"Celebration", was by Kool & The Gang, but you're in the same vein, Amber. The female accompaniment you hear are "The Emotions". They had a MONSTER hit with "Best of My Love". You guys REALLY need to check that one out. Again, all my love, guys...
Your so right! Those decades weren’t just on fire… they were an explosion of new talent and genres comparable to the tech explosion of the last two decades. I love love love seeing this generation discovering the greats of the past 🥰
This band had SUCH a huge impact on music, it's impossible to gauge. You've done this, "Let's Groove", and "Fantasy," but (unless you did and it got blocked), you haven't done "September", arguably their biggest hit. "Shining Star" is a great love song. You should also do, "Mighty Mighty", "That's the Way of the World", "Getaway", or "Saturday Nite". You really, truly can't go wrong with EW&F! P.S. Amber... "Celebration" was by Kool and the Gang.
Celebration is Kool & the Gang but you were in the general direction. One of my fave EWF songs. Also check out the Emotions, the females singing on this song. Maurice White is the leader and Phillip Bailey is the guy w/ the falsetto voice.
Yeah, and, and . . 'regular' people could afford to attend a concert (when this music was out) -- you didn't have to save off your whole paycheck for 4 or 5 weeks for *one ticket* either !
The "Emotions" in the background. Waaaaay to much talent on one song. That Genius Maurice White. What a treasure. We are soooo lucky to have had him. Music lives forever. Thanks guys.
If you want to mellow out, listen to “After the Love Has Gone”. This song always takes me back 40+ years to a junior high dance. Imagine a cute little blonde, a nerdy guy with a huge crush on her and a slow dance with her to this song. Music leads to some amazing memories.
I heard it on an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati. I always think of Bailey(who I always thought was hotter than Loni Anderson on the show) getting stood up by Johnny Fever.
"September" is an ultimate Earth Wind & Fire song if you haven't reacted to it already! I was but a child back in those days but I always loved their music!
The Hutchinson Sisters from Chicago - The Emotions are doing backup vocals here. They should be included in a girl group Female Friday with their song Best of My Love ( Labelle - Lady Marmalade, The Honey Cone - Want Ads) would be make a great Female Friday trio of chart toppers (Billboard Hot 100) from the 70s.
My folks are from Chicago. My uncles went to High School with Yvette Marie Stevens aka Chaka Khan. My grandmom knew Maurice and Verdeen's mom, Sam Cooke was a member of our church, Tito Jackson was a student of one of my auntie in Gary and Mr T had a huge crush on my aunt in high school. I never personally met any of these celebrities my relatives knew but I always was fascinated hearing about these stories growing up in south Chicago
And not back up vocals, was a group duet. EWF put out first though, was supposed to be in both their albums. The Emotions had lotsa 70s hits and great harmonies
"Best of My Love" (1977) went to #1 on the Billboard charts and won the Grammy for Best R&B Song by a Group or Duo. And that awesome song was written by and produced by MAURICE WHITE of Earth Wind & Fire!
@@mikebaker7888 EWF always has insanely well choreographed moves on the stage. They went all out in giving the audience a show. This all, for people who’ve seen Easy Lover, (Phil Collins & Philip Bailey), kind of explains the humour part of that video when Phil Collins brought out the costumes, and had Philip Bailey cracking up watching Phil Collins make an attempt to dance. (While Easy Lover is a good song, the video of them shooting a video was over the top.
"After the Love Has Gone" is a sad but beautiful ballad by Earth, Wind and Fire. J may sleep through it, but I predict Amber will fall in love with it.
This Band Was one of The Greatest Bands Ever....Brass Section Great Dance Moves WEEKEND HOUSE DJ PARTY BAND 👏👏👍🇺🇸 THEY SURE KNEW HOW TO PUT ON A LIVE PERFORMANCE...💥🔥
You just opened the door to a whole new thang. One of my favorites of EWF is "Reasons". The three women are Wanda, Shelia, and Jeanette Hutchinson of "The Emotions".
J/Amber, Their " Shining Star" and "Sing A Song" are next for you!! Phillip Bailey and Maurice White were the lead vocalists of the group. Love those HORNS!!!
They were masters. They were real musician's musicians and influenced so many other artists. My favorite was September, but it was impossible not to enjoy Earth Wind and Fire.
