Aww Amber’s reaction when she realized the true meaning was hilarious. Her childhood memories keep being changed with each song she revisits.

My mother would act coy when my father would pat her behind - horrified me at that time...My partner/husband of 26 years does similar things with me, and he does so in front of my mother! Respectful affection goes a long way in life, and teaches children that parents are people who fell in love, and "enjoyed" the process. Best

Amber's reaction was so sweet when she realized with the song really meant! Now it finally dawned on her that her dad saw her mom has the sexiest woman on the whole planet! He was singing his little Heeeey baaaaby song to her and making sure she knew how attractive he felt she was. That's so important for a woman to feel that, especially after having children. I'm sure that Amber knows this since she's a mother. I hope she doesn't feel embarrassed now that she's aware of what it means. She should feel happy and lucky and her parents was ACTUALLY SINGING PRAISES about their attraction to each other! When you think about it, that is pretty cool! XO 😃😏❤️🎵😎🤘

I was blessed to see the Commandors several times in concert in the 70's. Lionel Richie went on to have a brilliant solo career. BTW he is Nicole Richie's father.

The Commodores is one of the best of the seventies R&B/funk bands! They had so many hits like Easy, Zoom, Still, Three Time A Lady, Sweet Love, etc! Lionel Richie sang lead on most of their hits in the seventies then he went on to a successful solo career in the eighties! This song was led by another band member, Walter Orange, and it was a huge hit in the late seventies! It was my oldest sister’s theme song and it reminds me of her so it holds a special place in my heart!❤️❤️

He said he fell asleep on the couch with the notepad on his lap. When he woke up, the words for Brick House were on the pad. While he was sleeping, his wife wrote it. She wanted him to write a song for her, but he hadn't yet. She got tired of waiting, so she wrote one. He thought it was great.

There's an old phrase, "She's built like a brick s---thouse, which means she's really "stacked." So maybe that's why there's a pause between brick and. house. Couldn't put the s word in, if they wanted to get airplay. I learned the phrase from my WWII era parents, so it goes back at least that far, if not farther.

It’s RnB Funk, Soul, Disco, everything basically except hard rock, or country 🤘
Ya all wanna check out an react to - Champagne “ How about Us” as well sometime.
You get all your fav Piano/keyboards Electric guitar and amazing Saxophone as well as incredible chemistry in one song!

This band was so good. Contemporaries with Earth,Wind, and Fire, and other great great groups. Positive message in their songs, super organized, fantastic tours, classic songs. But groups like this were also expensive from a producer point of view and producers found that it was cheaper to put a Rapper and a DJ on stage with a small light show, plus easier to tour. So all of the groups like this went away in favor of hiphop within a very few years. Glad to see you are looking back to appreciate some of these earlier bands and their amazing work.

You have not done U2 yet (You have earned world iconic band status when your lead singer is known by one name only and the world knows immediately who it is [Bono])- start with New Years Day and let it shake you to your core & close your eyes and let it take you on a journey. Another along those lines is Pride [in the name of love]. Other great choices are Where the streets have no name, sweetest thing, beautiful day, One, with or without you, Sunday bloody Sunday, angel of Harlem, Desire & the list goes on as the rabbit hole is super deep!

Slick Rick: He came up with Doug E. Fresh before going solo, so I would say it’s imperative to check out at least La Di Da Di by Doug E Fresh & Slick Rick, and The Show by them is also excellent. Slick Rick was the 3rd artist signed to Def Jam Records, after the Beastie Boys and LL Cool J. Solo songs I’d recommend are Children’s Story, The Ruler’s Back, and Mona Lisa.
Kool & The Gang: The main thing to know about them is their career basically has two different eras. Early on, from 1969-1978, they were largely an instrumental funk band. They had a few songs that members of the band would sing on, but they had no dedicated lead singer. Great songs from this era include Soul Vibrations, Dujii, Summer Madness, Funky Stuff, Jungle Boogie, and Hollywood Swinging, By 1978 their popularity had waned, so they changed things up, added a dedicated lead singer, and changed their sound to a more commercial pop sound and their popularity exploded. Songs from that era to check are Ladies Night, Get Down On It, Cherish, and Fresh. Everybody’s gonna recommend Celebration, but I’d be amazed if both of you haven’t already heard it, it’s been played at practically every sporting event the last 40 years when the home team wins.

Amber and Jay, From what I've been able to find, The Commodores were considered a rhythm and blues/funk group that began in 1967.Lionel Ritchie (seen here playing the sax) was one of the founding members. He played saxophone, keyboards, and sang lead vocals (though not on this song, the lead was their drummer, Walter Orange ).They had so many great songs over the years. Sail On, Easy, Nightshift, and Lady (You Bring Me Up) are some of my favorites.

Lionel Richie wrote this song and mostly all of the Commodores hits. They actually released Lionel from the group because they knew he became too big for them, even though he didn't want to leave the group. Their biggest hit without Lionel is Night Shift a tribute to Jackie Wilson and Marvin Gaye.

    GENRE = FUNK
The Commodores were the second band to become my favorite. (I first fell in love with Simon & Garfunkel!) I saw the Commodores on the Midnight Special and they did "Sail On" and "Still." They. Looked. AWESOME. I became a fan on the spot.
Lionel Richie would go on to be one of the biggest solo artists of the '80s. He wasn't my _favorite_ (I was into Eurythmics by then) but I sure bought a bunch of his solo albums. He was fantastic, but a lot more of a smooth singer of romantic songs with a few bangin' dance songs thrown in.

Played in a band for years and years. We did a gig at a literal mansion once for a fund-raiser for a local politico, and we were assigned to the patio. Everyone else was inside, except for one fellow. There is a whole back-story about us doing this as a favor for one member of the band going through a nasty divorce, so we were doing it for free (in lieu of additional payments to his lawyer.) Anyway, since there was only one person listening to an 11-piece band we decided to do about an hour of songs we knew that we could do in the key of E (without a single stop.) They recorded this in A, but it is easy to change keys, and you can go to MANY other songs out of this rhythm and beat. Think "Car Wash", then pick anything else similar. We did it! And had fun with one listener!

Cool story! In the early 90's I was in a group that opened for them at a small town fair. Halfway through our first song we lost our main amp. We were done, then they're sound man came in with a new one out of nowhere, and we were only down for 10 minutes. What a great bunch of guys. Can't tell you how nice each of them were. There was an expression in use back in the 70's that "she's built like a brick sh*t house", referring to an outhouse build of bricks, not sticks. I've heard the song lyrics originally included the sh*t but was removed prior to recording it to make it playable on radio.
