Dude! As a student I cannot IMAGINE creating something of this calibre while in school. You’re incredible and I’m in awe. And I hope you don’t feel pressured to create, or guilty when you don’t put out content. Your videos are amazing but you don’t owe the Internet anything.
Agree. I'd rather wait Ling periods for quality content than be bombarded with daily or weekly content that's thrown together for the sake of putting SOMETHING out. Quality counts.
i feel like people say she's a bad dancer or she's not that talented or whatever is purely becasue she makes very, very difficult stuff look ridiculously easy. the shit she does is hard. like, she's out here backflipping and dancing in a voice that isn't even her natural singing voice, etc etc and she fkng KILLS IT every single time.
Also i feel like the ones who say somthing like that are the ones who only have seen performances of current britney or britney after 2007, theres no way you can tell me that she's stiff or not a great dancer when talking about her in her prime
1998-2004 Britney Spears was the last global international superstar. People were comparing her to Madonna & Michael Jackson at the time, she was the biggest superstar in the world. This was pre-social media and she was still so omnipresent. Anytime you went to a store, you see Britney on tabloid & magazine covers. Anytime you turned on the radio, Britney was on. Anytime you turn on MTV, Britney’s music videos played. Anytime Britney did something, she was international news. That type of star power doesn’t exist anymore, she ruled the world with a wave of her hands. She truly earned the title of “Princess of Pop”.
Britney is a legend and the only princess of pop that's true!!! What she accomplished simply can't be surpassed, she will forever be the standard. Yet I have to disagree on her being the last global international superstar, I think that's Justin Bieber. I know a lot of ppl don't like him but his life and career path is very reminiscent of Britney's, especially their younger years. The only difference is Justin's debut happened at the beginning of social media era, even through it, and thanks to it.
you're saying we haven't had any international global superstars since 2004? really?? not lady gaga? not rihanna? not katy perry? not taylor swift? not ariana grande? not dua lipa? not miley cyrus? not justin bieber? not harry styles? not adele? i mean seriously, i love britney, but she was NOT the final superstar to ever exist lol, so delusional.
It is WILD to me that Mila has only ten videos and is such a fantastic creator and story teller. I’m so excited to see what she covers next. Mila Tequila: New Millenia Historian Extraordinaire
It feels like she’s been making these for forever I was shocked when I went to her channel for the first time looking for more and saw I’ve already viewed all her stuff
crazy thing is people criticize britt for having “messy” hair or makeup or wearing what she wants to wear but in this video you can clearly see she’s always been like that and i’m happy to have her back 😌
lately though, sis’ hair has been laid! i’m happy that it’s on her own free will back then and now! you can see that they weren’t letting her treat herself
When she was performing it looked put together, that look was kinda popular. When she was just walking around in the streets she looks like most of young women us did back then, when walking done the street.
What?! I’ve never heard criticisms about her hair?! I have always loved Britney’s hair choices and based a birthday hair off one style, and an incredible choppy wolfy cut. Ok I’m gonna tell ya which. Stronger hair tousled and straight pieces for my “21st” birthday hair My prerogative choppy hair. I looooooved both of those styles so much. Like I actually printed pics for the hair dresser.
she's back back back again! and just in time for the holiday season. best christmas ever! i wish we could all have a zoom party celebrating britney's freedom.
I remember being like 7 or 8 and BEGGING my parents for THE iconic Brittney spears perfume for Christmas. The little blue one. My dad threw a fit when my grandma got it for me and said I smelt like a hooker 😂 Christmas dinner was heated that year because of miss Brittney ❤
I really appreciated a full feature length video on Britney’s music/legacy and not about her “controversies.” She deserves so much more than to live in the shadow of her father’s abuse and mistreatment by the media. Britney set the bar.
I can't imagine the trauma of being a sex symbol at 17. Of course she had a breakdown - anyone would under those circumstances! This video was amazing, so happy to see you back!
Prediction: this girl will be producing, researching, writing, editing, and/or directing biographies/documentaries for a big network one day. Standing ovation. 👏👏👏👏
This was done, SO WELL. I’ve never been much of a Britney fan, but obviously what she went through was horrendous. And you really killed it with each era and I learned so much. Great job!!!
I’m the same here actually. Personally, only knew her for her recent situation, and also amazing songs (from gachalife: I’m in love with a criminal and toxic). Also, amazing voice, I’m listening to this like an audio book
I guess I didn't realize how close Britney had those babies. But as someone who had two babies that close together she shaved her head right around the time all her hair would have been falling out from postpartum hormones... so maybe it was something she had been thinking about for awhile coupled with the stress from the situation she was in. I don't know if I've ever seen that idea floated in any of the discourse surrounding her blackout era before.
I think you could be right and it would be really tragic if this was the case, since everyone made her out to be so crazy when she shaved her head and also because even today female celebrities aren’t *really* allowed to talk about how their bodies have been negatively impacted by pregnancy, so she definitely wouldn’t have been able to talk about it back in 2007.
Postpartum hair loss could be part of it, but I remember reading recently that in an interview she said she shaved her head because she wanted to rebel. I think she said a bit more, but I can’t remember what else she said. It might be in an interview with Matt lauer.
@Annie Laurin you can watch the interview where she says why she shaved her head. It had nothing to do with drug tests. She said she wanted to rebel and make a choice for herself. Even the person who owned the salon gave interviews saying when Britney came in and ended up shaving her own head, she said the Britney was smiling and said things like “my mom is gonna kill me” and “I just want them to stop touching me all the time.”
this is literally my comfort video, i've rewatched TONS of times. the way you explain all of britney's history is done in such a superb way. ur such a talented queen
The fact that I remember so vividly when I was younger everyone fat shaming Britney Spears for her Gimme More VMA performance is so sad like 1. her body has nothing to do with anyone but 2. she literally still looks like a size small after having two kids 🥵 also that song slaps AND the album is 100% my favorite Britney album. Just so sad looking back at how people treated her.
