I never understood this. I never had any problems with the controls (though I suppose I can understand if you thought it was awkward, since it is a rather unique control scheme), and I NEVER considered that people found it *physically* uncomfortable
When I was a kid I was the same way. Couldn’t even fathom how people were physically ailed by the game. Now as an adult with fully grown hands, it’s unplayable…
Maybe it's because I'm usually laying on my bed at home playing it and not holding the system up while sitting in a chair or something, but I actually never understood how people found playing physically painful
that is EXACTLY how i held the 3DS while playing, and i just did not understand why people were complaining about the controls when i had no problem with it
I found this complaint hilarious as someone who is left handed, it was a requirement to go to settings to change the controls and soon found that you can play the game entirely without the stylus. So yeah, knowing is half the battle people.
The whole game slaps harder than anything else Sakurai has done outside of smash bros...it deserves a full hd remaster on the switch 2 day one launch game...would sell fantastically and push Nintendo to make a proer sequel tho without Sakurai
I found it uncomfortable at first but i've played the game so much in my life at an early age that i got used to it. Later on i got a 3ds xl and it is a little better there. Still i love this game and still play to this day. It is sad that the online servers will close in 2024, cause you can still find some people there every now and then.
@@thescaletblur07 LMAO i have no idea if they even sell them anymore but its called the circle pad pro for 3ds, you could probably find one on ebay or amazon
I found it easier to just use my right hand, than to learn how to move with the right analog stick. I just bought the game again earlier and still do it.
I really appreciate this video. I never thought about holding the device like this, so this definitely reduces strain, especially since I use an XL. This is my favorite 3DS game, and one of my favorite games of all time, so being able to revisit it comfortably is great.
First thing I did after beating the first level was go in the settings and change the controls so the letter buttons control the camera. It works so nicely.
I've been playing it a lot recently and never had an issue. To be fair though, I definitely hold it differently than when I'm playing other games, so perhaps it's a "I just ate, so no one is hungry" situation.
Played this game both as a kid and even up to now as an adult. I still don’t have much trouble playing it, weird and more awkward than other games but not impossible or even that uncomfortable.
Or you an change the configuration controls from screen to buttons and basically your right buttons (a, b, y, x) become your camera and aim controls. Works for me at least!
This is how I used to play but with the included stand rested on my knee in front of my face 😂 Also I’m left handed so that was fun, thanks Nintendo :3
tbh I just... don't use a stylus at all. It feels a lot more natural to just use my thumb on the touchscreen as if it's anither joystick. Genuinely don't understand why people don't do this
I think I did hold it like that and it still nearly cost me my wrist. No seriously, I almost had to have carpal tunnel surgery. That game is literally a wrist killer.
I just played this game, i dont know what everyone is in about, the closet thing to it being uncomfortable was a very slight pain from holding the console with a single hand
I honestly just hold it with my left hand and just go at it. Was actually not that uncomfortable to me. But I was SOOO I to the game that I might of just never noticed
Not sure why no one ever changed the control scheme, I changed it to where you move with the joystick, and the ABXY buttons are used to look around, best way to play imo
I feel like that way could cause wrist issues in the long run. I never had any discomfort playing this game… and I’ve played it a LOT(well over 1000 hours). What I do is I use my pinky fingers to support the 3ds. Right pinky goes behind the right side, rest of my fingers focus on the stylus aim. Left pinky goes along the bottom edge of the 3ds while my thumb controls movement and index finger presses L. Rest of my fingers just hold the back. I can play for hours in almost any position I want if I put my hands like that.
the way i'd do so is hold the console like normal but put most of the 3DS' weight on my left hand so i can better use my right. I also never understood the control issues despite so many people telling me the game's a wrist killer
If Nintendo made the game uncomfortable intentionally, I don't think Nintendo would have kept the controls like that. The stand is optional. The controls are fine it's not uncomfortable for me
...or, you know, *not use the stylus.* I just used the touchscreen like a giant button. I used the stylus for about half an hour; after I reset the bones in my hand, I said, "screw it", and never used the stylus again. 😊
I did the same, but only during air battle. When on foot, I always used the ABXY buttons to aim and move the camera. That way I can hold my 3ds normally.
I never understood this. I never had any problems with the controls (though I suppose I can understand if you thought it was awkward, since it is a rather unique control scheme), and I NEVER considered that people found it *physically* uncomfortable
I use the 3ds XL and ohhh boyyy
My hands will cramp after a few minutes...
When I was a kid I was the same way. Couldn’t even fathom how people were physically ailed by the game. Now as an adult with fully grown hands, it’s unplayable…
Seemed fine to me
Fr it never bothered me😭😭