They did this song with the Emotions. Some great Emotions songs are "Flowers," "No Plans for Tomorrow," "Best of My Love" and "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love." An older song by them is "Show Me How." You guys dig horns, so check out Earth, Wind & Fire's "Jupiter," "In the Stone" and for a nice sax solo, the live version of "Reasons." BTW, "Celebration" is by Kool & the Gang. They have some great horns too in the earlier songs, like "Chocolate Buttermilk," "Hollywood Swinging," and "Who's Gonna Take the Weight."
Love you two! Boogie Wonderland was such a groove! I was still a teenager when it came out. Earth Wind and Fire , with the Emotions was an excellent team up of two great groups. I have to say yes, this era, the 70’s was an amazing time to be alive! If I had a time machine, I’d definitely go back.
You both make me appreciate being a teenager (and in my early 20s) during the 1970s. I was 21 years old when Boogie Wonderland was released in 1979. I'm grateful that I grew up in a remarkable decade for music. Life felt easier and lighter in the '70s.🌞
I have seen this Band twice in the UK the Ladies in the Band had their own Group called The Emotions the member with high voice was Phil Bailey, he had a hit with Phil Collins. Their Stage Act and Costumes where phenomenal!
The “women” great group, The Emotions, not back up singers….this was group duet. They had huge hits in 70s, all sisters singing since young age. EWF and Emotions both Chicago groups, EWF produced a lot of their music. Would be great female Friday group. #1 hits on pop, R&B charts.
Boogie wonderland is by far one of my favorites from them. Whenever it would come on the radio when I was a little girl my dad would Crank it up and make the car dance down the road pump in the brakes. You can't not dance to it
EWandF were never out of the UK charts for ages. I went to see them in London it was one of the best dance night's ever. Everyone dancing stood in the seats and aisles, and the UK in the 80s was a glitter explosion. I think the UK didn't really put music in categories the media did, we just enjoyed life.
The three women are the Hutchinson sisters, aka The Emotions, an amazing vocal group in their own right. They started in the 1960s, and had a couple albums produced by Earth, Wind & Fire in the 1970s that were big hits.
"Celebration" is a 1980 song by American band Kool & the Gang. That is a song to listen too. "Boogie Wonderland" is a single by Earth, Wind & Fire with the Emotions, released in April 1979.
This must be the tightest band in history. Their production is beyond flawless. Pure joy! Pure genius! Love your reaction with such enthusiasm and open minded attitude. Impossible not to love this band.
I always love them! They were full of joy and happiness and expressed it individually as one big happy family who wanted to share it with the world and did.
This song was a big hit back in 1978. It was a great collaboration of Earth, Wind and Fire with the Emotions, the three ladies singing on stage. Both great talents from my hometown of Chicago, Il USA.
One if the best concerts I've ever been to was Earth Wind and Fire with Chicago. They are both amazing live! Both bands started and ended the show on stage together
They are always having such a good time when they perform. I would love to have been one of their backup singers. Earth, Wind & Fire is so fabulous. You cannot help but feel the joy in their music!!
The ladies are The Emotions, a group in their own right before and after EW&F. You may have heard "Best of My Love" or "Don't Ask My Neighbors." At one time EW&F also included jazz keyboard master Ramsey Lewis, who gave the group's leader Maurice White his start in performing. Check out their combo smash "Sun Goddess." 😎
Welcome aboard! Earth Wind & Fire dominated the 70's and 80's, with so many great songs. "All N All" is my favorite album, with "Gratitude" close behind.
EWF and Chicago toured 2 years together a few years back and we were BLESSED to see them live! Both bands so highly talented and horns horn horns for Amber. Philip Bailey is now lead singer with a phenomenal range… 4 octaves was what I counted!
Love me some Earth Wind and Fire!! So many great songs. One of them is a remake of the Beatles' "Got to Get You Into My Life." Rarely does anyone improve a Beatles rendition (ex: Joe Cocker and "With a Little Help from my Friends"), but EW&F does exactly that in my opinion. Also, please try some Al Jarreau! Your positive vibe will mesh really well with "Mornin'" or "We're in this Love Together."
OMG. in the 70's music was absolutely everywhere, just everywhere. Huge talented groups that modern music is still sampling to this very day. I am fortunate to have lived in those times.