Same! I remember this came out as I was gaining weight (I'm same age as Brit) and I thought she looked great and I was much bigger than her and it definitely had me questioning some of my life choices lol! Poor Brit. 🖤💜👀
If u watch the rehearsal video, you'll see they used a wide lens on the live performance which made her look larger. She looks nothing like that in the rehearsal, check it out
I remember seeign it in the magazine and I went along with the narrative that she was fat I was still a teen and unaware Plus just about every media outlet fed us super skinny models etc How fucked up Like seriously!🤦♂️
As a fan who witnessed Britney's career since the beginning (I video recorded all her performances. The Hawaii special was my favorite!!), you captured this wonderfully. It took me back and kids today won't know how magical and exciting it was. Being an iconic pop star like this was otherworldly because we didn't have inside access to them like we do today.
Thank you for stating that the performance during the 2007 VMAs was not as horrific as people made it out to be. She worked her ass off and she still was fabulous
Been a big fan of Britney since the beginning. She has stacks of charisma and passion. Her dancing is top notch. The only other star to go as hard since imo is Beyoncé. I also love her voice, she expresses so much personality and emotion. It’s a crying shame the charts don’t accurately reflect her impact. (The charts from that time were badly affected by the emergence of the internet and the music industry was slow to catch up.)
your conclusion lowkey made me cry. she really is such an icon. and I hope moving forward we'll celebrate all the incredible things she's done, and all the horrible shit she's been through will be a small footnote in her legacy.
I went to the Circus tour when it came to my city, here in Australia, and honestly, the show was such a blast for me! I remember the media backlash from the tour which was really upsetting to see but for me, I absolutely loved the concert and pretty much cried when Britney came down from the roof in the ringleader outfit 🥺 ICONIC! I knew this was going to be my one and only chance to see Britney in concert and I didn't care at all that she was lip syncing! I just wanted to be in her presence and see her perform and this concert low key lives in my mind rent free 🥰
@Hannah Same except the Perth concert for me! Honestly couldn’t believe she came to Perth since back then no one was coming to Perth 🤣🤣 omg yes! Forgot she sang Everytime with live vocal 🥺😭 ugh, the media were so vile to her and the Circus tour. Back then it was considered “cool” to make fun of Britney and write negative stories about her. The media never said anything positive about the concert itself and the amount of work that was put into it and they only focused on the lip synching. I felt so bad for her seeing as it was the first and only time she ever came here 😢 the concert was a once in a lifetime experience and was such an amazing night and would 100% see her again if there ever was another chance 😍
the last 4 times i watched this video I thought to myself, "ok I won't need to watch this again I've basically memorized it" but here I am again, with no regrets, drinking wine w/you. Incredible
Hi guys!!! I'm Mexican. I'll give you a bit of context on the canceled concert here. The Mexican press in general sucks. They're so extremists: they either love you a lot or they humiliate you and unprofessional. the questions they asked her were very disrespectful, the only kind one was Adal Ramones (he was hosting a talk show called "Otro Rollo"). Also the storms here in Mexico City are strong (I live so close to where she performed) and she did the right thing, it was very risky for the dancers. On the other hand, during the Femme Fatale Tour, B gave us a normal concert (at the Foro Sol) and another free one for the folks of the city (dealt with the government), for which she made up for the canceled concert years later Sorry if something is not understood, my English isn't good, please be kind. Xo
Trying to sing AND dance at the same time is difficult. I wouldn’t blame her for lip syncing while dancing bc her dancing is insane! Say whatever you want about Brit, but you can’t deny that the girl can dance. She is so talented and I’m so happy she is finally free. 💕
IKR The amount of breath control it takes to sing well is so much that the idea of doing that and singing completely live while doing the hard cardio jumping and dancing. It’s like man when do you want her to breathe!
That's the thing though. At some point you have to choose whether you are primarily a dancer or a singer. I don't know about you, but I will always prefer singing in music. Dancing isn't nescessary and is really just something extra.
@@May04bwu well Britney do both she has performances where she focus more on the dancing and others where she focus on the singing, which is great because she’s diverse
@@May04bwu female artists don't usually have the opportunity to choose between dancing and singing tho, women in the industry are just held onto a higher standard. The way Taylor swift & Dua lipa were treated for their dancing is not close for the reactions of performances of Ed Sheeran or Shawn Mendes (or almost any other male artist). Women are expected to do more while men can allow themselves to be mediocre.
@@May04bwu There's a difference between singers and performers though. Britney is a performer, she's not a top class vocalist (she does have a great voice). But a part of her songs has ALWAYS been her dancing, whether I her videos or in the performances she creates on stage. There is no Britney without the dancing!
I was 11 years old when “baby one more time” came out and have followed Britney’s career ever since. I had every magazine with her on it, britney dolls, watched anything on MTV she was on (omg the special they had when the BRITNEY album was coming out!). It was so nice to watch this and relive some of her biggest moments. Thank you for putting this together. You are incredibly talented and so attentive to detail.
I feel so lucky to have grown up with Britney’s come up in fame. I got her CD for Christmas as the first ever CD I owned, back when CDs were a thing. I cherished it. I spent hours in my room making up choreography to her albums. When I eventually later took dance classes Toxic was one of the first songs I performed to. She is truly iconic and a major part of my childhood that I am insanely grateful for
Yes! Your timing is perfect considering everything happening with Britney! She is definitely an undeniable icon. No one can take that away from her. So excited to watch this!! 🙆🏻♀️
GIRL Britney flipping the paparazzi off in Mexico was so iconic that giving the finger to someone was referred as "the Britney sign" (la Britney señal) ever since YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW
I will NEVER forget rushing home from school every day to watch TRL at 3:30pm and the exact moment I first saw baby one more time music video when it premiered for the first time. I was in AWE! She was EVERYTHING to me and I have loved her ever since. I am now 35 and I am so happy I got to be there for all of Britney’s incredible moments! It was a time in history that can never be recreated again!
