    Build of this nicely designed and rugged EPP FPV wing. FPV camera and transmitter, and flight control board are included and I'll test them in a future video.

    The only bits and bobs from the pnp I ended up using was the motor, esc, vtx, and the stabilizer. Some of the original kits came with a serial numbered sunnysky 2300kv motor, so mine is still doing well after many months of flying. The stabilizer works fine, it is just really sensitive, and TBH not needed. She is a fun little wing. Thanks for the video Andrew! -Jamie

    It would have been nice to have seen the model built and flown as per the instructions, and then the modifications done. Have no idea how this kit really works!

    Nice bit of video, Andrew! I appreciate videos like this. I ordered this wing from Hobbyking last week. Should be here today. I'm looking forward to having some fun with it, despite the cold winter temps quickly arriving. I got the kit version and chose my own electronics, most of which I already had in my parts bin. Take care buddy!!!

      Good move using your own gear. Most people ditched the supplied stuff

    Nice build instruction Andrew....Agreed about the motor mount, I dont know what it is about motor mounts, but the number of models I have had where I have had to modify it so you can remove a bad motor later are too many to mention. They seem to have a mental block when it comes to designing motor mounts, they always seem to do things the hard way somehow. Look forward to the flight video soon....Nice job.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I tend to view these models as a collection of raw materials, and the instruction manuals as something to have a laugh at.

    Cool! I've had the kit sitting there for a little while, decided to order in a few bits rather than use what I already had (less room than I thought) didn't want to cut on it just yet.. a Little Bee 30A ESC and Lemon 7CH RX with stabilizer should fit better than the RX and A3L stabilizer & regular 30A ESC I was going to try to squeeze in. Look forward to your flights, mods and "will it slope" tests :)

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, very useful tool. It's just a jig saw screwed to a board with a slot in it, and clamped to the workbench. I prefer the Sonic AR wing to the S800. Not as fast but much nicer to fly.

    Looking forward to seeing this maiden. I have seen a couple of reviews of this plane already but all using the stabilization, I'm intreged to see fly raw... especailly as the kit version seems a fair price for the quality of the foam..

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the kit version would be a good idea.

    • @maika9739
      @maika9739 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the question would be at this stage, as they are all around the 800mm wingspan... Which do you prefer?... A) The Retile S800, B) The Rainbow 800, C) The Wing Wing Z84 or D) the FT Mini Arrow...........

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. The Rainbow is a quiet light weight cruiser whereas the Reptile is brutal, fast and furious and can carry weight. The Z-84 is a light sleek speedster and the Mini Arrow is super responsive and great for combat. I like them all!

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you read the specs for this glue?
      "Glue expanded Styrofoam® also in combination with other materials, e.g. wood, paper, metal, ceramic, plaster, fabric and various plastics. Also for photos"

    • @randomguy5221
      @randomguy5221 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      still no carbon rods, but still I have tested it with foam + other materials and it is not a strong bond... flexible CA is stronger with connection with others materials. Hot glue is also stronger for foam+foam but has other disadv

    So you haven't put the stabiliser in right? I ve bought a kit version from Bangood, not sure i'll get the stabilizer with it. Do you recommend to install the stabilizer or just a "simple" setup with esc, bec motor and receiver would be ok?

    I'm going to build one of these for the first time but my question is should I use a receiver with stabilization inside the receiver? Or should I set it up with an Omnibus flight controller with inav to get the gyro on there? I don't know which would be better for this thanks

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm probably not the right person to ask. Not a fan of stabilisation usually. But either would be OK, iNav would add GPS functions too, but you dont have to have GPS.

    • @MrKiemca
      @MrKiemca 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can use a receiver with stabilization inside for simple setup, and flying around near you. If you want to do long range fpv, then you need a flight controller + GPS (for Failsafe :D)

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @AndrewNewton

    Hi Andrew, How did you hit the 125mm C of G? I've just built mine with the same sort of setup, but it wants 130 grms of lead in camera bay with a Runcam Eagle and a GoPro! Seems outrageous to me.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine needed GoPro and FPV cam for correct CG. 130g lead extra seems wrong

      Good to hear from you mate, and so fast! Mine's a v2 with a direct-soldered Omnibus FCB. I'll try removing the motor extender and using an opto ESC and mount a BEC up front, but 130 grms + a Hero3 and an Eagle - crazy.

    do not glue carbon motor mount! Screw it to plywood!

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I did

    • @avelkm
      @avelkm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Newton No, you did made your own:). Right way is: glue in supplied plywood mount, screw motor to carbon mount, SCREW carbon mount with motor to plywood mount. It has enough mounting holes on sides. Don't know WHY every reviewer just repeat same thing about glueing carbon mount to plywood, what is the point of that at all? It's like first who get it made an error and everyone just repeats it instead of thinking:( every new kit is supplied without standoffs, as they make CG problem even worse. I have managed to balance my wing without any actioncam, but only because I put esc and receiver in battery bay and mounted vtx instead of gopro at the nose near fpv cam. No lead added.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes that makes sense. But the supplied ply was too fragile to screw into. I'll mount a Mobius rather than a GoPro eventually.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just looked at the instructions again and it definitely says to glue the CF motor mount to the ply. That's where the bad advice starts

  • @seasmurf1878

    Hi Andrew,
    This is not an review of the original kit.
    You made so much modifications that it is a complete different wing.
    Not an honest way to review a product.
    You asume that you won't need a gyroscope (=stabilizer).
