Mary’s voice and Pete’s playing is a match made in heaven.
I’m a 63 y/o American still listening to Pink Floyd & Alan Parsons Project as my favs but I adore your music. And of course many great pieces of music since growing up in the 70s & 80s. I played guitar until a stroke 8 years ago resulting in the loss of my right hand. But thankfully my hearing is just fine.

Well, it's 4/10/22 and I just discovered Mary Spender. I'm in love. Totally entertaining whether she's playing solo, in duet with others, interviewing artists, or just talking, I'm mesmerized. Excuse me now while I search for more of her stuff.

This video is my 2 & a half year old son's first favourite *real* song ever... we watches this regularly and he's now singing with it and bringing his toy guitar to watch the video. Thank goodness it's a great performance one doesn't get tired of watching.

Sweet song, sweet voice and lovely rendition. Chilling how Stevie Nicks expressed her bitterness at Lindsay Buckingham with that line "players only love you when you're playing"'. And here, decades later, her bitterness lives on. The power of music!

Lovely performance. I met Danish Pete three years ago at the iHop near the Anaheim Convention Center. He was leaving breakfast with the Captain. I shook his hand and asked him if he got his name because of his love for pastries, and he laughed pretty hard. It might have been a courtesy laugh, but my steps were a little lighter walking around NAMM that day.
Every now and then I come back and watch this again. Something about Pete brings out the best in other musicians he plays with. Same with Rabea
Was an excellent cover. Mary's vocals were on point, she held the rhythm on her guitar perfectly and Pete's guitarwork was immaculate as always. One of the best covers I've heard.

Sometimes a good cover reminds you of how good a song really is.
Mary's voice is beautiful! I also love that they are playing guitars on the less expensive ends from the 2 brands. It shows that they are still high enough quality to sound great.
With acoustics, there are so may variances between each guitar that price only has so much influence on sound quality. I've heard plenty of sub-$500 guitars that sound and feel way better than acoustics $1000 and up. I find the price increase becomes about aesthetics after a while.
Nolan G Craftsmanship perfection as well. Thats the only reason super expensive guitars ( the only one that comes to mind is greefield) cost 10k more
if you think price has ANY effect on modern guitars you dont understand guitars. A $300 modern guitar is better than a top end guitar from 40 years ago (cultists heads are exploding now). Thats triply true of electrics.
Mary is an awesome addition to Anderton's performers. She's special. I don't know if she will break through and get signed but she SHOULD.
All those jerks she mentioned telling her to put the guitar down, they shall regret it one day. If they actually dont do it right now, anyways... :)

Hearing this excellent but different version of Dreams, makes you appreciate just how well-written the original was. It’s a strong foundation on which others can build something beautiful !
This is a great point. I didn't like Fleetwood Mac much growing up. Not heavy enough. I decided to listen to Rumours about a year ago and was blown away. Of course I'd heard all the songs, most many times, but didn't really listen. The songs are all really well written.
I, personally, like this even more than the original. Great job Mary and Pete!
I didn't think it was possible to sing this song better than Stevie but to me Mary does. The tone, intonation and interpretation are all exceptional.
I stopped listening to most new artists in the early 2000's because I think many songwriters from then on suffer "identity crisis" & just don't have a memorable message to convey. Nothing like the days of Fleetwood mac, Courtney Love's "Hole", or Chris Cornell's many works. But along comes Mary Spender. At first I passed her off as a pretty faced pod-caster with good chops on guitar who'd be doomed to obscurity amongst the glut of other self-employed musicians trying to get a foot hold. I couldn't have been more wrong. Very talented young woman that wouldn't dream of lowering herself to using auto-tune or burying a lyric in effects. You're a breath of fresh air young lady & I hope to see more of you in the coming months.

Cant believe it took me 2 years to find Mary Spender great voice, great guitar player, and a laid back nice person. She is the kind of person that I would support she has a voice of her own on electric guitar more to me than on Acoustic.

@@JurasPriest her playing is very soothing and easy on the ears. The more I watch her play it is her picking hand that is more complicated than what is going on with her freeing hand. I might be wrong but I see her using some triads a lot and it doesn't look that hard. When I tried to play one of her riffs It did not sound even close. Her technique is just spot on in my opinion.
Performers who can be this expressive amaze me. They both have such control over their tone and dynamics. Just complete mastery.

It's been more than 3 years and I still find it amazing how much stuff there is to learn from both of their performances. Pete's playing is beyond flawless and tasteful, and Mary's playing is like the most beautiful heartbeat.

Stevie definitely has her distinctive sound and memorable sound. However Mary has that silky voice that helps you fall into a trance, so relaxing! Almost therapeutic!

Lee is a genius. The addition of Mary Spender is absolutely the best thing Anderton's has done in recent memory,, following along in the wake of other brilliant additions such as Bea, Pete and even the new set. I don't mean to go the "female" route, but her addition to the team truly helps to balance out the testosterone-heavy guitar landscape. But that really is a footnote in comparison to her voice and talent as a performer.
And everyone who follows Anderton's is right on the money. The team at Anderton's is now sufficiently varied that an Anderton's record is now an absolute MUST and would be an instant hit. I guarantee it. Imagine this lineup, just on guitar:
Chappers, Lee, Bea, Pete, Mick, Dan, Mary, and if schedules permit, gotta get Paul involved. Just imagine all the sonic and genre music possibilities there...And while I am a guitar geek, I know Anderton's has quality in-house drummers, bass players and even keys.
If that lineup doesn't blow your mind, you need a new mind. :D