Circus era was a pivotal moment for me. I was 10 or 11 and before really only knew Britney from grocery store tabloids. This made me love her. I would wake up at 6am and watch music videos on mtv before school. I was mesmerized by the circus video and it’s still my favorite song. I remember reading Percy Jackson and listening to if u seek Amy on my radio. I think that’s where my love for her (and Gaga) comes from cause she was there when I was at such a transitional age and time.
The Circus album was like this for me too! I stumbled upon old music vids of hers on TH-cam which led me to The Circus Tour videos (she was still on tour at this time) and i was MESMERISED. This era was what made me a Britney stan
yes same!!! i was 11 too - the fame was the very first album I ever bought with my own money and I received circus that year at Christmas- to this day those two albums have such a special place in my heart 😭
Sameee i was 14 when i stan her In 2009 and watched her old videos and I'm like omg is that the Britney that i used to listen on the radio back in 2004 when i was just 8? Cause i was just a casual listener, then i became obsessed with her lol
I haven’t finished watching yet but just wanted to say you are officially one of the best creators on the platform!! This really brings me back to the VH1 documentary days
@@paula92111 Right? Her intro is so masterful. That Myspace login, the flip phone... Every frame is a powerful nugget of nostalgia that takes me right back to junior high, and those amazing nights spent flicking between MTV and E! with my best friends til the early hours.
I love her so much she's such an inspiration to me. I was in a controlling and abusive environment my whole life and I finally got a lot more freedom this year. So Britneys story is so relatable and she's like my inspiration to keep being strong and to be positive and not give up. It's tough knowing what happened to her all these years. But it's 2021 and she's free and so am i. And nobody owns my body or my mind. It belongs to ME. And if people get uncomfortable from a "crazy" person being themselves they can f off 😇
It is so so refreshing to see someone make a video about Britney that’s not about her conservatorship (which is also extremely important but has been covered extensively) but about her career. People have forgotten just how much she accomplished!! ❤️
I’m currently 44, so I was pretty aware of every Britney incarnation and pretty much every move she made, as she was just that huge. But I think that what the public assumed was happening to her is that she wasn’t living up to her potential. Now, I wasn’t one of those people...which, I’m not a general fan of pop music anyway, but again, her name and face were everywhere in the 2000’s. You said it yourself that she had set such a high bar, she herself couldn’t even live up to it. People perceived early prime Britney as a literal goddess; she had the looks, the talent, the record sales, the money, etc and we really got used to seeing her in that light. Then she goes off and gets pregnant by some wanna be white boy rapper, she’s doing weird stuff with the kids, she’s wearing weird wigs and partying with B-list socialite celebrities, etc. And I just think that the people who had gotten used to seeing her in that light of “perfection” were extremely disappointed in her choices. She was being bullied by the media, the paparazzi, being called white trash, she had that awful interview with Diane Sawyer, and I think that “comeback” performance really stuck a fork it the whole phenomenon. Judging by her expressions and lack of/lazy dancing, the weird hair...it just confused people. And the reason we love celebrities is because we idolize and view them as “better” than the average person. Once a celebrity is no longer viable in that sense, their star often dims significantly. Now, reading back over what I just typed, you’d think that the person who wrote it, or anyone who has those qualities, was a psychopath. Well, yeah. Celebrity makes no sense. We logically know that they’re people just like us, they have the same emotions and insecurities that we do, they have issues like we do, they have babies and gain weight JUST LIKE normal people! But something in our brain acknowledges all of that...and then says, “But...”. We place such heavy loads on them that really just are not fair. In fact, it’s immoral. Britney is owed the biggest possible apology from us. And she deserves to give us the biggest “Fuck you”.
@@maggiekarabel123 I dare say, Britney has the potential to be a great actress. I think she was great in Crossroads. The movie itself just suffered from a lazy script. She also has great comedic timing, judging from her guest appearances in How I Met Your Mother and Will & Grace.
Thank you for this! I’m so tired of Britney videos on her personal life & controversies. (Yes I care about her & want the best for her), but I still want to appreciate the music, that’s why I fell in love with her in the first place. I always try to find videos really breaking down each era, but it’s hard. For me - I personally loved the Circus album & era. It’s special to me & I think underrated as a Britney fav.
Can we please get a One Direction era video? Also, the video on the teen mom obsession in the 2000s sounds like an amazing idea! I love this channel and this video was soooo worth the wait!
The editing, both visually and structurally, the smooth narration, the effects, Mila you have truly outdone yourself. I mean the passion poured into this documentary is awe inspiring. One of my fave creators on youtube right now. I love and appreciate all your hardwork into this video, especially as someone who LOVES Britney as well as popstars and eras. AMAZING.
32:28 - I was a tween/teenager when Britney's career took off, and I can't possibly over-emphasize how she much the media attention around her centered around her saving her virginity for marriage. I'm certain it was a marketing tactic much like it was with the Jonas Brothers, but purity culture was making a comeback at that time, so it was weird when her image went from relatively wholesome (minus the Baby One More Time video) to overtly sexual and suggestive. She was STILL being encouraged to say she was still a virgin when she was performing songs like Slave 4 U, so that's why it was considered a big deal at the time, because Justin basically outed to the world that she was lying about her virginity. I feel so bad for her, being put into a corner like that when she was only like 16 years old and then being forced to comply with an image that didn't fit her as an adult, and THEN to have her ex-boyfriend talk about personal details on air and making it seem like she was some terrible liar when she literally was just doing what her PR team told her to do.
Miley, Mariah, JANET, Beyoncé starting with Destiny’s Child, Backstreet Boys, and just because her music was my guilty pleasure as a teen, Mandy Moore.
Excuse me, but the "sexy horse scenes" in Radar we're literally HILARIOUS and MADE the video. It's literally what I think of when I think of that song and it makes me giggle every time. Which is very Britney. She's so freaking funny.
