Considering that Miyazaki was against the idea of DS2, because he wanted to move on from Souls games, I think it comes as granted, that DS3 feels a little sloppy. Compared to Bloodborne anyways, which is the best work of Fromsoft so far IMO.
Hell no. Miyazaki was working on Bloodborne while DS2 was being made. They fucked it all up without him, so he wasn't about to let these nerds finish Dark Souls on a shitty note. I think DS3 is just about perfect.
BB was my first FromSoft game, followed quickly by DS3. Those two games, if you play them a certain way, feel almost identical. Stay away from shields in DS3 and the only real difference is the speed of the gameplay. Nothing will be as frantic or fast-paced as Bloodborne

Have to commend you for the content you managed to produce from the not so great Dark Souls 2 :) Gave much more depth to the game. Wishing to see more lore-based videos for Bloodborne as I believe the lore is bloodborne's strongest aspect. Thanks for all your hard an dedicated work!
It is possible to reach the messenger head bandage from the platform below the rafters as well, the one with the item on it around 2:18. Just a simple sprint and jump to the side. I find this is actually easier, as there is much more room to run up to it and a safer overall path. Just throwing that up for people who want an alternate route or have trouble with the one already mentioned.
I love when you post new videos. Especially all these. Shows how expansive this world/game is and how deep it goes. Also you do an extremely well job at explaining what's going on while not sounding like an idiot and keeping it interesting. Great Job.
Near the saw spear hunter is a building you can enter to get the charred hunter set and a free saw spear yourself along with a VERY important lore note if you ask me. To get to it you need to go to right of the ladder after going to it and there is a little ledge, you just need to roll on to it and then roll again to get underneath it, inside is a few beasts that will try and swarm you after killing a couple on the ground. Then you can go up some stairs and find the spear after the first set, go up the second set and you will be able to find the note and the charred hunter set.
Oh my god!!!! Vaati!!! your voice is so soft and apptopriately chilling. it really just sucks me in to the subject of every video you make. May the good blood guide your way.
It's way easier and less risky to jump to the bloody messenger bandages from the neighboring platform with molotovs on the end. Just have to make a sharp turn and be quick on the 'O' press.
A note on Djura - you can mess it up after encountering Darkbeast Paarl - when I heard that Darkbeast was the trigger (and not reading beyond that) I warped to the top of Old Yharnam to see if he was still hostile (he was). When I learned that you had to approach from below I tried it however he was still hostile. I tried it the correct way on another character and it worked fine, so it seems as though if you encounter Paarl but then approach Djura from the front, he will be forever hostile for the remainder of that playthrough.
I just want to thank you for your excellent content, I have just started playing and loving Bloodborne and your content has only enriched my experience.
I simply love your videos. The Souls Series, is one of my favorite series in games these days, and you sir, make the best videos about the lore, things we missed and other things about the game, so.. congrats, man. Keep up the good job!
I'm new to the souls thing and my Lord have I been missing out! Your videos have made playing DS2 and Bloodborne so much more accessible and enjoyable. Thanks mate.
A lesser man would've left the incorrect video up to preserve the views and likes, but we all know that Vaati stands for quality content. But I am confused about 1 thing; how do we know that the Blood Starved Beast is female?
I think since it is so slender and has back skin that we subconciously categorize as long hair. It seems to look feminine to us and without really thinking we recognize it as a female. The truth is it is difficult to tell the gender of a beast and a correct question might be: does the gender matter?
EpicHysteria I suppose not, I'm just kind of curious as to who these boss beasts are. I mean the lesser beasts are worshiping (?) a strung up BSB. Members of the healing church have a tendency of being royally boned by the universe (likely because of their ease of access to Cthulhu blood), it makes me wonder who these people were. They're both in churches so they could be priests or priestesses. I think we need a chosen undead to harvest the souls of these monsters, souls might have that info.
