    "Necessity is the mother of all invention" !
    No wiser words were ever spoken.
    I've used the crotch in a tree to bend conduit before so I resonate with the hitch bending method LOL

    Awesome job so far building that tank! Also amazing you will be on with Freddy and Juan!!!
    I also really appreciate you putting in those subtitles, thank you.

    I might suggest using a gin pole to put the top on the tank, just like you put an antenna tower section on another or a beam antenna on a tower. With the truck you might consider using 2 gin poles, and putting lifting points on either side of the top section and raising the top section using the truck for equal lifting on both sides. Good luck on the project.

      @@mineoperator I've seen your invention you use to lift the bags of ore up to the top of your processing machine, could you not use the same principle for your lift for the tank? After all, that is where you're going to use that tank. A fork lift might work too. Build most of your tank in your backyard and finish it at the processing building.

    That was fun to watch and see you use what you have to make the job easier.
    When I was in High School (an Industrial High School) in the mid 1970's I picked a credit hour class called "Wrought Iron Decor" Every student was taught to use Oxy-Acetylene to cut and weld. Cutting torches small and large, what p.s.i. to use on the gauges. My teacher was surprised when I asked if I could use the steel hangers our parents would get when they had their clothes dry cleaned. There was a coating on the hangers to prevent the steel from putting stains such as rust on the clothes. The coating was like a shellac but for the most part was a really good flux. Stank when burnt but did an excellent job of creating that bead. I built a beverage holder for my truck as I kept breaking the newly invented plastic crap. My teacher was impressed with my idea. My first attempt at cutting a piece of flat steel to make a circle didn't work then the teacher had to explain some mathematics to acquire my results. Teacher also commented on the ideas I would create on copy paper with measurements. He asked where I came up with my ideas. I said my dad was Nuclear Ballistic Engineer.

    • @mineoperator
      @mineoperator  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      John, I really appreciate these experiences. I haven't learned how to weld with oxy-acetylene yet. I've learned 3 methods so far and have been swamped with projects. I can't wait to learn that. Harry just learned that method in a class he took. That's really creative with the hangers. After you watch part 2, which will be released in the next week or two, you'll probably have a much easier way to make the extended conical section of the tank that I made. Fun learning from others. What's crazy is as soon as this project is done, there are 5 more fabricating projects lined up. Then somehow mine, mill, smelt, fabricate, reclaim, sample and repeat. Not hard at all lol. Oh ya, and still manage my day job!

      Thanks for sharing this link/product. I've gotta try this out. Might be able to incorporate it or use it for a mobile operation in remote locations. This silt bag could really help us.

    • @Jatslo
      @Jatslo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mineoperator We procure large silt bags, then cut them up to fit the various systems we employ. Alternatively, you can buy rolls. The fabric can be reused, or repurposed as retaining walls with perhaps plants, because they are biodegradable. The bags, once full, can be hung allowing the water to drip out, if you need every drop...etc. You could mix cement allowing the filled bags to harden into stones for a more permanent retaining (just imagine stacking the bags).
      You'll figure it out, Cheers! 😎

      @Jatslo This was extremely helpful. Thank you.

    • @Jatslo
      @Jatslo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mineoperator The silt bags are breathable, allowing you to use a high-powered vacuum to fill them. Once filled, you can easily lift the bags out of the area. If the fabric becomes clogged, you can clean it with a pressure washer. Some fabrics are resistant to both alkaline and acidic chemicals, which can be useful if you’re using such substances.
      A closed system is best when fighting evaporation or mitigating dust; in any case a silt bag is highly versatile. Yes, your water tank is interesting for sure; that piqued my interest. TY

    A word of advice, don't grind metals next to your car, the hot sparks burn into the paint layer, first time out in the rain and you end up with tiny rust spots all over your paint job on the car.

    • @mineoperator
      @mineoperator  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @VikingExploration60 You should see my cell phone, gopro camera, clothes I wear while fabricating. I know what you mean. I try to move the vehicles around or setup a welding blanket over something that I want to protect. Challenges of not having a shop at home to fabricate.

My wife takes our dog for a walk around our property every morning and brings back things she has found. 35 years I have lived here and in her "finds" I say to her "I lost that when I was building this, or that. Well, it's to rusty to use now.