I barley have words for Britney’s impact. I’m only a 17 year old Scandinavian girl, meaning i did not grow up listening to Britney at all, i just recently started to actually listen to her music, but i am absolutely floored. Her story is so sad, seeing her completely break down and disintegrate from the strong iconic independent BADDIE that she was, to a puppet, is just… im so so happy we’re seeing her coming back, and that her spirit isn’t all broken. God, Britney, i love you so much.
when watching the recent britney docs i’ve always been left wanting more of a dive into her discography and performance history rather than just the conservatorship situation, and i feel that u nailed it with this video !!! so glad ur back, u did an incredible job :)
God, Britney is just gorgeous, I swear. Great video!! Didn't think I'd watch a 2 hour deep dive of Britney (even though I'm a 32 year old millenial so obviously grew up with her. Love her.) but you made this so interesting & enjoyable :) Much love!
1. I'm SO glad you're back! I'm 30,so all of your content takes me back to "the good old days" lol 2.That first album was STACKED,OK?! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 3.Again,so glad you're back, you're one of my favorites and I'm really glad that you make these videos because they're so well done and it's something that I didn't know I was missing! You're just great 🥰💚
I’m in my early 30’s too and feel the same way. It’s fun to see people younger than me interested in the stuff that was popular when I was a teenager…nostalgia really is the most powerful emotion lol
that is EXACTLY why i prefer the original overprotected, too! i don't remember a whole lot about my childhood (thanks, trauma!) but the 'britney' to 'in the zone' era is still incredibly vivid for me. it brought me from a little 9 year old, all the way to a slightly older but still little 11 year old on the cusp of getting her first period, very much facing down the barrel of puberty. i saw crossroads in theater three times, memorized the overprotected choreo with my two best friends, and obsessed over britney's numerous pairs of bedazzled low rise bell-bottom jeans wishing i had the hip dips to pull them off. oh, how trends change! now we have women hating themselves for their hip dips, while full round hips are now the thing. just goes to show how much it's bullshit! don't ever hate your body for not fitting the "trend", it's not worth it. i remember when i listened to 'breathe on me' for the first time!! it completely rocked my 11 year old brain. i remember thinking it was the sexiest thing ever, and to this day my opinion still hasn't changed. talk about being ahead of its time! i'm still waiting for the day it gets justice in the form of a really sickening drag performance, cus goddamn if the gays don't love breathe on me, who will?
LOL we're the same age -- I just wrote in my comment how my favourite song was Touch Of My Hand and then I read online it was about masturbation and I was like :OOOO!!!!!! scandalous
I love Circus. It's her 4th best album in my opinion. I didn't like it during its release for the same reason you mentioned, blackout just set the bar too high. but later listened to Circus again in 2011 and had a new found love for it after just thinking it was bland for a while. I think if you look at it as a stand alone album and not as her comeback album it's a really really solid album. A ton of 10/10 tracks. Womanizer, Circus, If U Seek Amy, Mannequin, Blur, Out From Under, Shattered Glass, Unusual You, all 10/10
I thought Circus the single was incredible but it did take a second listen to feel the impact because Blackout is just so damn good. Something I always find interesting is that Blackout was supposedly made while she was at rock bottom. And yet it’s considered her best, it was named one of the top albums of year by Rolling Stone. Why didn’t it hit us at that point that maybe she was more than capable of handling herself? I keep thinking about her court testimony, “I wasn’t good, I was great.” Yeah you were girl, say it louder. Edit: Shattered Glass is SO GOOD.
agree completely, it’s my top album, granted i think that’s just nostalgia reasons because i got the CD as a christmas present, BUT circus the song is britney’s BEST imo
FUN FACT: When Britney was in Mexico and she gave "the finger" .I. to the reporters, that became madly iconic. She was so criticized for it, that even nowadays people still calling that: la Britneyseñal (the Britney sign). I know this because I'm Mexican and I remember the smear campaign against her. I believe it was one of the worst tours for her. She cried behind the stage of a very popular show (Otro Rollo) and the host consoled her and teaches her to dance some Mexican music on the show, that helped her a lot with the people sympathy. th-cam.com/video/veaunOrkcTM/w-d-xo.html from min 4:45 Great Video BTW. Keep it up !!
i've never really in-depth listened to britney's music (but of course i know her hits), and i kept up with #freebritney but all in all was never, like, a real fan. clicked on the video anyway bc your content is amazing but watching through it made me really want to know more about britney and her career. you're actually SO good at this bc you presenting this information made me care about it. this video was absolutely AMAZING, SO informative and as always i love the way you present everything and your personality on video. the amount of research for this video--and all your videos tbh--is astounding and so impressive, THANK YOU for making videos.
literally exact same situation with me lmao. i checked out Deep Dive as mila suggested and watched all of their britney docs and have been listening to more britney music since watching this lol
When this whole free brittany thing started I was like yeah that’s messed up. She should be free. After watching this and her court apparence, the clip that you put of everyone celebrating her freedom literally brought tears to my eyes. You really highlighted just how much control she lost over the years and I’m just so happy she’s allowed to be her authentic self again
I screamed and cried when this showed up in my subscription feed. I got some terrible family news yesterday, and Britney Spears is my favorite artist of all time. And you are my fave TH-camr! Thank you for making my week that much better. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRITNEY!!! ❤️
Thank you for mentioning the young ones at the Onyx Hotel Tour. I was 13 with my 14 year old sister and my parents. It’s was definitely uncomfortable seeing a couple of those performances with them. 😂 But it was still a fantastic show. Shadow will always be one of my favorite concert performances. ❤️
Many of us won’t admit it but we fell off the Britney train in 2008 and laughed at the tabloids exploiting her downfall. We wrote her off, as a has been and became outraged when the conservatorship was exposed. Britney’s true fans saw the warning signs and started a movement that resulted in her ultimate freedom. And we owe them greatly for this
as a kid i had a thing for liking the hated celebrities, I was 11 and on yahoo! OMG a lot in 2008 and i thought the articles were so ridiculous and clearly turning woman against each other. I've been a Miley, Britney, Lindsay, Paris, Ashlee simpson fan for ages lol. I never cared of the public opinion of em.
