Kyle is a great guy. He took time out of his day to talk to message me when I was having issues with renesis rotors in a 13b. Very humble, with loads of information.
Great informative video. I have tested APV left open vs working normally on my turbo Renesis and there definitely is a power loss below 6000 with them left open.
Kyle is one of the best individuals ever he is super friendly and helpful to everybody in the rotary community, he was more than willing to answer any questions I had about my fd.
kyle is the goat. Find me someone in motorsports that has that much passion and will talk to you like you are his friend. So much technical stuff to learn! I love it😊💪
Thanks to both of you for a very informative video addressing the real world issues of the turbo hybrid. I’ve had the chance to discuss rotary use for aviation with Kyle, what a super nice guy!!
Men love you're work... I just have to say this I built mu first 13b extended bridge port experiment in the late 90 1997 to be exact I bought my first srs 1 rx7 pulled the 12a and built in my garage a 13b I used r5 plates back then 4 port extended bridge port some call it a j port was cut into rotor housings I ran stock assembly as I was a 1st year apprentice welder with no cash so I ran a lightened fly wheel a 48 ida webber with extended fuel bowl port matched with a exhaust I built was duel extractors steam pipe with 2 2 foot hot dog custom made out of stainless steel and stainless steel swarf packed and a custom built 2 n half rear muffler with a offset chamber in the centre I ran a srs 2 rx7 electronic ignition a ball bearing needle and seat light fly wheel heavy clutch STD rx7 g box and this srs 1 rx7 ripped I mean man it fkn ripped everything that rolled up on me I usto have people pull me up in traffic and proceed to say they heard about me and would I run them lol no lie and every run I had rolling start stop start I wasted them factory mazda balance factory stock seals man that car was sick I guess what I'm trying to say is dahm it would be nice if you guys could push a renesis na to its fullest potential just by doing intake and exhaust and tumbling mods just to have it smash out all the renesis rims instead of all the mods to build a limited restricted boost build don't get me wrong pls I frkn love rotor cars I still own 2 rx8s a rx3 coupe clone and a rx7srs 2 13b turbo 2 of wich I have owned since 1997.. cheers to the new years live you're work . 13b kangaroo.
Live a life you don't need a vacation from, i keep hearing u say it and at 40 i have never really took a vacation from my crappy life I love....thanks for the awesome knowledge...does this guy have class that goes around with formula d teaching about rotory engines
Best Xmas / new year's present ever to get inside kyle's head or have a chance to hear his thinking, and draw from that amazing experience, magnificent to sit back and listen.
Awesome video. Great to see the two of you talking rotary builds. I have to rebuild my Renesis again ( I screwed up) as it runs great but smokes like a freight train lol. Happy New Year
Thank you for the video it is helping me a lot, i just start my project for a hybrid, but can you please show at the next video options for the intake on a turbo application. I want to make 500hp on it.
Water/meth injection ~ not for performance but for keeping the engine internals cleaner and cooler. I knew a guy years ago who explained the benefits and when he tore the motor down for inspections it was like new inside.
How much boost will plastic intake hold, could it be modified say plastic welded ?? I have watched you both individually for past couple of years great to see you come together u make a great team love the vids keep them coming .
Ok so good info, but you guys never talked about what the max whp is once those mods are performed. Is 400 the maximum? Or whats the maximum? I thought this video was gonna talk about the limits of a renesis/hybrid built block with the mods that were talked about. Cmon guys we are still left wondering.
Can you convince billet pro to make a billet Renesis to address the issue of lack of material ... Also can lower compression rotors be used or manufactured? That would make the Renesis hybrid awesome ... r.
Cast iron usually cracks when welded even if pre-heated and slow cooled properly. Welding puts so much stress into the part that in use it will usually crack even if it appeared solid at room temperature.
I don't really understand what the benefit is from building one of these "hybrid" engines outside the RX-8 platform. Even within the RX-8 platform, running exhaust to a turbo through 6 smallish ports instead of 2 large ports doesn't really make sense. Redesigning and building an engine that was never intended to be boosted sounds like an uphill battle when Mazda already had engines that were ready for boost. I understand the benefits of turbocharging a Renesis from the intake perspective. It has larger ports, and thus more airflow. The exhaust is going to favor exiting through the peripheral exhaust port though, so any benefits this engine offers on the intake side seems negated by having to run a specific combination of parts to make it work "right." In short, I still think the 13B-RE twin turbo was the best turbo 2 rotor Mazda ever built. All this turbocharging a Renesis stuff just seems like a bandaid for the Renesis' inherent lack of power.

Love the hybrid series
Me too

kyle is a legend, love the videos yall have been doing. miss my rotaries.

Dude, more videos like this need to be in existence. Make this into a manual / handbook as well @___@
I'd be cool.
Kyle is my fav Drift driver im following him couple years now his Rx8 its a BEAST
It's great to see you two work together and bring all the information. 👍👍👍

KMR!
LETS GOOOO!
Hope to do something like this in my 6 speed one day
Love the hybrid series! Thanks guys!
Hyped to see you making vids with Kyle!

i came to an idea for the actuators: you make them boost driven instead of rpm driven
Hybrid is the way
Someone tell Gears & Gasoline that porting the plastic intake manifold is good for a few HP. They were close to 200. 193 on the dyno. @9:50

I love the hybrid Topic, Also, building my own hybrid engine.
What do you think of Rob Dahm rotor engine longevity & reliability myth busting videos?
thanks both for the wisdom
The e85 will also help with carbon buildup.
Talking that brap!
Can you convince billet pro to make a billet Renesis to address the issue of lack of material ... Also can lower compression rotors be used or manufactured? That would make the Renesis hybrid awesome ... r.
Im doing this to my winning blue 04 in 2025🎉 cheers
Awesome 👍
*Can you weld some reinforcement into the block to prevent cracking?*
Cast iron is tricky to weld without compromising its strength. But maybe
Cast iron usually cracks when welded even if pre-heated and slow cooled properly. Welding puts so much stress into the part that in use it will usually crack even if it appeared solid at room temperature.
Mazdatrix rocks!
Rotary life
Older iron is and always will be better metal.

What about an electric compressor like the new Honda 3 cylinder
The biggest restriction boosted is the high compression rotor's. The only way the hybrid works NA is blocking off the iron exhaust ports completely.
Has this been done successfully?
Yes fucking epic !!!