When I encountered the saw spear Hunter, he looked so similar to me that I thought he was some sort of doppelganger mini boss. I did beat him first try without cheese, but I used many bullets and blood vials. I also beat the tower/Gatling Hunter, but it only took two shots from the blunderbuss. I have never played a Dark Souls game, and just started Bloodborne a few days ago. I am really enjoying it, even though I don't usually like very difficult games, especially difficult boss fights. But the game design is so good(aesthetically and gameplay-wise) that I want to keep playing. When I die it feels mostly fair, and the game gives you a lot of tools to succeed, if you use them. It also helps that I am streaming this game most nights, and another streamer stops in and gives me tips and encouragement. She has helped me immensely. Thanks for the great vids
You know after watching this, and trying (failing) to get the Head Bandage, I realized that lighting the room below on fire is actually somewhat merciful to the beasts. If they don't die, they'll be too scared to fight you, so you can let them live. :3
For your question the best answer I can give is: Its what happens when a game does patches, some things change, others stay the same and some things gets even more subtle. Yes they are making the game game more subtle. Gotta love that.
I don't know if it's been answered, but in the 1.0 patch--that is, launching the game offline and not patching whatsoever--allows you to hear that last snip of dialogue.
you did a good job helping us find these thing thanks for telling us how to find these I have watched your vids for a long time now and I like to see what I missed thank you for telling me the lore ^^
I'm playing Bloodborne, no patches (hehe) no updates. And yes, he does say, "give some thought to the hunt". Can't provide you with any footage because I'm long past Old Yharnam and don't have the time to start a second playthrough just yet.
On the original base game without the Day 1 Patch I remember Djura's Dialogue cutting off, but it cut off, but it did so mid-way through the last line of dialogue he has (supposedly) and that's the line from the wiki.
About djura and glitching around in old yarnham, a strange thing happened to me a week ago (prior to patch): when i managed to have him fall i followed him down like a dumbass. That way, when he died, he did say the last piece of dialogue (i honestly had never heard it but i don't think it is anything new: "don't you understand you are the true beast" or something) but BEFORE i could get the blood echoes i was already dead from the fall. So i did trigger his last piece of dialogue but died before i could score the kill entirely. When i got back there, as expected, i couldn't find his badge, but the strange thing was that he wasn't at the top of the tower either! Looking down from there i noticed that he was standing on the bridge below. I went to check if he was hostile, but he had vanished. So he is visible from the top of the tower as standing on the bridge, but if you go down he is nowhere to be seen. Could this be related to the glitch you talked about in the video?
For those watching in 2021, the Djura dialogue has been fixed and now fully plays on a vanilla copy of the game and one with DLC installed. Source: tested it myself lol
Btw you missed the hunters torch. Can be found by going straight forward after opening the door to Old Yharnam from the chapel. Follow the fleeing add down onto the roof, then walk off the front of the roof, carefully.
I heard Djura mention "For the hunt and its purpose" when I first played it on launch week. Haven't ventured back to him though since then, so can't confirmed if he still says his original quote.
I've never heard Djura say anything but "give some thought..." at the end, and I've definitely died to him with an unpatched version of the game. I wasn't aware there was anything more.
I know I’m like super super late but yes dhura used to say “next time you dream give some thought to the hunt and it’s purpose” he’s touching on the fact that the hunt only exist to 1) hide the church’s secret (that they caused the beast scourge) and 2) to keep them in power by way of the church hunters culling the herd leading hunts and killing those who begin to show signs of infection (ie they killed anyone they deemed a threat)
I think the easiest way to get the bloody messenger head bandage is to run against the fence, turning 180 degrees and jumping over the gap. (You can see an item next to the fence)
I have played Bloodborne with the italian dialogues, and he says, when you die, "You're telling me you still dream? Well, the next time, think about it..." ("Vuoi forse dirmi che ancora sogni? Beh, la prossima volta, rifletti bene..."), so I believe that the final line might have been cut with a patch, as in italian there's no trace of something about the hunt.
Recently, I fell at the ladder when trying to fight Djura, and his dialogue started up before I hit the ground. He got as far as saying "give some thought to the hunt", but not "and its purpose".