@@melodyspalace no but srs, i hate how with the free Britney movement came a lot of old ass millennials talking about "we all said nasty things- we all laughed & now i feel bad 😞" um- no? I was a child. most of y'all were grown teens or even working adults writing nasty think pieces and tabloid reports about her.
Britney Spears is a living legend, a top notch performer, a survivor with incredible strength of character, and she happens to be the sweetest celebrity out there. I'm so glad she's finally free from her conservatorship, and I hope she can finally live her life the way she pleases as an independent woman! 'Britney' will always be my favorite album and era of hers because you can see her coming into her own as an artist in real time! Not to mention, the songs on that album are absolute BANGERS! No skips here! And her red carpet and music video looks were so beautiful, colorful, and experimental from 2001-2002! Side note: Mila, you are literally one of the most in-depth pop culture anthropologists/historians out there. Not to mention, the production quality and editing of your videos are always incredible. Your hard work does not go unnoticed! ❤️❤️❤️
this video took me two days to finish due to college finals, but wow was it worth it. you covered so much in one video and you managed to make it informative and entertaining, which is literally something to be so proud of. i never really knew that much about britney other than the music i grew up with, but you've really opened my eyes to everything she's accomplished in her career so far. incredible video as always :)
You, your attitude, your respect toward Britney, your adamant defense of her when warranted & honest criticism when it was called for, & just the whole of your video, changed my opinion of Britney. I was always casually dismissive of her on the whole but I produced a tear after being pretty choked up here in the last couple minutes while you're expressing your wishes for her future. You did her & her legacy proper in this video. I appreciate being shown how wrong I've been about her. Despite going through a lot of the same life trauma, mental issues, family stuff, parenting,& successes at the same time & same age as her, but without the fame & fortune, I never gave her credit or had much respect for her as a person or artist but you laid out a very convincing case in support of everything Britney. She is lucky to have such loyal, ride or die fans & she deserves every one and more. It was a pleasure to watch every minute of your video. Thank you from the bottom of my critical, cynical, bitchy heart.
Mila, as a fan of Britney and a person who lived through the entire 00s era, I feel that this video is a great tribute to the artist that she is and also to all of us! It is impeccable. I congratulate you for remembering these times so well! Thank you! Greetings from argentina 🇦🇷!!
this is my comfort video i genuinely lost count of how many times I've watched it.. as a 2003 baby my understanding of Britany's impact comes from u queenie
I now need to do the deepest dive into Britney's discography because Blackout is the only album I've fully listened to, and of course my Y2K playlist features her iconic bangers from other eras. I also have many docs and music vids to watch that I havent before. And lastly but most importantly, you are a helluva gal, Mila! Over two hours? We thank you for your service.
Okay, so I’m like half way through and I am so emotional. For Christmas when I was 8 years old I was gifted a cassette player and Britney’s first album, ON CASSETTE. I played it constantly until it eventually broke. I bought every single cassette and CD. I remember when Toxic came out, I physically wrote out the lyrics to every single song in a notebook. I just love her so much, I always have. ALSO I went to the Toxic tour actually! I was in 5th grade with my mom, and yes that very sexual part of the concert was very awkward with my mom but fun fact, the opening act was Kelis aka the woman who sang “my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard”. Wow, 29 now I really grew up always in love. It was so fun hearing parts of each song too because I still know every single word to every song ❤️
The notebooks full of lyrics! I forgot we used to do that! Painstakingly spending hours writing every word down because that was the only way to have them at the time
I literally never rewatch TH-cam videos, but this is my 3rd time watching your video. Its literally my comfort video, and I'm thankful for all the attention and intention you put in all the videos on your channel
Doja Cat is the only pop/rap star going as hard as Britney with her choreography. She was in a dance group before, but I definitely see her really owning this decade. Her performances and genre fluidity are already crazy good.
i love this!! you only talk about the positive about her career, you did cover part of her struggles but you really made it seen like it wasn’t any of our business whiich is kinda true. she may have gone thru mental shit that we shouldn’t be judging her for. but you really had some sort of respect for the negative. & i agree. if anyone wants a DEEP DIVE on what happened behind the scenes they should tune in to Deep Dive.
I was SO invested in this. I watched it from start to finish, only pausing to run outside for my Doordash order xD Thank you so much for this gem of a video. I've loved Britney since I was 8 years old (now 30), so I really appreciated it and loved it.
Girrrl not only was this so well put together, you just unlocked so many memories for me. Of course I remember baby Britney & coming into womanhood Brit but songs like Piece of Me, Radar, If You Seek Amy, Criminal - those songs were my SHIT lol. I had to go back & listen while watching this. Alot of her songs were bomb but that ‘fuck you pay me’ Britney is everythinggg period 😂❤️ Can you do Ciara or Keri Hilson or RiRi? I’d love to see thats
When I was a teen I remembered reading lots of magazines and one of them featured this super tiny article about Britney having to enter the conservatorship. It actually was sympathetic towards Britney and highlighting the fact, that there were many issues concerning her father. I also remember thinking how unfair and awful it was. Still boggles my mind
it's so refreshing seeing content about britney's great and iconic moments without only focusing on the sad parts of her story. i loved this so so much!!!!! can't wait for the next vid
the icon herself is back! liking and commenting before I even start the rest of it because I've only seen the intro so far, but I just know this is about to be an amazing video. i can tell you put ur heart and soul into it, I mean it's literally 2 hours long, and I know it was worth the wait. we appreciate ur hard work and dedication so much even if u have to be away for a long time!
