Thank you! No way is there enough attention payed to Redguards in the modding community, which is weird because Redguards are frickin’ awesome. These are some great gems to be aware of!
Honestly, it probably has something to do with racism/anti blackness in “fantasy” communities. There’s no way the Elder scrolls community would be any different.
I certainly wouldn't automatically agree with M A, though it is possible (albeit likely unintentional if so). On the other hand (and not assuming here, but) I deal with white supremacists a whole lot on a daily basis and your comment is pretty much word for word the exact same as I've heard lots of them say many dozens of times. @@theiconicprodigy1736 : I would prefer that it was a stretch too, but two of my best friends that are half black used to play D&D as kids before I met them (we met in our 20's because we are all musicians) and I've had lots of conversations with them about racism (among tons of other subjects) and I can see where that is a thing, although I don't think it's intentional as much as a cultural norm, or whatever you want to call it. Perhaps if you looked around at the fantasy genre, viewing it from their perspective, you'd notice that black people are clearly not often represented in the fantasy genre, and usually when they are it's as the "others" or outright the enemy. I'm not even finding fault with the genre as a whole for that. Even I'm sure at rare times it is deliberate, I'm also sure that most times it's unintentional. Just an honest oversight born out of a cultural norm. I mean, Tolkiens books obviously only represent black people as the enemy, and I don't think he was a racist. His books clearly show how racism of all types is something best for us all to overcome. And he's been my favorite author since I was a child in the 70's. Wow, these mods are beautiful. I wish we had an African gaming genre just like the Japanese. The fantasy aestetics would be so diverse with north, south, east, west and central african culture.

Great video, I'm currently playing as a redguard in skyrim and some of these mods are defenatly going to be part of my game, not all of them as I already have so many mods haha, but I really liked the quest mods, I'll totally download them!
I really appreciate you for making this video. Redguards are my top 3 of my favorite races in TES. Their lore is interesting and I love how they’re based on the Moors, and I find their design very appealing. I really hope that TES 6 is in Hammerfell. Oh btw my other 2 favorite races are the Dunmer and the Bosmer.
Yeah, Redguards are cool, I like them alongside the Altmer, Direnni, and Snow Elves (even though the Snow Elves don't have much Lore behind them, I find their mystery and terrible fate very encapsulating).
I love the Redguards too! And although most people think ES6 will take place in Hammerfell and Highrock, and their arguments for that seem pretty good imo, it recently struck me as odd that of all of the places that Beyond Skyrim are doing, Valenwood and Summerset are not among them. That coupled with the fact that many modders are recruited to work for Bethesda and other game companies makes me wonder if they know something we don't, but their contracts forbid them from even hinting at it. Or maybe it's just that I want to see Valenwood more than any other province in Tamriel, because I am a proud tree-hugger and a huge lover of old growth forests and giant trees who grew up next to a redwood forest irl. But I'll just be happy if I'm still alive when they release it in 2033. lols

The modern IRL concept of Race, and likewise the concepts of both Whiteness and Blackness, is a fairly modern one, mostly a Colonial construct, that AFAIK doesn't really go back past the 1700s. Before then, people might have described skin as "white" or "black" as just descriptions of color, but might just as well describe themselves or others as "ruddy" or "dusky" or whatever. It's unlikely that anyone in-universe would describe Redguards as Black anymore than they would describe Nords or Bretons as White.