If you drop down on the same level as the first hunter there are a bunch of crows and if you look theres a gap in the railing behind them. A bunch of good items on the way up
I'm in my first playthru of bloodborne, somewhat late to the curve, died to the bloodstarved beast a tonne, with alfred there to help, decided to go exploring in Cathedral Ward some more instead, beat amelia after a few tries, then proceeded to have to beat the blood-starved beast without alfred, which cost me a lot of echoes in antidotes.
I love all your videos man I just got into Bloodborne and I love every second of it and your videos have been very entertaining and helpful thank you so much 🙏
in the first patch version of the game the djura dialogue was there but they just took it out entirely because when you died you died too fast and couldn't hear it but you could see the subtitles come up
I've heard Djuras dialogue to the point of "give some thought to the Hunt", but "and it's purpose" was always cut off (even though the subtitles did show what he was going to say). I suspect it's got to do with the patches speeding up load times. You might get more of his dialogue by playing the release version of Bloodborne.
I'm not sure if you missed this or didn't consider this hidden enough but there is a hidden path just past the saw spear hunter where you fall down and go through a building, you get a rifle spear and the charred hunter gear this way
Just some comments about this video. First, want to make clear that what makes Djura not-hostile is not really approaching him from behind, but rather a trigger that activates once you have entered Darkbeast Paarl's boss room (not necessarily defeating him, just entering). However, after this trigger activates, it is important to approach him from behind so that he doesn't turn hostile again (which happens if you approach him from the front). Just making that clear because people might think that the only thing needed to befriend him is approaching him from behind and that can actually be done before encountering Darkbeast Paarl. Secondly, I feel that the jump you made to get the Bloody Messenger Head Bandage was probably the hardest way to pull that off, because the rafter is so narrow. You can actually walk the rafter, drop to the left onto some boards, and then jump from there, where you have much more space to maneuver. Anyways, not my intention to bash or sound arrogant. Just wanting to contribute with my thoughts. Thanks for doing what you do, Vaati. Cheers!
Also don't forget that hittjng the oil urn and setting the bsb on fire that all the other beasts are worshipping will make djura perma hostile as those are some of his trigger beasts and even if you reload the world state the urn will drop again as you get close. So on your first pass through kill all the beats you want if you want to befriend djura it doesn't matter since the world state resets but don't knock down that oil urn or even if you approach from bsb lamp or graveyard of the darkbeast the urn will now always drop.and aggro him.
You can actually make the jump to the bloody messenger hat or whatever it was from the platform below the rafter you were on. No danger of dying if you miss.
Well obviously the reason why the dialogue is online could be 2 reasons, 1 someone read the game code and found the dialogues unfinished part, or 2 a developer may have mentioned it from either a question about djura or what he meant.
Hey Vaati! Absolute great videos you make! But do you know you left Bloodborne too early? There's missing a lot of locations in your "things you missed..." series! Could you please make them anytime? All the questlines and all caryll-runes would be interesting too! Thanks for your work!
VaatiVidya Until recently i didnt have internet and as such i was playing version 0 of the game. I can confirm that he indeed speaks the full dialogue that you mentioned in the video before the patch. However he doesn't say anything other than that
If I recall correctly, the "to the hunt and its purpose" line comes from the dialogue he say when you first enter Old Yharnam. The stuff that starts with something along the lines of "You there, Hunter, did you not see the sign?"
yeah, Djura does say "I assume you still have dreams. The next time you dream, give some thought, to the hunt and it's purpose." or something along those lines.
I've gotten the same dialogue you did upon dying to djura since day one, didn't even know he could say more. Now I don't know if it's related or not, but on a curiously similar note, there seem to be two different names for the "one third of umbilical cord" item, with the same description, but a slightly different name.
I was just replaying the game and found a huge winged beast tied up in old yarnam within the building with the ritual blood, I’ve never seen it before nor heard about it in the lore. Thought it was pretty interesting though.
I have seen the dialog from Jurah myself, I don't think there's a trogger of any sort, you just have to be lucky enough and die just a quarter of a second slower. You can't really ear it, but you can read the subtitles that pop up when the line begins.