Stg agreed! Brittney has always been an amazing performer! She legit dances while carrying a tune. MANY artist can't sing while dancing. She always nailed it
It’s great to see someone talking about Britney Spears for the reason we all love her (her music) and not the many controversies that plagued her in the 2000’s. Those things should be remembered too, but at a certain point I just want to gush about how amazing of an album In The Zone is.
so I'm not the type to leave long winded comments on youtube videos, so I'm gonna try to keep this quick(ish). but long story short, it's so refreshing to see a video going in depth into Britney's career, eras and general impact instead of just the injustices she's been through! not that they shouldn't be talked about, but it's good to be able to remember all that she contributed to the industry and pop culture in general. this video had me reminisce so hard, I traveled to another dimension. anyways, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to make this 2:19:35 long video. every minute was enjoyed! this channel is truly a national treasure and I'm very excited for future qualitiy content. also, outrageous is not even my favorite song but it lives in my mind rent free and I can never put on my sexy jeans without thinking about it of course. truly an icon.
Even though I wasn’t a Britney fan (until recently), I always payed attention to her vma performances. I think people made way too big of a deal for the 07 performance. I didn’t think it was bad, she just looked disinterested. Obviously more was going on than meets the eye, so I don’t understand why people freaked out over it. Tabloids at that time were so bizarre. I remember some *wild* headlines, not just about Britney, and I really can’t comprehend how those magazines weren’t sued into oblivion.
i think i remember sort of a break down of how suing prints (tabloids, magazines, newspaper) on basis of libel works in usa. but the gist of it was: there's a lot of leeway for the ones being sued to simply say that what they wrote was just an opinion. also, since stuff like libel and slander mostly hinges on the accusation that "these people are trying to tarnish my name and my reputation" the person making the accusation has to prove that the ones they're accusing do have that intent, which is obviously practically impossible.
I believe there are videos that talk about how many celebrities tip off the press and that her dad had a part in the way she was reported on at that time and even now around the ending of the conservatorship.
i loved britney since i was a kid. i remember my mom buying the circus perfume & it being my staple in 5-6th grade. i genuinely thought britney was going to commit suicide if her case wasn't taken seriously. i never saw the light. i am so happy she's free. the celebration video made me cry. she is a legend and we are so lucky to see her be lifted up by people that LOVE her and show empathy
I'm irish and Britney was always embraced. Like every single was on heavy rotation on radio. I think its because ireland was starting to shed its strict Catholic culture and britney was relatable in that way
loved this video! so in depth and so good: as a britney fan myself, i grew up being inspired by her (wanted to be a dancer as a kid, lol the mtv days) and never understood the media’s slander (hint: sexism! misogyny!) but one thing that stood out to me the most over the years, is her early years specifically, when she joined michael jackson in 2001 for his 30th anniversary (his ‘comeback’ era) because she was only 19! at the time. performing with the king of pop! and i heard that he specifically picked her because of her popularity! her entire career has been so fascinating to watch and revisit. great video once again mila! hope your studies are going well! :’)
The fact that you talk so highly about the “Till the World Ends” Remix makes me so happy. That song ruled my childhood for years, and I guarantee i can still bust out all of the lyrics.
If there were a means for you to do this full time, I’d place full value of the money out of my pocket to contribute. You are an essential image for the “behind the curtain” topic of so many icons that were just accepted and never looked at further. Thank you.
Britney is a queen and an icon! I was in 8th grade when Britney dropped her first single and it was out of this world from there on out!!! Her popularity and icon status and what she's done for pop culture is up there with Michael Jackson. I lived it and so glad I got to experience Britney!! Untouchable!! Amazing job on the video!! So glad Britney is Free!!

This!
i feel like people say she's a bad dancer or she's not that talented or whatever is purely becasue she makes very, very difficult stuff look ridiculously easy. the shit she does is hard. like, she's out here backflipping and dancing in a voice that isn't even her natural singing voice, etc etc and she fkng KILLS IT every single time.
She's a great dancer, her choreographers just come up with bad choreography.
Also i feel like the ones who say somthing like that are the ones who only have seen performances of current britney or britney after 2007, theres no way you can tell me that she's stiff or not a great dancer when talking about her in her prime
And they're ridiculously jealous, simple as that
@Calcifer she’s literally both a singer and a dancer, she can sing very well and dance very well
@Calcifer i mean if you want to go down that route, arguably every mainstream artists plus some indie ones are also "performers"
Legend
Britney is a legend and the only princess of pop that's true!!! What she accomplished simply can't be surpassed, she will forever be the standard. Yet I have to disagree on her being the last global international superstar, I think that's Justin Bieber. I know a lot of ppl don't like him but his life and career path is very reminiscent of Britney's, especially their younger years. The only difference is Justin's debut happened at the beginning of social media era, even through it, and thanks to it.
you're saying we haven't had any international global superstars since 2004? really?? not lady gaga? not rihanna? not katy perry? not taylor swift? not ariana grande? not dua lipa? not miley cyrus? not justin bieber? not harry styles? not adele? i mean seriously, i love britney, but she was NOT the final superstar to ever exist lol, so delusional.

crazy thing is people criticize britt for having “messy” hair or makeup or wearing what she wants to wear but in this video you can clearly see she’s always been like that and i’m happy to have her back 😌
Exactly! Let her live her life!
I still want her to look a bit more sleek but I've always thought that and still love her.
lately though, sis’ hair has been laid! i’m happy that it’s on her own free will back then and now! you can see that they weren’t letting her treat herself
Stronger hair tousled and straight pieces for my “21st” birthday hair
My prerogative choppy hair.
I looooooved both of those styles so much.
Like I actually printed pics for the hair dresser.
she's back back back again! and just in time for the holiday season. best christmas ever! i wish we could all have a zoom party celebrating britney's freedom.
Let’s gooo
I remember being like 7 or 8 and BEGGING my parents for THE iconic Brittney spears perfume for Christmas. The little blue one. My dad threw a fit when my grandma got it for me and said I smelt like a hooker 😂 Christmas dinner was heated that year because of miss Brittney ❤
You dad was WILD for that!! Sir, it's a PERFUME💀

I finally get an extensive chronological timeline of her career-- so well put together. Thank you for highlighting her successes!
to put it simply: this was a masterpiece. nothing makes me happier than seeing britney and her music/legacy being appreciated
Britney already spoke about why she shaved her head. Don’t put words in her mouth.