We were certainly Blessed though it would have been cool to be 21 years old in 1955 Cruising in the Chev to Rock n Roll, But I will be happy with the 60s, 70s, and 80s
I remember dancing to this in a club in Portland, Oregon in my early 20s - a guy I never met before asked me to dance and proceeded to take me through some amazing dance steps. It was a clear the floor moment, and after the song, a couple of people asked us how long we had been dancing together. They didn’t believe that it was less than an hour. It was truly about the fun, and the music, and the amazing times… ♥️
So was I! Earthquake Ethel's? Starry Night Club? Copper Penny? Refectory? Flower Drum / Duke's? Skoochies? Slabtown? There's a hundred more but those are all that's coming to mind at the moment lol.
Check out "The Intouchables" film. One scene might even get you back to the moment you lived in this Portland club. And if not, you'd be happy to see a great movie.
I can definitely see you guys in the club back in the day. Jordan would never come off the dancefloor because that is how the music went all night long. As I'm watching EWF I can see where Bruno Mars band really tried to pick up on the constant movement and everyone involved. I absolutely loved our music era, Thank you!
The 70's were just the best ever. Everyone had funk and soul in their blood and we all danced. We went to clubs and just gave ourselves to this music. It was just the absolutel best!! Best band ever to watch live too!
I was lucky enough to see EWF in concert along with the band Chicago. Two legendary bands. EWF has so many amazing songs. “Shining be Star” is one of my favorites by them. “September” is also definitely worth a listen.
I saw them a couple of years ago and they are still great! The lead singer did pass away but the rest of the group still tours and they are still phenomenal!
You guys know good music when it captures your very souls. I danced in loads of disco clubs back in the day, and never remember anyone sitting down when EWF was playing. They were either out on the floor, or groovin' in place. Rob and Amber, I get a huge kick out of how you identify this era as 'your time'...wish you could have been back there with us the first time! All I can say is that it was truly awesome.
Love this funky jazzy group. They covered many genres of music. They had a lot of hits in the 70's-80's such as "Shining Star", "Got To Get You Into My Life", "September", "Boogie Wonderland", Let's Groove", "Reasons", "Sing A Song", "After The Love Is Gone" etc.
A great pairing with the Emotions. You have to hear "Can't hide love" and "That's the way of the world". Maurice White and Phillip Bailey shared the singing duties in EWH. Mr. Bailey was the one hitting the high notes.
Some more great songs with the word “boogie” in the title: Boogie Fever - The Sylvers Jungle Boogie - Kool & the Gang Boogie Oogie Oogie - A Taste Of Honey Boogie Nights - Heatwave
The ladies singing chorus are a group known as The Emotions they are sisters they had hits like Best of My Love ( check it out ) and Don't ask my Neighbor you gotta hear them this was a fire collaboration
High singing guy is Phillip Bailey. He's a force of nature, all by himself. Check out Phillip and Phil Collins "Easy Lover".
That video is SO much fun!!
This
I second that!!! Great song and love the video!!✌❤
Walking On The Chinese Wall is a great song too, showcases Phil's vocals very well.
I agree with this one! You will love the video! As Phil Collins puts it it's a video about making a video
"Celebration", was by Kool & The Gang, but you're in the same vein, Amber. The female accompaniment you hear are "The Emotions". They had a MONSTER hit with "Best of My Love". You guys REALLY need to check that one out. Again, all my love, guys...
❤️
Please check out The Emotions.
Not to forget, Flowers, by the Emotions as well. The message is deep and very much needed in this day and age as it was back then.✌️😎🎶💯
100% support the "Best of My Love" suggestion! LOVE that song.
Yes! Best of My Love for Female Friday!
The lady backup singers are "The Emotions." a very good group on their own.
They definitely need to get into The Emotions! "Don't Ask My Neighbors". "Rejoice" "Best Of My Love" So many amazing songs!
Don’t Ask My Neighbors is a great Female Friday song.
@@carltonbakerii8274 Love, Love "The Emotions!!"
And don't forget Maurice White was married to one of them. He was also their producer
Maurice was behind much of the Emotions success .
Those women are The Emotions. You will not regret a dive into those fabulous musicians. ❤
I feel so blessed to have grown up in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. These three decades were FIRE for everything!
Me too. Got to see so many great bands & artists in concert. Tickets were so cheap back then.
Yes totally agree ...how danceable is this music for the energetic ...not like todays fair lazy
Your so right! Those decades weren’t just on fire… they were an explosion of new talent and genres comparable to the tech explosion of the last two decades. I love love love seeing this generation discovering the greats of the past 🥰
Agreed, Generation X and Millennials missed out on the golden ages of music, including the 50s too
As far as popular music goes, most of my favorite stuff is from 1965 to 1985.

