Excellent craftsmanship and engineering on the build there Chad. Looked like quite the frightening wrestling match trying to get it in place though. Glad you got it done safely.
We are all excited to see this baby work. I'm anticipating some fine tuning but we should get it dialed in onsite while running ore. We have a lot of milling to do! Thanks for your comment!
Fantastic project, good job! I saw the video with Henry and Jason I am not so sure you are worst off weather wise, it looked properly rotten over there.
I was an apprentice at a sewage treatment plant and they use loads of de-silting tanks. They used worm pumps (with rubber housing) and controlled the removing of silt with adjustable time relays. Pretty sure the level of silt will influence de silting proces.
Oh by gosh. You are getting along with this. I was thinking since that little video you posted. It might be a bit late now given the rubber coating is on. Some of the tanks I’ve worked on for one thing or another have a “default” agitator, albeit it pneumatic or water jet to ensure that it empties. Yes settling tank, but it fear for you that once that tank fills up, it’s gonna be hell to empty if it sits. Something to consider before moving it out to site.😉 Still doing better than me.
Rod, I appreciate your comment. We installed a water jet on the 4" piping at the unerflow side of the tank pointing straight up. This is going to be the big learning curve I'm afraid of. That is, if we wait to long to discharge silt/tailings, how difficult will it be to empty the tank? We're hoping the water jet will do the trick. We'll have to find the sweet spot which will take some testing. Great idea. Thanks for reaching out and saying something.
People often don't realize how much work is required to rig, build and modify equipment when you can't just go the the store and pay the big money for machinery that is ready to go.
I fill for you. I have put my projects on hold for the past month because of the Heat. You probably have already considered beafing up the Legs on that grainer. In the oil and gas industry we used a closed loop system on Drill Rig's pit system. We have adopted to the additional system called dewatering. The tank like you are building we had 2" hoses shooting fluid in at a 45 deg. Angle to cause a cyclone effect to sheer out the polymer, dropping out the cutting and giving clean water back to the active pit system. The weight in the tank is going to be much higher than you can imagine. Figure out tank volume in gallons. Then weigh fluid being processed. distilled water You know is 8.3333, but ditch/ river water is 8.5 to 8.6 pounds per gallon. Sorry for being so long-winded. Hopefully, this helps you
Your comment does help. I appreciate you taking the time to share it with me. That 45° degree angle is an interesting idea. Similar to a hydrocyclone, introduce the slurry near the wall of the column at a 45° angle. Use the velocity from the pumped slurry to work for you. As it descends down the column in a circular pattern it will cut certain particles out sooner. Yes, I'll be installing more legs with cross supports. Getting closer! Thank you for your comment.
Innovation & elbow grease keeps ya mining, great fabrication job...just caught Harry & Jason doing their thing and tuned into MO for my Saturday mining adventures ...this is what old-timers do for fun when your body quits Lol! Where's that sky hook when ya need it? Lol! Keep it happening y'all...⚒️⛏️💪👍🤙🤠
I do my best tinkering at midnight..bet my neighbors would hate me doing this project. Here in Vegas this summer set all heat records. Sounds like you must be close.
Knowing the weather is crucial working in your neck of the woods. Flash floods have wiped out a many. Thanks for your view. Oh by the way if you catch any of dat rain 🌧 send it to Vegas
Chad, with those skills and that ingenious mind of yours, don't be surprised if people flock to you when disaster strikes in SoCal 😁 You're the kind of guy who can turn a desert island into a paradise 😄 Next project: A Jungle Jim for cats 😁 The heatwave is brutal 🔥 118F at work in the SFV, and 126F while passing a town along the freeway at noon today. Insane! Not sure if trading places with Jason and Harry is such a great idea - have you seen the part where they turned into icicles? 😆
You're right! If I was up there turning into a popsicle, I'd probably say I would rather be in an oven lol 😆. That's why I try to make the best out of whatever weather I'm in. I love the idea about a jungle jim for cats 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️. They definitely make me smile and take my mind off of things. Well, I'm shut down today due to rain from a thunderstorm. Tomorrow looks bright 🌞 😉.
Isn't nice all the things we want to learn and then put the talents to work? You had some resistance from those strong winds. The time lapse showed your neighbors tree do some bending. Just think if you had a winch on the front of your truck how much easier it could have been and still using your climbing equipment to hoist the centerpiece where it needed to go. Your MacGyver approach was interesting to watch. My other notifications had to wait. I got to watch Mine Operator 1st. I noticed at 10:30 all vehicles that run were out of the way. Safety first always is my thinking. 24:27 I saw Jason's and Harry's adventure up there in Alaska. The mine owner's son said to Jason that it never snows the first week of August. Jason said it was 75 in Washington, then you're saying it's 110 where you and Harry live. Harry did a great Job as cameraman and that mine up there was super rich. The look on Jason's face, and all of the old still working equipment was interesting to see. Then seeing the baggie with about 7 smelted gold pieces weighing close to a pound. The mine owner's son said he had been watching Jason's channel to learn how to melt the gold and the kid did very well. Neither Jason or Harry was expecting snow and a wind chill factor, then the next day to come home was sunny and nice.
When going into a project, I am always curious to see what curve ball will come my way. I'm never disappointed because sometimes it's something I guessed, but sometimes surprised by something I didn't see coming. You made my evening when you said that our channel, Mine Operator, was up 1st and everything else had to wait. We really appreciate that! We're ramping up to get back out to the mines. Many adventures await!
Doing great! An FYI if you need a crane or heavy hauler and even some equipment. I know a company that does all that. And if you get one of the Colorado boys. They know heavy haul in the mountains paved and unpaved no difference. Let me know if you'd like the name. They drive all over the USA.
@@mineoperator any time man, I’d love to be of assistance if possible and have a welder as well. This is stuff I want to start getting into. 🫡 can’t wait for the next video.
Time to hang it up and quit spending so much money hard rock mining. We have a commercial placer mine available for purchase. Maybe you guys should should consider the much cheaper mining alternative .
Thanks!

Glad you finally got some help, tuxedo cats are characters, always curious.
Good to see the progress on your upgrades. Can't wait to see it in action.

So true. I couldn't imagine what this tank would cost to buy new.
When you use a roller, work out of a 5 gal bucket with a screen. You don't have to put much in but it makes work way easier.
I like it. Great idea. Thanks Hans!
