    Chapter 2 of #AudiGoesElectric is here! We also forgot to mention that the regular e-Tron's range has now been improved to 222 miles so its a bit better than the e-Tron Sportback. We'd like to see Audi get closer to that 300 mile mark but for those of you who want to go all-electric and don't want a Tesla, the e-Tron Sportback is one of the most stylish and luxurious options out there and its a lot cheaper this year as well. The $7,500 tax credit is also still available to those who qualify.

      Of course there is. I’ve had a Model S for 3 yrs and got this edition one 2 weeks ago. Luxury; Audi wins hands down. Tech and range; Tesla wins hands down. The tech kinda sucks in the Audi, something as basic as the app is completely useless. Go to any Etron site and you’ll see most complaining about the app, charging network and the tech. I hope that it improves with time; I’m leasing so will reassess at the end of it.

    Nice choice if you have to have an Audi. VW group isn’t going to make it a true Tesla competitor (0-60, 1/4 mile) tho. I believe they’re going to leave that to Porsche. They should try to make the e-tron more focused on range. 300 miles would make it more competitive

    Thanks for the review. It assisted in our decision. I purchased a 2020 e-tron Sportback Premium Plus last week with 2000 miles on it, which saved about 25% off the sticker plus no sales tax. Saving the sales tax allowed us to extend the warranty and also get 5 years of all scheduled maintenance for free. 1,000 free EA charging hours was included too. The purchase was for my wife, who works in town. She's been charging to 80% and still does not need to top off to 80% everyday. Had my E-Tron "Edition One" for 1.5 years.
    e-Tron fit and finish (inside & out) is far superior to a Tesla however, Tesla has far superior range than the e-Tron. That's a consideration when you wanna go on a road trip.
    If I could put the Tesla range inside the e-Tron, it'd be perfect!

    • @petegalindez9961
      @petegalindez9961 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree! I came from a 2017 Audi Q7 and was hoping the e-tron was going to be better in the range department. I travel on a 400 mile round trip just about every weekend so range was key for me. Otherwise, I loved it, with the exception of the infotainment system. I liked the mix of buttons and screens with my 2017 Q7. Went too far on the touch screens for me with the e-tron and the modern Audis. Now I have a TESLA 3 and Y. Wish Audi would get the range thing figured out. 90k for 215 miles is pathetic (if that’s even close to real world) and then there’s the charging on the road thing with non-TESLAs that is the Wild West...kind of a bummer. Til then, I’ll stick with my TESLA....but this car is HOT!!! Blows away the Mercedes and BMW! I will say, having the wireless Apple CarPlay is awesome! I’m jealous! FWIW, for about $100, I was able to install massage seats in my TESLA. Was an easy install. It’s not as good as the massager in the Audi, but good. Really on the acceleration? A Ferrari Testarossa and Lamborghini Countach were doing 0-60 is just about 5 seconds in 1980s!!

    The reason the regen keeps resetting when you hit the accelerator is because you have the efficiency setting in the infotainment to Automatic where the car uses the front camera to assess and decide, and it'll reset and take over when you hit the throttle. Oh my God, like the other day I saw a TH-cam dude with his Tesla model Y and @ 1st I thought the doors were left slightly opened, but it turns out those were gaps. And I'm like wait! Are Tesla buyer or owners been giving a blue matrix pill? Cause these gaps don't lie. Like seriously, I fear seeing a Tesla driver with an umbrella opened inside the car for when it rains. Ok, so I know, I know! I'll probably be demolished by an avalanche of bullying comments, just cause I expressed an opinion..... How silly of me, I keep forgetting about that freedom of speech that was like prohibited a long time ago. Anyway, that is indeed sexy Audi. 😍

    220 miles of range and 5.5 seconds of 0-60. Audi clearly doesn't want people to buy this. They use this car to lure people in and probably want people to get like Q7 or something. I would get $50k model Y over this any minute.

    • @schmoestudy

      The plug in hybrid Q5 at 0-60 in 5 seconds and 30 mile range on EV mode plus still the benefit of gas seems far more compelling

    • @agentjrb
      @agentjrb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I test drove this and moved on to the Y it was boring and overpriced. The only thing it had I wish the Y did was air suspension. Tesla software is more intuitive and easier to use, I read there’s also charging issues with the etron.

