- We talk with Carla Scaletti and Kurt Hebel, the inventors of the Kyma sound design language and hardware. This is the first of a series of videos recorded at KISS 2018, the Kyma International Sound Symposium, held at UC Santa Cruz, September 6-9, 2018.

Kyma is magic, thought provoking, and inspiring beyond words. Carla and Kurt are considered family. Thank you for sharing this. By the way it was great building a Serge Modular panel with you in Berlin earlier this year. Anything is possible Under the Big Tree.

i remember seeing their first ad in computer music journal in .. what .. 1990?? and being just blown away - thinking - WOW - THIS IS EXACTLY what i've been looking for!! took a few more decades before i got my mitts on one though!!
Amon Tobin usage of Kyma on his ISAM album introduced me to this system/software. the sounds he made with it..I never thought were possible. I can't wait to get my hands on one in the coming year!

Thanks for the very illustrative interview! Carla and Kurt seem like very nice and accessible people. Did they mentioned off camera if they are close to upgrading the hardware? I'm getting closer to getting one but since It's been a decade or so since the Paca(rana) was released perhaps an upgrade is close, so I would rather wait just a little bit more.

They did not say anything about upgrading the hardware. My Paca may be a decade old, but it is solid as a rock and fast as blazes...
