  • Welcome to my TH-cam channel! In this video, I'll be sharing my thoughts on the Ultimate Gazzew Boba U4 62g switch, one of the smoothest and most silent switches out there. I'll be testing it on a full keyboard with SA, MT3, and GMK keycaps, so you can hear how it sounds and feels in different scenarios.

    If you're looking for a switch that combines great tactility and silence, the Boba U4 might be just what you need. It's similar to the popular Gazzew U4T switch, but with a smoother and quieter feel. Whether you're a gamer, a typist, or just someone who values a pleasant typing experience, this switch is definitely worth considering.
    So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sound test and review of the Ultimate Gazzew Boba U4 switch. Don't forget to let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
    The tests for this Gazzew Boba U4 Sound Test were conducted using an FR4 plate. During the tests, I performed a typing test and a slow bottom-out test to showcase the switch's sound and feel. I also conducted a decibel meter test to measure the switch's noise level with and without a keycap.
    Please note that sometimes videos are filmed weeks in advance, and as a result, the camera position and angle may have changed since the filming of other linear switch sound tests. However, despite the difference in microphone position, the microphone used in this test was at a similar distance and position, ensuring that the sound quality was not affected.
    Thanks @Gazzew for providing these switches! These donations really help the channel to grow. This was sent to me without any conditions. I can assure you that I will stay impartial in my videos and will always give my honest opinions in reviews and comments.

    Hey there, folks! I'm J-S, and I'm all about making sound test videos for mechanical and non-mechanical keyboards. From the latest MX switches to those classic vintage keyboards, Click and Thock is where you'll find all the keyboard sounds you crave.
    I'm talking everything from old-school Alps SKCM switches and IBM Buckling Springs to the freshest Kailh BOX switches. I put 'em all to the test and compare the different sounds these switches and keyboards create.
    I also like to experiment with different plates, cases, switches, keycaps, and other components to see how they affect the sound. To keep things fair, I always use the same case, plate, and keycaps when comparing sounds.
    So, if you're all about that #keebsporn life, you've come to the right place. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy the sweet, sweet sounds of keyboards.

    Wow, amazing channel. Finally, somebody that has real noise measurement equipment for switch reviews! This is as close to scientific as I've seen, thanks so much!
    btw, I hope you do all silent switches out there so consumers like me who want to minimize noise can refer to your vids

    Lovely review! I run spring lubed U4s in my office rig with SA caps and it's really nice to have that tactility without making my colleagues want to kill me. Truly the best silent tactile that I have tried!

    Wonderful job with the video!
    The quality in testing and editing is outstanding. Would love if you reviewed the gamakay Pegasus switches. Recently tried them and while I did not have a noise meter, they were really quiet too.

    I finally reached your informative video and ordered 105 pieces of Gazzew Boba Black U4 Switch/Silent Tactile. It will bring joy to me and the office I spend time in. And to effectively lube, I would inject KURE's Silicon Lube DX through the white shaft with a syringe. It is method that has already been tried in another red switch. The Lube is on sale in JAPAN.
    Thank you very much for your research and benchmarking activities.

      My “Keychron k2 pro (Keychron Red and Keychron PBT with silicon ring) has undergone better changes.
      They went from Max of 88db and an AtoZ average of 72db to Max of 85db and an AtoZ average of 63db. The cause of MAX is Space bar stabilizer. I might work on making the stabilizer quieter. In addition, the application of Lube had a good effect on improving the feel. U4 is already quiet even without using Lube.

    I've mentioned them to you before, but watching this makes me need to do it again haha: Outemu Silent Cream Yellows. A very affordable alternative to these that are likely as good or better in every aspect except _maybe_ tactility.

    Wonder how this feels compared to Kailh Deep Ocean Whale (tactile) switches? They are silent with high tactility, and somewhat heavier return that provides a lot of feedback.

    Outemu is unparalleled when it comes to making really silent switches that don't feel like absolute mush.
    Also I have a review recommendation. I saw that Outemu recently released a new line of switches, with some interesting budget options like the Tactile Maple leaf and the Linear lotus flower linears. I haven't seen anybody else review these, so I'd love to see your take as the first reviewer on the platform.

    How pronouce the diffrecence between the 68g and 62g?. Can't find 62g around anymore.

      @ClickandThock  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have not tried the 68g, but I have the 65g and it's noticeable, so yes, 68g will feel heavier for sure. It's not a bad thing, that's depend of your preferences!

    So what is the diffrence between u4 and u4tx. Isn't both supposed to be silent?

    • @gk5947
      @gk5947 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      u4tx is semi-silent. It's only dampened on the upstroke.

      U4Tx is U4 with longer stem but if You put it into housing with deeper stem well then it will be completely silent.

    I guess I just need to feel a good silent switch in person, because they all sound like scraping plastic over fine grit sand paper in videos.

    • @hairtoss7975
      @hairtoss7975 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They record at very close ranges, 5cm in this video. At regular typing distance you can hardly hear them, you will hear your fingers hitting the keycaps or when bottoming out hard, you can't hear them if you just rest your fingers on the keycaps and press down. Tactility without sound.
      A better review would be recording sound at really close ranges and recording sound with the mic at ear level on a normal typing position to show how it's really like.

    • @SageOwl
      @SageOwl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup they need lube for sure. Also they need to be paired with a good chassis and especially silenced tuned stabs otherwise all the hallmark annoying sounds ring out.
      Maybe if you use thick closed back headphones you won't hear them.

    • @erickv2739
      @erickv2739 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hairtoss7975 that's what they do in the video. They recorded the bare switch and then with keycap at 5cm, and then did a typing test with no distance specified, so I can only assume at a regular distance like all the other videos, or maybe a little closer. Did you even watch it?

    • @hairtoss7975
      @hairtoss7975 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@erickv2739 Yes, I watched it. I have the U4 and what I hear when typing are my fingers hitting the keycaps or when I type hard and bottom out. When I put my ears close to the board, the sounds on the video are close to what I hear.
      2:25 - You can see the mic above the board. I don't know how high that is but definitely not where our ears are.

    • @ClickandThock
      @ClickandThock  ปีที่แล้ว

      About 40 cm, so yes, closer than how hears! Need to do that if I don't want to catch to much ambient noises, which could be even less reliable ... Thanks to the answer!