This game unironically has one of the best control schemes out there. You just have to find the right way to hold the device.
Maybe it's because I'm usually laying on my bed at home playing it and not holding the system up while sitting in a chair or something, but I actually never understood how people found playing physically painful

Gives me cramps after 5 minutes on a 3ds xl
Gives me cramps after 5 minutes on a 3ds xl
no it doesn’t. it’s unique yeah but at least add some other controls?
Its insane that nintendo had such an obscure game with a left handed controls option
that is EXACTLY how i held the 3DS while playing, and i just did not understand why people were complaining about the controls when i had no problem with it
I found this complaint hilarious as someone who is left handed, it was a requirement to go to settings to change the controls and soon found that you can play the game entirely without the stylus. So yeah, knowing is half the battle people.
YEAH LEFTY!!!! ME TOO
Lefty righty it's all in your mind.
@@omgman5745what 💀
idk using the buttons to aim feels weird
@@nym2259 Hand dominance is only in your head.
I had this figured out since the DS lite when I was 4. People who complained rather than adapt probably didn’t think.
I thought kid icarus couldn’t be played on a ds lite
I always found it comefortable just using my Right Thumb instead of a Stylus. Same with Metroid Prime Hunters.
Totally same
Remember that thumb stylus accessories
And COD
An absolute Story and Multiplayer GEM
Amen! Especially the online battles! It was just so satisfying destroying everyone with my Magnus Club😂
The whole game slaps harder than anything else Sakurai has done outside of smash bros...it deserves a full hd remaster on the switch 2 day one launch game...would sell fantastically and push Nintendo to make a proer sequel tho without Sakurai
This is better than smash in my opinion
Such a funny game, I loved playing the story over and over again
Regardless the hand craps are inevitable, but the game is so entertaining that you have to continue playing. That was my experience anyways.
We did it guys, after 10 whole years, we finally can play this game comfortably.
Dude get better GRAMMAR

Now i understand why i never agreed much when people said that the controls were uncomfortable! because i've been doing this the entire time.
That’s literally how I always played it as a kid
Remapped it so the A,B,X,Y were what moved the camera around. Was honestly pretty great
i always found the controla comfortable but this is actually genius
This is how I intuitively held my 3DS when I played this game back in 2011.
I had two fingers underneath the console for comfort and my thumb and pointer finger on top for aiming. Worked fine for me
Me without a stylus
Exactly, I just used my finger since that was a lot easier haha
I found it uncomfortable at first but i've played the game so much in my life at an early age that i got used to it. Later on i got a 3ds xl and it is a little better there. Wow this game’s difficulty goes WAY up when your left handed
they made an accessory specifically for that

It came with a stand
First thing I did after beating the first level was go in the settings and change the controls so the letter buttons control the camera. It works so nicely.
i was only 12 when something legit almost popped out of the ball of my hand 💀
i held my 3ds like that for almost all my games
It feels like such common sense of course I’m playing this way.
Best way will always be the stand and then sweating in light vs dark
I've been playing it a lot recently and never had an issue. To be fair though, I definitely hold it differently than when I'm playing other games, so perhaps it's a "I just ate, so no one is hungry" situation.