I heard the dialog when I was planning the game when I didn't have Internet and the game wasn't patched yet, but it always was barley making it before the loading screen.
I believe that the reason you can no longer hear Djura's full monologue is because of the decrease in loading times which you did mention. I seems that the You Died message got shortened / the loading screen got a implemented quicker resulting in it being cut short. It also seems that your character is capable of taking damage prior to the loading screen fully ending and your PC spawning. If you have the chickage / health depleating gems you will have lost health before the loading screen ends. Just my thoughts though...
Hey Vaati, I don’t know if you have mentioned it before but if you get the Knight armor in Cainhurst Castle, as a male character then it will be black, but if you get it as a female character, then it will be red. I don’t know if that has anything to do with anything, I just find it kind of interesting.
I could be wrong, but i think you don't need actually encountered or slain darkbeast paarl in order to talk with Djura. If i remember correctly, the first time I managed to obtain the dialog with him was after I defeated blood starving beast. After that I just re-enter the area from good chalice lamp and that's it. Again, that could be just my lack of memory, so maybe someone could check this out? :)
I think I remember seeing the way to get the extra Djura dialogue is to be in a co-op session with someone else, and then let the host die to him. If you do that then I think his dialogue plays over you getting kicked out of their game.
VaatiVidya here seems reliable on Djura dialogue
I don't think this is the reason, because I have had both dialogues on separate characters, and neither of them used co-op throughout that area.
The difference between my 2 characters is that I defeated Amilia and befriended Djura on the one where I got that "think on its purpose" dialogue, so perhaps it has something to do with that.

Bloodborne is better that's why
BB was my first FromSoft game, followed quickly by DS3. Those two games, if you play them a certain way, feel almost identical. Stay away from shields in DS3 and the only real difference is the speed of the gameplay. Nothing will be as frantic or fast-paced as Bloodborne
the best thing to calm down after diyng several times to the same boss is simply watch some of your vids. thank you dear sir!
your voice is like an audible chocolate or an audible sepository.
So you love it and hate it? Or you love both? Or hate both?
118 people seem to agree with you
Things missed in old Yarnham: A story and a stable frame rate
I'm glad you have the ability to admit your mistakes. I would believe pretty much anything in your videos, so to see that you make sure to fact-check yourself makes me respect you quite a bit.
One secret is missing - secret entrance to find Rifle Spear and Charred Hunter Set for free!
Is it good that set?
its just gerhman's second phase set, so nothing much
I had the line that Djura says in my first playthrough he didn't get a chance to complete it but the subtitle showed up and it was "For the hunt and it's purpose"
Medorath The Wolf On my first playthrough, he didn't say anything at all.
aresdotexe don't know about you but i got to Djura 4 hours after the game released maybe a patch made it like this but with the game unpatched you see the dialogue in subtitle but he doesn't have enough time to say it
aresdotexe same here.... instead I am pretty sure he gave me the finger...
Great work!
I'm a huge fan of the souls series and of your channel in particular and just wanted to say how much your videos enhanced the Soul-Xperience for me and some of my friends!
Have to commend you for the content you managed to produce from the not so great Dark Souls 2 :)
Gave much more depth to the game.
Rob Borghese was looking for this. just start running halfway through the platform and jump on where the corpse with the molotovs is.
I love when you post new videos. Especially all these. Shows how expansive this world/game is and how deep it goes. Also you do an extremely well job at explaining what's going on while not sounding like an idiot and keeping it interesting. Great Job.
Man, I love listening to you talk. You have such a calm and soothing voice.
For the Bloody Meesenger you dont have to jump from that beam. You can go on the walkway below the beam and do it from there. A lot less risky.
Great vid Vaati! Keep these coming :).
Oh my god!!!! Vaati!!! your voice is so soft and apptopriately chilling. it really just sucks me in to the subject of every video you make. May the good blood guide your way.
+VaatiVidya can you do a things you missed for forbidden woods
pls vaati plsssssss
It's way easier and less risky to jump to the bloody messenger bandages from the neighboring platform with molotovs on the end. Just have to make a sharp turn and be quick on the 'O' press.