She shaved her head because she heard they could test her hair for pot, and she could lose her kids ....

Yess, currently sick in bed while watching this 🥰
And she is so young but so brilliant and had a good heart..unlike other professionals that no manner in throwing bad word to Britney
She looks nothing like that in the rehearsal, check it out
It's so weird because she was literally at an average and fine weight and was absolutely beautiful and still is
I remember seeign it in the magazine and I went along with the narrative that she was fat I was still a teen and unaware Plus just about every media outlet fed us super skinny models etc How fucked up Like seriously!🤦♂️
I remember this do much!!!!!! I was sooooo mad that people were saying that. She looked amazing!
As a millennial it’s so interesting to see pop culture moments I lived through be looked at as “history”. Your videos are always amazing!
So true!
Yes so true!
Very well said!
Exactly!
There will never be another Britney Spears or Beyoncé.
I watched all their music videos and concerts just for the choreo
Yeah Janet, Beyoncé, and Britney are the holy trinity of dance
your conclusion lowkey made me cry. she really is such an icon. and I hope moving forward we'll celebrate all the incredible things she's done, and all the horrible shit she's been through will be a small footnote in her legacy.
On the other hand, during the Femme Fatale Tour, B gave us a normal concert (at the Foro Sol) and another free one for the folks of the city (dealt with the government), for which she made up for the canceled concert years later
Sorry if something is not understood, my English isn't good, please be kind.

I feel so lucky to have grown up with Britney’s come up in fame. I got her CD for Christmas as the first ever CD I owned, back when CDs were a thing. I cherished it. I spent hours in my room making up choreography to her albums. When I eventually later took dance classes Toxic was one of the first songs I performed to. wishing nothing but the best for you!!!❤️❤️❤️
It is so so refreshing to see someone make a video about Britney that’s not about her conservatorship (which is also extremely important but has been covered extensively) but about her career.
The irony of Britney not being a good actor yet she acted like everything was ok for so long ♥️
Yeah but she never really seemed to be 100% okay to be honest...

Her acting is not that bad. I recently rewatched Crossroads. It’s still bad, but it has way more to do with the writing than Britney.
@@maggiekarabel123 I dare say, Britney has the potential to be a great actress. I think she was great in Crossroads. The movie itself just suffered from a lazy script.

hey!! “Hey Angel” here on TH-cam has a 5 part series on each era of One Direction divided into their albums.
@Lost pelican with her dad ??*?? Wtf
Girl, I NEED an Avril series pleeeeease
YES PLEASE
YES!!! ❤
yess
omg yes
YES YRESSSSS
This analysis of Britney Spears career is better than the actual documentaries that are out there!
This video was SO good, could you please do more full career analysis like this?
I vote for Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, or Miley
@@adriannacudia6297 same and Rihanna Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Ke$ha
Miley, Mariah, JANET, Beyoncé starting with Destiny’s Child, Backstreet Boys, and just because her music was my guilty pleasure as a teen, Mandy Moore.
I would love Miley or Demi. Or Rihanna/Beyoncé :)
Excuse me, but the "sexy horse scenes" in Radar we're literally HILARIOUS and MADE the video. It's literally what I think of when I think of that song and it makes me giggle every time. Which is very Britney. She's so freaking funny.
😂😂😂😂😂
"Animal in the sack" 🤣🤣
Dude… hilarious!!!! I love it.
I’m only 18 minutes in and can already tell that you’ve put so much hard work in! Glad you’re back to detail the most iconic era ever
holy sht i didnt even realize it was 2 hrs long lol here for the ride beep beep
And when the world needed her most... she returned!!
But seriously, you're helping me survive through finals right now.
Treat yourself to a two hour movie by Mila 💕
SAME!! Good luck!
Same!!!
I'm 30,so all of your content takes me back to "the good old days" lol
2.That first album was STACKED,OK?! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
3.Again,so glad you're back, you're one of my favorites and I'm really glad that you make these videos because they're so well done and it's something that I didn't know I was missing! You're just great 🥰💚
Same! I’m loving all this content about the good old days, there’s stuff I didn’t realize was going on at the time…ahhh to be 16-18 again
I’m in my early 30’s too and feel the same way. It’s fun to see people younger than me interested in the stuff that was popular when I was a teenager…nostalgia really is the most powerful emotion lol
@loveutill theendoftimes the days that were good are now old.
I mean… 2001 was 20 years ago. I feel like two decades passing is enough time for people to think this and feel nostalgic! :)
Same this is everything to me! Mika did amazing!!
that is EXACTLY why i prefer the original overprotected, too! i don't remember a whole lot about my childhood (thanks, trauma!) but the 'britney' to 'in the zone' era is still incredibly vivid for me. it brought me from a little 9 year old, all the way to a slightly older but still little 11 year old on the cusp of getting her first period, very much facing down the barrel of puberty.
i saw crossroads in theater three times, memorized the overprotected choreo with my two best friends, and obsessed over britney's numerous pairs of bedazzled low rise bell-bottom jeans wishing i had the hip dips to pull them off. oh, how trends change! now we have women hating themselves for their hip dips, while full round hips are now the thing. just goes to show how much it's bullshit! don't ever hate your body for not fitting the "trend", it's not worth it.
i remember when i listened to 'breathe on me' for the first time!! it completely rocked my 11 year old brain. i remember thinking it was the sexiest thing ever, and to this day my opinion still hasn't changed. talk about being ahead of its time! i'm still waiting for the day it gets justice in the form of a really sickening drag performance, cus goddamn if the gays don't love breathe on me, who will?
i love this ty
IF YOU SEEK AMY FUCKIN SLAPPPPSSSSS
FUN FACT: When Britney was in Mexico and she gave "the finger" .I. to the reporters, that became madly iconic. She was so criticized for it, that even nowadays people still calling that: la Britneyseñal (the Britney sign). I know this because I'm Mexican and I remember the smear campaign against her. I believe it was one of the worst tours for her. She cried behind the stage of a very popular show (Otro Rollo) and the host consoled her and teaches her to dance some Mexican music on the show, that helped her a lot with the people sympathy. th-cam.com/video/veaunOrkcTM/w-d-xo.html from min 4:45
Great Video BTW. Keep it up !!