Same for me !
This is the way
Metal gear!?
Didn't realise it was 10 years ago
I always played the game laying in bed, so I'd just put the console on my chest or lap anyway.
I just rest my hand on my lap thats holding the 3ds. I don't get how so many people felt it was this uncomfortable
That is how I play Liberation Maiden!!
I just use my right thumb to control the reticle at all times
I never bought the add on, hell I didn’t know it existed, I play the game perfectly fine
This is how I used to play but with the included stand rested on my knee in front of my face 😂 Also I’m left handed so that was fun, thanks Nintendo :3
new 3ds circle pad counted as that extra peripheral, still awkward tho
A 3DS or 2DS XL also helps prevent cramps because you don't have to claw grip the console.
tbh I just... don't use a stylus at all. It feels a lot more natural to just use my thumb on the touchscreen as if it's anither joystick. Genuinely don't understand why people don't do this
I gotta try that. Just got the game and half way through the first level my hand started feeling tingly.
I utilized a similar hold style where my right pinky would wrap up to push the R button.
I thought this was how everyone played the game... Damn
I thought that was how you were supposed to play the game
I think I did hold it like that and it still nearly cost me my wrist. No seriously, I almost had to have carpal tunnel surgery. That game is literally a wrist killer.
This is what I’ve always been doing and it works fine😅
Thanks for the tip, I just started playing the game. I’ll try this! 🙂
I miss this game, I’m gonna buy it again.

I played this game this way when I was 11. lol
I find that playing on the original 2DS is actually pretty comfortable while playing Uprising.
Wait... Did people just not do this casually?
They do, this video just exists regardless.
Not sure why no one ever changed the control scheme, I changed it to where you move with the joystick, and the ABXY buttons are used to look around, best way to play imo
Stylin' those gloves...Nice.🧤👍
I would just put my right pinky under the 3DS to hold it up
My way of doing it is similar, except instead of hitching it in the ball of my hand, I hitch my pinky underneath to support the weight.
If ur lefts handed just do the same but in reverse it helps a lot with N3DS’s, my only issue is the hand that moves Pit hurts after a while
I never struggled with playing at all. I just hold my 3ds and put my right pinkie behind it for support and I’m good
Holding a Nintendo XL while playing this is PAIN

I just switch between the abxy buttons and the circle pad depending which section I am in a level.
Hack it and remap the buttons with rehid, it makes this game what better.
I just use my right thumb for aiming and hold the 3ds like normal. Took some practice, but it's better than keeping track of the stylus all the time
the way i'd do so is hold the console like normal but put most of the 3DS' weight on my left hand so i can better use my right. I also never understood the control issues despite so many people telling me the game's a wrist killer

Would be nice if they used joy con motion controls for aiming if they plan to remake this game.
Ive also found that playing the game on a 2ds is a lot more comfortable.
What i do is lay down and press my 3DS against my right thigh
This game is the best game on 3ds
I just got a grip on Amazon for my N2DSXL, makes Kid Icarus and every other game a lot more comfortable

People Who play metroid prime Hunters on DS 😂😂
My approach was mgs peace walker comtrols using face buttons for camerabit this is definitely much better
I kinda want to play it now. Although I'm on 2ds so I think it'll be a bit more comfortable
I need a circle pad pro to play properly because I'm left handed
I did the same thing when lost my 3ds handler
It's discomfort was over rated. I don't think it bothered that many people, but a few people really wanted it to be an issue
I've always said game would've been a 10/10 if the controls weren't terrible 🤣still one of my all time favorites despite the fact
I had done this gor YEARSSS
I only managed to get half way through this game, not coz the game is bad but because I’m left handed
10 years 😥
the cod series on ds was similar to this......after a while you get used to the controls...
Or you could just use the stand that came in the box for the game like I have.
i switched the scheme to use the buttons on the right instead
I didn't use the touch screen to aim thank God
Just use ur thumb 😂 that’s how I used to play and the game was so easy
I got the stand with mine
Shit i loved this game
Well.. im doing it all the time
I did this naturally.
can't relate, hands are big and had no issues 🥴
What peripheral are you talking about? My copy came with a stand and I used that
Device? What? I don’t remember even getting that with my game. I just always played it like you’re doing.
I write with my left hand…😢
You can't see the screen like this
I just use abxy to control the reticall
You don't need to lay it down