    • @schmoestudy
      @schmoestudy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      2019 CPOs with less than 10k miles are selling at quite the discount.
      Yeah the air suspension come standard with all etrons which is nice.
      Hearing from Tesla and Audi owners, many prefer the more conventional Audi interior and great fit and finish as a daily driver which range isn’t too important. Too many complaints of panel gap, creaks/rattles and paint issues is a sign of young company which will be fixed in time.
      What is the boring part? The subpar acceleration? I agree it’s not impressive.
      I’m waiting on the recently announced all electric Q5/Macan built on shared platform that is likely to be close to 0-60 in 3 seconds

    I never understand why this Tesla Dragrace behavior is so importend. I drove Tesla, do it one or two times and think ok nothing for public roads for daily driving. And here in Germany Tesla Model 3 SR+ in BusinessLeasing is more expencive than this e-Tron 55 Sportback. That makes the decision easy and here we have a lot of high power charger so the Audi is quicker on long range with its short range than a Tesla because of his better charging.

    I’m a very happy owner of a 2017 Audi S6 , so when I wanted another car in an electric suv I naturally looked at the 2020 e tron. I bought a 2020 model Y dual motor performance with performance pkg instead, and am thoroughly impressed with the decision. There really is no match period! Tesla (my exact one) is much faster and quicker, longer range, much better apps and electronic upgrades and intuitiveness, absolutely zero build quality issue yet, I took delivery mid August, and a bit cheaper, and coming from a recent model S6 , I actual appreciate the minimalist approach with Tesla’s interior..a generous fronk and trunk and under trunk to boot and and is a bit cheaper than the electric Audi, the S6 sit idle now as the wife have another daily, I even get a kick from charging it weekly in the convenience of our home with a upgraded 220, if ur spending north of 60k for a all electric suv, my vote as a Audi owner is include model Y or X in ur search..cheers!

      @@Xemnas103 Yeah, agree. Just from experience we had an X 90D with 242 range at 100%, dropped to about 222 after couple years 100%. Then 90% gave us 200 usable miles without having to wait forever to top off (it gets very slow above 90%). In cold faster driving though we lost about 30% more so ended up with like 140+ miles real range. Was hard to make trips when not perfect weather and make the charging stations even. People don't realize those intricate real-life details versus the manufacturers stated 100% perfect range.

    Luxury is not speed. Tesla Model Y is not luxury car. Crazy acceleration is for sports cars. It really comes down to whether you want speed or luxury. You have to pay over $100K to get both. The range issue is largely an American issue. Most people still don't drive more than 80-100 miles a day.

    • @agentjrb
      @agentjrb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many luxury vehicles have a performance element to them as well. Audi typically lists 0-60 specs for their cars because they’re known for this too and their buyers care about this, trust me I’ve owned an S5 and a Panamera, it’s disappointing they’d neglect the performance part of this model.
      You may not consider the Y a luxury car, but many others do and the fun factor outweighs the 30K Audi luxury premium price tag.

    Tesla has certainly done a good job of convincing people that 0-60 times are more important than other more practical and useful features. Before Tesla, people were perfectly fine with their appliance-like ICE vehicles. In either case, you SHOULD drive a Tesla before the Audi. Then you can see how much better of a vehicle it is. ;)

    I think you're missing a point there with all that talk about 1 second faster 0-60 against Tesla. Most Audi buyers expect proper fit and finish with soft materials along with awesome drivetrain. And that's what Audi is all about. Even MIC model Y drives like a rocksled and has way poorer interior. If you want Audi insides with Tesla performance, Porsche has you covered.

    I like to see that you are using auto climate control... why do we need to use anything otherwise? Can't we let the tech mange our temp properly? If you feel like auto climate control doesn't work I'd love to see a video on that! Why can't people just set a temp and let it manage it like I do?? I see so many videos abou how important climate control "buttons" are but seems irrelevant when you have AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL. Do people just think auto climate control is horrible or are they just intolerant of a delay? If you want 70, 69, 74 just set it and the system will work to get you that temp. It doesn't need to be set to Lo or Hi until you are satisfied IMO.

    I think Audi is compensating with cheaper lease deals than on their gas models. And the percentage of first owners of luxury branded cars is that they are heavily leased. Second owners are the ones that purchase after that initial depreciation has been absorbed. Also, I have quite a few friends with Teslas (you know the gays, gotta be first). They have been so turned off by Tesla's build quality, manufacturer & dealer experience and lack of luxury feel, that they are now trading some of the speed and range for EVs made by luxury brands such as Audi and Jag or are waiting on the MB and BMW EVs that are coming.

    Very disappointed with the acceleration of the e-tron 55 & 50. It's slow for an ICE and even worse considering it's an EV. Even the e-tron S (yet more expensive) is not that fast for an EV for the price. This and the range have put me off despite the lovely interior and good build quality. Audi need to up their game.

    My own personal opinion is that this type of car is suitable for a family that already has one or two luxury ICE/Hybrid family haulers already so any long range commutes/trips are covered. This is for the daily mundane trips within a 20 mile range that many parents have to deal with and that family doesn’t want to look like everyone else in their neighborhood with a Tesla. Ironically even though they are probably buying this car with capital gains from selling their Tesla shares.