Ajajajjaja i asked my mom and she started laughing and nodding, aaking me que si a poco no sabia
@@victoriadealba5558 ajajaja apoco no sabias!? 😂 checa “otro rollo britney spears” she’s adorable.
i've never really in-depth listened to britney's music (but of course i know her hits), and i kept up with #freebritney but all in all was never, like, a real fan. clicked on the video anyway bc your content is amazing but watching through it made me really want to know more about britney and her career. you're actually SO good at this bc you presenting this information made me care about it. this video was absolutely AMAZING, SO informative and as always i love the way you present everything and your personality on video. the amount of research for this video--and all your videos tbh--is astounding and so impressive, THANK YOU for making videos.
literally exact same situation with me lmao. i checked out Deep Dive as mila suggested and watched all of their britney docs and have been listening to more britney music since watching this lol
I am sorry you got bad new about your family! I wish you the very best I hope it gets better soon 💛
@@doralilikovacs2898 that is so sweet. Thank you! 💜
Thank you for mentioning the young ones at the Onyx Hotel Tour. I was 13 with my 14 year old sister and my parents. It’s was definitely uncomfortable seeing a couple of those performances with them. 😂
But it was still a fantastic show.
And we owe them greatly for this
I was literally 3 in 2008, don’t group me in w y’all haters
as a kid i had a thing for liking the hated celebrities, I was 11 and on yahoo! OMG a lot in 2008 and i thought the articles were so ridiculous and clearly turning woman against each other. I've been a Miley, Britney, Lindsay, Paris, Ashlee simpson fan for ages lol. I never cared of the public opinion of em.
I was only 9, so no. Don't group us gen z with hating ass millennials. I always thought britney was iconic no matter what
@@melodyspalace no but srs, i hate how with the free Britney movement came a lot of old ass millennials talking about "we all said nasty things- we all laughed & now i feel bad 😞" um- no? I was a child. most of y'all were grown teens or even working adults writing nasty think pieces and tabloid reports about her.
@@melodyspalace then it’s not targeted towards you. me too i was also a baby, but they’re talking about the teenagers/adults of that time.
Thank you from the bottom of my critical, cynical, bitchy heart.
we've missed you so much. congrats on almost 300k, i hope you're doing well.
Her getting emotional at the end as she speaks about Britney being finally free while I'm crying, is a moment.
YESS!! i really love alll of them but LOVE in the zone , really recommend!!!!
Her albums are really great (except britney jean). You should definitely get into them!
britney and in the zone definitely have her best deep cuts
In the Zone imo is her best album, besides Blackout.
U should definitely check out in the zone, and just stay away from britney jean..lol
Painstakingly spending hours writing every word down because that was the only way to have them at the time
Awe your parents were cool
as a full time student aswell, girllll i’d be glad to even get a five minute video every five months 😂 you’re thriving and we’re spoiled 💅
Her performances and genre fluidity are already crazy good.
i feel like lisa from bp aswell but she hasn't rlly unlocked her full potential in terms of performing due to her management
@@silvergust It's kpop, *everyone* goes hard with choreography.
you are comparing these to BRTNEY???
@@lala-pl7mn ik thats not what u mean but pls dont call poc women ' these ' 😀
@@fairybebbiesuwu366 honey there are multiple people mentioned like kpop and lisa under this comment so obviously i used the term 'these' :)
loveeee youuuu sisss!
i love this!! you only talk about the positive about her career, you did cover part of her struggles but you really made it seen like it wasn’t any of our business whiich is kinda true. she may have gone thru mental shit that we shouldn’t be judging her for. but you really had some sort of respect for the negative. & i agree. if anyone wants a DEEP DIVE on what happened behind the scenes they should tune in to Deep Dive.
I think we all need a series like this for Rihanna
LOVE how you focus on her legacy as opposed to all the goss. Such a thoughtful, tasteful & detailed vid xx
this was sooo good! ppl somehow tend to forget her legacy and insane impact on music and pop culture today.
Alot of her songs were bomb but that ‘fuck you pay me’ Britney is everythinggg period 😂❤️
Can you do Ciara or Keri Hilson or RiRi? I’d love to see thats
When I was a teen I remembered reading lots of magazines and one of them featured this super tiny article about Britney having to enter the conservatorship. It actually was sympathetic towards Britney and highlighting the fact, that there were many issues concerning her father. I also remember thinking how unfair and awful it was. Still boggles my mind
it's so refreshing seeing content about britney's great and iconic moments without only focusing on the sad parts of her story. i loved this so so much!!!!! can't wait for the next vid
I never thought I’d sit through a 2 hour TH-cam video. I watched every second. Great work on this!🔥👏🏽
i can’t believe i watched the full two hours. this was so fun and i learned so much. thank youuuuuuu
the icon herself is back! liking and commenting before I even start the rest of it because I've only seen the intro so far, but I just know this is about to be an amazing video. i can tell you put ur heart and soul into it, I mean it's literally 2 hours long, and I know it was worth the wait. we appreciate ur hard work and dedication so much even if u have to be away for a long time!
Who the fuck is out there saying Britney can't dance?? The audacity.
Stg agreed! Brittney has always been an amazing performer! She legit dances while carrying a tune. MANY artist can't sing while dancing. She always nailed it
people with no background of dancing or just haters
Britney dances better than her dancers. Only people who are jealous say bad things about Britney.
After her knee injury she lost that super impressive dance style a bit, but no she is a real dancer for sure!
That song ruled my childhood for years, and I guarantee i can still bust out all of the lyrics.
why isn't the remix on any music platforms. A CRIME
So glad Britney is Free!!
so naturally documented feels like a conversation love this
