  • S800 Sky Shadow inav Auto Launch flight // Best in FullHD (1080p) Pairan does the auto launch thing with iNav and Simon is ready to maiden his new Sky Shadow.
    Afterwork FPV
    ============
    There's nothing more relaxing than a little fly-out in the field after having been at work the whole day. So the boys are out for some air time and attend with their Sky Shadows - good choice :)
    Autolaunching with iNav
    ====================
    We have been nervous about this feature but here we are and it simply works! You should have your wing/plane flying safe before you try this so don't start off with that feature on a new bird! This could end as a bugger! :)
    Pairan modified his launch procedure to climb for 10sec at 20° angle. Additionally he figured that its necessary to swing the plane so it detects the wing has be tossed! Watch his throw in the video ...
    You'll find the description on NAV LAUNCH (AutoLaunch) here:

    Awesome autolaunch style ! Love it ! Could I ask what 3d printed support camera (xiaomi?) you use - the white one - on reptile ?
    I try 2 modele - a splitable for fpv cam & xiaomi AND a big one, seem like yours that is heavier : 30g !

      Yet I need to hand the question over to simon (eyeofra). I assume it to be the heavier one. But I'm not sure 🤔

    Killer video.. Little scared of Inav... Was thinking vector... Price is scary though. Been flying quads. But wanting to make the jump to fixed wing. Im not bad at soldering and dont mind tinkering with software. Ru on RCGroups? Recommend a flight controller that's an easy starter inav board...?

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no special board that is easier than others- it’s just about reliability- ;)
      I’m very happy with Matek F405 std (link in the description) there is another one out there called ctr which might be easier as a starter as has all in one. I’ve been using the 405 std all the time after having had several omnibus clones which died very fast

    • @M-H433
      @M-H433 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes f405

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps a f411-Wing would be even better from today’s perspective

    • @M-H433
      @M-H433 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How so

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      simply because its smaller, has the needed BECs for the servos and is reduced in size- If I would have the option back then, I certainly would have chosen the F411-Wing for my setup ... it was an sale lately for about 30 bucks ... no wild soldering, simple plug n fly after installing iNav ...

    what is the order to enable auto launch? I found another video and maybe didn't understand do I need it armed to work or not? Can I put it on my arm switch so it sets autolaunch and arms? Thanks for the great videos and info.

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again, Shawn.
      The order to do a autolaunch is (unarmed):
      1) activate autolaunch mode
      2) ARM the wing (now it will beep twice repeatingly)
      3) set the desired flight mode (e.g. Horizon)
      4) set the throttle on the desired state for the moment after the launch mode
      5) throw the plane into the are on a lower angle than 45° AND with a SWING in your movement
      This is what I do here in the video

  • @usarmyfl1
    @usarmyfl1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool video thanks! What sensor is tripped when thrown to activate the auto launch?

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt Jones i think it's the acc sensors which lets iNav figure what's up

    • @usarmyfl1
      @usarmyfl1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah okay cool.

    Hello, can u explain, what autotune mode is for?

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sure ... it's a mode you can select and this will try to optimise your PIFF-Settings depending on the way your plane/wing behaves. You will have to fly, enable the AUTOTUNE and then simply fly: pull hard to the left, pull hard to the right, the same with up and down. For every of these inputs iNav analysis how the plane/wing behaves and does corrections on the PIFF setup. I enabled the Settings in the OSD so I could see whats going on.
      Important:
      BEFORE you land, you need to disable the AUTOTUNE! Otherwise the possible impact on the ground would spoil your PIFFs! FINAL STEP: save you settings via the OSD!
      The documentation on it is found here: github.com/iNavFlight/inav/blob/master/docs/Autotune%20-%20fixedwing.md
      Thats it. hope it helps you.
      Maybe I should make a video on that too ... *considering*

    Please help me, the first step I have enabled NAV Launch mode, the next step is to turn on the arm, set the throttle value to about 50% but the motor is rotating immediately while the plane is on the face. land . do you understand what i say

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hm, do you have a Buzzer installed? Does it beep twice continuesly?
      Are you sure to have enabled nav launch in the modes?
      Do you have any mixings in your remote? Nav launch deactivate when any sticks are moved while launching (could be a problem)?
      These are my first ideas - hope it helps

  • @n3ben
    @n3ben 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Question: I have been building this wing and I can't get the CG correct without adding TONS of weight to the front camera bay. Now the wing is balanced but weighs a ton? Any tips on how to get the CG correct or what your wing weighs so I have a comparison. I can't get this thing to fly and it seems as if it should be a dream flier. My only thought is to get a lighter motor to remove some tail weight.
    Thanks!

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Benjamin,
      I guess I need some more stats on your components. I have the CG 2mm behind where it was supposed to be. But it seems your plane is tail heavy?
      1) Now, how much g is your motor? mine is about 37g (plus prop holder about 42g) and uses the stand offs! If your motor is much more than this, reconsider your setup!
      2) how much does your lipo weight? And what is that (3s 4s )? Mine is about 197g and does a good job
      3) Do you use an action cam? If so, FINE! otherwise you'll need to plug some 50g-70g into the camera bay
      My AUW is about 666g !
      Hope this helps you to sort that out! otherwise join the group of the black wings (see description in the text). 900 Pilots are hanging out there exchanging information, solving their problems :)

    • @n3ben
      @n3ben 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. So I am running COBRA 2206-2100KV motor 36.5g. I am running the standoffs too like you. So not much different.
      Lipo is a Turnigy nanotech 2200mah 3s that weighs 187g.
      No action camera at the moment, but it will carry one eventually. I rolled up some quarters and put them in the bay for ballast. To get the CG at 120mm from the nose it weighed 920g!!!! (adding quarters to the camera bay). With Just the essentials and no ballast, the CG is at 152mm (just behind the wing spar on the motor side) and weighs 711g.

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmmm ... in the beginning (video 2 and 3) I did fly the same! But I always hat an action cam or 70g in the nose. Is the lipo in the front or to the back?

    • @n3ben
      @n3ben 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lipo is all the way forward. I did add two brass standoff into the foam at the motor mount so that I could remove everything easily and that added some weight, but not that much. Not sure how I can adjust things without making it weigh 920g. I do have a 10g lighter lumenier motor I can swap, but that isn't very much.

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmmm ... what else do you have in there?! I'm somehow missing 200g :D That must be big *haha*

      Matebox in Motion in this launch mode do you need GPS?

    • @JustFPV-net
      @JustFPV-net  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just took a look in the iNav Wiki but it aint mentioned there. In theory it could work without GPS. Pero ... as the mode is called "NAV LAUCH" it will assume it only to be available it you have a GPS configured. Do you fly without GPS?
      Personally I love having GPS attached as it helps and saves you in many situations. It's simply one of the features you NEED to be safe :)
