First saw this when it came out; came back to re-listen in 2024, and wanted to share my thoughts: Easily one of my all-time favorite TH-cam videos. As a musician, it has never failed to me. Whether the musicians look back at this performance in a similar light or not, from the first time I saw this video - and to this day, watching for the first time in 3+ years - I’ve been stricken by how surreal and transcendent this recording/video/performance is. In essence, it reminds me of A Love Supreme. I’m not even a jazz snob like that, but they both take structured yet improvisatory music to a place that viscerally elicits rawness, truth, and honesty. Also - I want to shoutout the guitarist. Not familiar with him but I’ve always loved his minimalist style in this performance. Never seems redundant or out of place. He’s adding unique textures and sounds without anything extraneous. His rig is also rocks - a tele through an egnator/vox head and a Marshall cab? Sure why not!
@andrewtrautmann180 thank you so much for this comment. You really made my day! I'll give you a little back story on this project. Cory and I wanted to do something special to launch his solo project, I offered the rooftop of my recording studio (not legal or approved by the building, oops..) but him and the band spent about a week in my studio getting used to the gear and set. Many long nights just hanging out and jamming, it was a magical time. The night came where we ran all of the gear to the roof and setup the studio, unfortunately about half of the set didn't turn out great (audio wise) due to the intense configuration and time frame. This was the last piece of the night and it finally came together. I sometimes consider posting the other videos because they're stunning as well, just not as good audio. The guitar amps are actually just a couple items we have in the studio and the guitarist (who is absolutely stunning as you mentioned), configured that rig during this time. It was random but sounded wonderful. My goal is always to capture a moment in time as purely as possible, and this is by far one of my favorite moments in time of my life. Really appreciate your comment, it's been a blessing to have been able to turn that idea into a reality :)
@@dherdeeast5341 wow thanks so much for this response! Really interesting knowing some of the backstory here… I can assure you that at least I would definitely watch if you uploaded the other footage.
The beauty of sound is not of this world. Like soothing raindrops on rooftops or a babies cry that says I need you. It could even be the moans and whispers of lovemaking. I just know it's a gift to be treasured even when negativity wants to be heard. Just remember for this gift you are truly blessed. These sounds are
This music is pure dope. Very hard to hold back joy from overflowing you with tears... Cory is great as always, and those string sounds in the second tune by Nick Semrad are something else...
I unlike . Just so I can come back to the clip and have the joy of liking the video again. I’ve been soaking In this throughout high school - I’m in my late twenties now still can’t get enough
I BANG this in my car in my car... straight you tube.. is that ..Straight feel good music.. I mean damn.. I cant explain.. This music can just get you in one of them zones
On the rooftop of D'Herdes, playing for everyone to hear! With all that traffic, and goings on, I doubt if anyone can hear! LOL & Being so far up and all that good stuff! ITS THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS♡ PEACE & ALWAYS LOVE EACH OTHER SPIRITUALLY.....
i've seen them live in a different setup - they're absolutely amazing. somehow, though, i still wish i'd seen that particular performance instead, or rather as well.
I think I figured it out.. I used the VST called Synth 1 on my computer as a synth, if anyone wants to know I can send a screenshot of all the settings i used (ADSR, filter, distortion etc...) and you can copy them.

Love from Germany. One of my fav Songs. Just amazing
Pure genius........& I'm going to see him in concert next month!!!
Cory reminds me of Thelonious the way he steps away to listen to the rest of the band.
CotymoG. I totally agree!!! I turned my dad on to him a couple of years ago and that's the first thing he said. #Beast
Reincarnation? haha
Ahah you right ! There is a picture of Cory who is a wink to Thelonious (he has the reflection of the keyboard in his glasses)
True statement 💯
A much friendlier version by the looks of it
Nick Semrad is a different breed
When that groove changed at 5:30.. 😩😩😩🔥🔥🔥
0:32-1:23 That's the most organic, human sounding synth line i've ever heard. It's like the Moog is singing.
i'm so fucking agree with you "The moog is singing" Damn it's exactly the perfect image
Moog is crying with joy about how beautifully it is played by Cory....
Kocham to nagranie. Kocham twórczość Cory'ego. Kocham to jak oni grają. Kocham ten klimat Nowego Jorku. Zróbcie tego więcej! :D
The music is a transformationist and cory is a true selected master!Holy!Love, Peace

This is the best angle on the whole Cloverfield thing, frankly.
It turns out the creatures were allergic to legendary vibes all along!
I BANG this in my car in my car... straight you tube.. is that ..Straight feel good music.. I mean damn.. I cant explain.. This music can just get you in one of them zones
