You could tell from the outset of this song that there were technical glitches, Cory had to switch mic's and it took a minute to get his sound up.

Young people might be shocked to learn that in the 70s when this type of music was very popular, more than rock! that the big vocal groups recorded with full string and horn sections, not synths... to get this beautiful but funky sound you can dance to.

It's so nice to see and hear an orchestra playing Herbie Hancock's "I Thought It Was You"! I truly miss the strings and horns of an orchestra. Dedicated musicians! Even back in the '70's, we had great funk bands with a horn section. Mostly sax, trombone and trumpet.

Watch this over and over again, sometimes daily, especially now I'm down with the flu. Sure, Jacob and Cory are the soul of 21st century jazz. What impresses me is the ensemble playing by Metropole Orkest. So much to see and hear. Behind Cory: the drummer keeping pace like no-one else. "Just doing my work." A keyboard player on the right rolling out a magic carpet, string arrangements straight from the O'Jays, brass shouting it out loud, background chorus singing their hearts out. And then, around 6.30, Cory looks up. We have arrivesd in music heaven. Buckley relaxes and enjoys: this is what we dreamed of and we made it reality.

Let me share this with you.
Whoever God is, that is who He is. He cannot be nothing else, but that.
I have truly met Him. He showed me this.
God has always dwelt in community with Himself. He has never known what it is like to be alone. He has always dwelt in Love. Therefore He is Love.
He can never be alone, alone is a defect, a lack of,.. He has no lack. He has before the beginning, even to after the end in the palm of His hand.
He has dreams and desires just like us. He showed me a vision. The Almighty leaning back on His Almighty throne, looking up above Himself to His dreams. Choosing how the universe should be. Everything He dreams is perfect. Just, right and true. His dreams are Him. That are within Him, just like ours. His Spirit brings His dreams to Him. His WORD give birth to these dreams when HE speaks. When He speaks life is made. He is the Father over all. He loves us all. Beyond all our dearest dreams.
He can not choose to no longer Love someone because they are evil, wicked, or unbelieving. That is just not who He is. He is LOVE. He is eternal. The true Eternal God does not have such low power, energy, thought process or character. He is above all He is not needy or lacking in character. He will never lie to you or let you down. He does connect to, speak with and adore all His children. Even the naughty ones. He is Yahweh. The lover of our souls. Our very being cries out to Him, even when we are sleeping He is there. However the choice is yours. He is waiting to speak to you.
God - Father Son Holy Spirit. These three are one. Man - Mind Body Soul. These three are one.
Human beings are made in the image of God. When God revealed Himself what do you believe He will reveal Himself as...
A human being, yes, a Man, however, one that is like HIM, perfect, sinless, HOLY pure and true. Having all authority over evil, over all things.
Muslims believe that Lord Jesus was taken up to where allah is, allah is not in heaven, the quran teaches that allah is above all creation,
So Lord Jesus Christ has been with allah, sitting above heaven, above all creation with him, for the past two thousand years....
AND NOTHING THAT WAS MADE, WAS MADE WITHOUT HIM... THE WORD OF GOD.
When I speak, you'll be getting to know me through my word. However without that, you'll never know, Me.
Trust is Lord Jesus. The God of the Bible Speaks to those who call upon Him with an open heart. I promise you that. Speak to Him and see.

For me, a formidable combination of Jules, Jacob and Cory. JC's documentary on BBC just blew me away, despite the fact I've been following ages on TH-cam. I've always loved Jules' collaborations. Just look at his roster. Heritage Orchestra is one of my favourite - Saw him orchestrate a complete improvised evening with The Bays which was phenomenal.
Cory just get's me every time, there is the spiritual connection too I think, and that brings a real emotional connection too on many of his performances. JC does that too with all his amazing voicings. I love to have my daughter on my lap listening to JC on Moon River, we have such a special time.
I grew up on Classical and Piano Rags amongst other things and we always had a piano and I just wish I'd not given up. I started guitar at 14, so it did't go to waste.
My goal now is to try and learn more Jazz Piano.

Great rendition, love it! Thanks for share it! #JazzFunk

I find all the structure has been hastened, fastened, so that it's no longer earable even to the ear in the know of this tune. Before lisrening to this, I would go to the Source, for me it's the "direct step" album track worth 15 min by herbie hancock. Any way, the presentation here is brilliiant, so congratulations. But avoid eating the score next time !... cheers and thank you.

@@muziklee91vet Sounded a LOT like Stevie, I thought so too. But no voice can be as sweet and melancholy as that vocoder.

Yeah Cory would have been preped for the vocoder part, and suddenly finds he has to sing without the disguise of the Korg. I wonder why they didn't go for a Roland. I'm sure its sound would have been better suited than the harsher more robotic tones of the Korg.

Ahhhh, yes! This is what I've been waiting for! Two of the new young titans collaborating. I'd love to see more of the same and with others (i.e. Anomalie, Domi Degalle, etc, etc.) hopefully with better sound mixing. It's a shame Jacob's volume was so low and buried in the mix.