Agreed, they need to hear "September." Also, "In the Stone" - I love that one!
The Manhattan's "Shining Star" is so much better IMO.
Reasons....enough said
A BIG ballad, After the Love Has Gone
You will enjoy "September" for sure!
The guy who sang so high is Phillip Bailey who did "EasyLover" with Phil Collins. The women were "The Emotions" best known for "Best of My Love".
Best of My Love is just happy! I love everything about it!!
Celebration is Kool & the Gang but you were in the general direction. One of my fave EWF songs. Also check out the Emotions, the females singing on this song. Maurice White is the leader and Phillip Bailey is the guy w/ the falsetto voice.
Just love when youngins finally hear our music.

ABSOLUTELY Rob, my favorite by EWF, and my fave workout song was this one, you talking bout a great workout, WoW !!!
Beautiful song!
I heard it on an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati. I always think of Bailey(who I always thought was hotter than Loni Anderson on the show) getting stood up by Johnny Fever.
I do it with “That’s the Way of The World” it hypnotizes me.
Beautiful song. Would love a reaction on this one.
Maurice White was the consummate showman. He put the band together, directed and choreographed most of their shows. Amazing talent besides singing.
The time when bands were actually groups of musicians & dancers doing a PERFORMANCE! ❤❤❤
Can you imagine living in a time when music this good was on the radio every day? I miss those days.
At least you witnessed them.
You got that right!!
That’s true
YASSSS! I feel so lucky that THAT was my heyday!!
14 when this was out,so more school discos than hitting the clubs yet for me,but yes what a time for music!
"September" is an ultimate Earth Wind & Fire song if you haven't reacted to it already! I was but a child back in those days but I always loved their music!
Afro pop was carimba, from early 70's alblum.

I’ve always had a fascination with Philip Bailey’s falsetto. You can really hear it with the EWF song “Reasons”.
YES Saw him do it live great!

This one must be listened to with your girls I think it would be fun for them
or The Emotions the female group singing in this video
YES. Literally my family's song
Their disco stuff was fun, but they also had a beautifully melancholy ballad in "After the Love Has Gone."
Their R&B stuff is 🔥!
after the love is the most beautiful sad love song ive ever heard
Just look at how many musicians and singers were on stage at once, doing this all synchroniously, masters at work - simply genius...

Every Disco House in the 70's placed this song!! So much fun, so much energy!
Rest In Peace, Maurice White. It’s great to see black performers proud of their African roots.

Shouldn't they save that for September 21st?
same and the audiance spanned seveeral generations.
Oh wow! That had to be an amazing concert!
September is a great funky song!!! I hear it a lot in the casino I work at
It definitely was..!! I saw them at Bethel Woods in 2015. If they ever tour again I’d surely go again.
Their concerts were an absolute spiritual experience exploding with talent and supreme performance 💞
I saw them a couple of years ago and they are still great! The lead singer did pass away but the rest of the group still tours and they are still phenomenal!
They sound exactly the same live!! One of my favorites and didn't sit once through the entire concert...amazing!
They certainly do!
My favorite band ever...Thank You!!!!!
Emotions were a hot 70's disco group.
I'm 61 years old and I remember my friends just jamming to great music like this back in the day!
100% the true definition of a band!
Some more great songs with the word “boogie” in the title:
Boogie Fever - The Sylvers
Jungle Boogie - Kool & the Gang
Boogie Oogie Oogie - A Taste Of Honey
Boogie Nights - Heatwave
I'd like to add:
"Blame It On The Boogie" - The Jacksons
"Boogie Shoes" - KC & The Sunshine Band
"Boogie On Reggae Woman" - Stevie Wonder
Seen them twice live. A blast!!!
Phil Bailey is the guy with the high voice.
I've seen soooooo many concerts, every genre and they are still one of the BEST shows I've ever been to! Ah--mazing!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
The ladies singing chorus are a group known as The Emotions they are sisters they had hits like Best of My Love ( check it out ) and Don't ask my Neighbor you gotta hear them this was a fire collaboration
Earth Wind and Fire were and still are awesome…my fav💞
The thing is with this band that sets them apart is that everyone on stage is a full member of the band. Amazing live stage shows. 👍
