I am finally getting to the DInobots for my collection. I got this guy last week. I absolutely love it. It is big, it shines, it has presence near the top of all MP TFs. No offense to FTs but they can beat it when it comes to this particular competition. This GP figure is art.
Gigasaur's Graviter just POPS! across the board in a side by side comparison to Faaaaanstooooys, which just looks dull..... almost lifeless as in dead. I ended up getting the Gigasaur Collection b/c I could still find them, glad I did, as the more I see/watch comparisons, the FansToys, although a Great Product, pales in comparison on the finish.
Awesome review as always Mr. Skullface. I’m happy that this one didn’t give you the issues that you had with their Slag. I know many fans go “nuts” when the Gigapower Dinobots go up against the FansToys Dinobots. War always seems to be on the horizon when a review comes down the pipe, but stand your ground!! There’s a reason why us collectors look to you, to give us the “truth”. Loved the Rocky preparation, and can’t wait to see your next review. Keep up the great work!
Coming into the 3rd Party and MP game so late, I am so conflicted on the Dinobots. Fanstoys has a beautiful more toon accurate look, and a tad better articulation it seems, but, Gigapower in bot mode, wow. If all my MPs were clean toon accurate it would be a no-brainer, but, as we know, Takara has shifted their stylings, so either would really work in my small but growing collection. Dammit. Hilarious training montage, and solid review, Bobby!
Oooh... I'm nervous... Their Swoop is up next and that is usually where 3P Dinobots - all of them, in my opinion - tend to fail. I went Fansproject for my dinos. I'm more of a CHUG guy but I do collect MP. Fansproject's dinos are all deeply flawed but, in spite of that, for CHUG scale, I think I made the right choice. If Giga get Swoop right, I may have been proved wrong - I've always found their chrome gigasaurs massively desirable but thought that MP scaled dinos were too much of a financial investment for my liking. However, they seem cheaper, bigger and more lavishly finished than the FT set and feature the translucent over chrome that I like and the toy style rocket launchers (except this one - I find the dual guns a strange choice...) so, from a value perspective, they might've been worth the extra cash injection. Over all. I may end up regretting not being in on them... Well done Giga and well done you - as someone who's had issues with this line before and is very much in on the FT one, you really seemed to appreciate the strengths of this release.
The gold clips thing is disappointing but I find with both FT and the Bullsfire one that the dino legs seem bordering on vestigial. G1 accurate, I suppose... Obviously my Fansproject Volar has the opposite problem... :-)

Love the design and if I can swing it I'll grab the x version to match the chrome finish of these guys. And I'm swoop should be a little smaller than the rest anyway. I get it but I'm beginning to find, dinobot-wise, I'm a bit more of a toy guy so I'd like them all the same size class. It does irk me a little that my Columpio is smaller than my Cubrar, though... :-)
Wow! That bot mode looks fantastic. The paint is off the chain! The Dinobots are way down the line for me and I still have no idea which way to go but this guy was my first G-1 Dinobot and when I get to the masterpiece collection.. I think this guy is what I want. Very very impressive.

Man, I feel like this one is definatly in the ball park with this one, but head sculpt is a big deal. However, I do wish that Fans Toys would have used the more vibrant red on theirs like Giga did with this one. The colors seem to snap well, but I'm too deep in the Fans Toys at this point to turn the ship around. I've got two of each for robot and alternate display modes. If I was just getting into the dinos, I might consider, but Fans Toys still rules this one in the end. Great video and breakdown.

And you weren't kidding about clearance; of all the huge pegs, why did they have to put the two tiny clips , one of which I broke off, on the bottom of the rear torso? This is so far my favorite 3P release for this year. I love it! Great review. Very honest and fair. You'd have limited knee articulation too if you were a Bronto having to haul your giant a$$ around. J/K. :P I know you have a sense of humor. I also have Giga Snarl, and it is really good, too. Not at all like the disaster sample you got.

theyre comperable, for me i prefer the fanstoys because i think its a bit more faithful to the cartoon while having more sculpted detail than the cartoon designs
Best review! 'Cause 100% match what I feel about this one, LOL...every single points you made. In hand, although the plastic is good, on par with Cesium. It doesn't feel as solid as other FT Dinos. ( they are both at lower price though) p.s. Premium Collectables still holding my FT Sludge. Another reason I got this one just in case I never get my orders.
Re not liking the choices for the robot head: With their previous Dinobot releases, you can unscrew the head and swap whichever crest, eyes, and facial expression that you want. Does Graviter not have the same setup?
1st was their Slug/Slag 2nd, is their Sludge They seem to be pumping out these Dinobots veeeeeeeeeery sloooooooowly, with that said, I hope we see their Grimlock, Swoop, & Snarl soon-ish. All in all, I think their Sludge is alright, for what it is.
Actually, Gigapower has released 3 Dinobots. Snarl was their first, followed up by Slag, and now Sludge. This company does take their time with their releases, but that’s fine for me. Considering the price point, I’m happy to have the extra time to get my funds ready for when they do releases.

Thanks for the review. Personally I feel Fans Toys Stomp is the best figure I've ever handled. That said I was considering Giga Sludge just because I do feel Sludge should be bigger, but with the Dinobot price point it was going to have to be a grand slam and it clearly isn't that level.

I have this figure and the paint issue is pretty noticeable up close and at an angle to light. Not a bad figure overall but at 200 a pop you’d expect a better paint job. It is better than the other two gigs bots but i think FT is better overall in terms of quality and scale.
The eye colour was a cock-up on the factory's part. The blue eyes were supposed to be on the calm face and the red on the angry face. The review samples sent out had the correct colouration.
I got out after my copy of their slag was a big let down, and happily I'm also done for dinobots. 1 detolf houses the normal FT ones in bot mode, and the shiny X versions in dino mode.
Love this figure, but the instructions are stupid bad. I don't watch your transformations, unless I actually get the figure and need help. I needed a LOT of help on this guy. Thanks for your great step-by step.

A nice finish on a roided up generic looking bot that in no way fits with the MP line. Stomp captures the character and design cues of Sludge so much better.
