stuff on radio anymore.
@@TheDivayenta yes they do. There's a station in New Haven, CT that plays all old school r&b. It's WYBC. 94.3 FM
@@jerrygray647 but the Rob Squad lives in Oklahoma City and are raising three kids.
@@TheDivayenta my sister lives in Oklahoma City. Maybe there's a station in that area or in Texas?
This is from the disco era! Of course you want dance. That is what it’s all about. Can’t count the number of times I would dance to this. The 70’s had the most diverse music jazz, disco, rock, pop, blues…my husband and I both think that if we had kids that they would be as cool you two. Congrats on the baby and keep making these reactions and bringing me back some wonderful memories. ❤️
If you haven’t seen a “keytar” before you need to check out Edgar Winter Group doing “Frankenstein” live. You’ll love it.
that is SO crazy good.
Fantastic suggestion!
Absolutely!!
I've been to dozens of concerts. Earth, Wind, and Fire was the best.
"They were absolutely FIRE."
And Earth. And Wind.
😉😉😂😂
That was called a keytar. It came and went pretty quickly. A few other bands used it through the 70s.
Disco at its finest. Excuse me as I get up and dance.
How have you never heard this song? Such a great, classic, super popular song!!!
The already mentioned ‘Boogie Wonderland’ is a classic. I would also highly recommend ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ & ‘One Step Away’ by Tavares, another group filled by great vocalists and musicians.
Absolutely! Love Tavares!
Boogie Wonderland thinking of the Emotions had another winner, Best Of My Love
Get those roller skates out. Ha
The baseline, more than anything, sells this song for me. It is so iconic. And then you place the vocoder on top of it... it just doesn't get much better than that.
I was first attracted to this song because of the vocoder, sounded so sci fi. Then the horns kicked in!
Yo Jay,
It's totally cool that you haven't heard all these amazing songs by this band. You weren't even alive when these grooves came out. I grew up with a crazy, hippie, Motown mom and we had all these amazing albums. Vinyl right? It's just great fun to watch y'all get down to this now...can't wait to see more.
There's so much more. 🤗🙌🥃
Do you honestly honestly think they've never heard of Rush, Bowie, Zeppelin ac/dc etcc? hahaha
@@martyjones8016
Yes.
Yes I do.
You're old (like myself). These groups were part of our vernacular growing up, however, your perspective is skewed.
Have you heard of (or remember),
1.) Jelly Roll Morton
2.) The Boswell Sisters
3.) Django Reinhardt
4.) The Crew-Cuts?
Can you name any songs by them without Googling it? They were huge in their time. But decades pass and times change. Millennials without rock & roll parents don't hear diversified forms of music.
Yes. I believe that many of these kids have never heard music that came out 40 years before they were born.
That Keyboard/guitar is often called a "key-tar."
Back in the day the R and B groups were all theatrical, their shows were exceptionally good and then the music just cherry on top of the cake. Check out the Commodore’s, The Gap Band, LTD and I’m sure other people will mention of Other great groups. The 70s decade it was really good for all kinds of genre of music
@Magicman82 Excellent and I would also add Isaac Hayes…
@Magicman82 I was trying to be nice and not name every single one but you’re helping thank you, I saw tower of power twice in person one of my favorites from the 70s, and yes war as well
I saw LTD open for the Commodores in the late 70's at the Philadelphia Spectrum. GREAT CONCERT.
You both are a pure joy to watch. Love your reactions to all of the music that I grew up around.
No matter how many times i hear this i love EWAF all oerr again....they make the beat funky songs ive ever hear!