Thanks for the video Vaati!
6 years later and your videos are still coming through.
Just want to say thanks a lot Vaati for always uploading quality content and overall for just been a nice bloke Have a good one mate.
Just wanted to say I love these videos. Please keep posting!
But I am confused about 1 thing; how do we know that the Blood Starved Beast is female?
lostonthewayhere Honestly, I've always assumed the Blood Starved Beastie was a female. I have no explanation for this. . . that's a good question.
lostonthewayhere I think it's official information from the guide. The Beasts with veils on their heads are females and the rest are males.
I think we need a chosen undead to harvest the souls of these monsters, souls might have that info.
lostonthewayhere Can't you see she's on her period? Duh.
Loading time, before the video starts, is always a good time to hit like button. Only in VaatiVidya channel.
4 years later and this video taught me something new.
For your question the best answer I can give is:
Its what happens when a game does patches, some things change, others stay the same and some things gets even more subtle. Yes they are making the game game more subtle. Gotta love that.
I don't know if it's been answered, but in the 1.0 patch--that is, launching the game offline and not patching whatsoever--allows you to hear that last snip of dialogue.
Goddamnit Vaati.
Why is your TH-cam content so godlike?
Wanna say I still watch your videos. I love bloodborne and the lore behind it. Huge fan of the powder keggers
Can't wait to see another Lore video!
you did a good job helping us find these thing thanks for telling us how to find these I have watched your vids for a long time now and I like to see what I missed thank you for telling me the lore ^^
I think you activated a death cam in that top down view. That’s used in dark souls speedruns to get into sens fortress without ringing the bells.
@2:15 You can do that from the platform below too. It's easier.
More "Things You Missed" videos would be awesome. Great Bloodborne and Dark Souls Lore videos btw. I have to say I think you have some of the best.
Love your videos man. Keep it up.
Thanks for the video! I've finished the game and I'm on my 2nd go now trying to spot all this kind of stuff. Love the game!
If you drop down on the same level as the first hunter there are a bunch of crows and if you look theres a gap in the railing behind them. A bunch of good items on the way up
Still a another great vid
I'm in my first playthru of bloodborne, somewhat late to the curve, died to the bloodstarved beast a tonne, with alfred there to help, decided to go exploring in Cathedral Ward some more instead, beat amelia after a few tries, then proceeded to have to beat the blood-starved beast without alfred, which cost me a lot of echoes in antidotes.
I love all your videos man I just got into Bloodborne and I love every second of it and your videos have been very entertaining and helpful thank you so much 🙏
7 years and we STILL play this fucking game, I love you all Bloodborne players. Have a nice hunt out there.
in the first patch version of the game the djura dialogue was there but they just took it out entirely because when you died you died too fast and couldn't hear it but you could see the subtitles come up
@1:56 can permanently aggro Djura fyi. So, watch out.
I'm a new subscriber, and I have to say, I love your dark souls and bloodborne content. Keep it up bro!
You forget about the charred hunters garb, which is tucked away but makes fights like Watchdog of the Old Ones a little easier
I had heard that extra bit of dialogue, but I never noticed it got cut off.
I've heard Djuras dialogue to the point of "give some thought to the Hunt", but "and it's purpose" was always cut off (even though the subtitles did show what he was going to say).
I suspect it's got to do with the patches speeding up load times. You might get more of his dialogue by playing the release version of Bloodborne.
for everyone wondering, the mistake was the Miyazaki not wanting feedback on Paal, which wasn't true.
If you check out Ellajaz's video old yharnam bloodborne Playthrough #3, about 11 minutes in it has the part where djura says the extra line
Got recommended this 5 years later, wonder who else will show? Also, Alfred being summoned for the BSB fight makes it much harder if you try to parry
You da man Vaati.. You da man.
You can't really ear it, but you can read the subtitles that pop up when the line begins.
wonderful vids men hope more will come
I heard the dialog when I was planning the game when I didn't have Internet and the game wasn't patched yet, but it always was barley making it before the loading screen.
