  • This is only a small part of what Kyma is and I, in no way, am attempting to make this comprehensive. This video is purely to spark interest in those who either have never heard of Kyma or have been hesitant to take that step into using it.

    Thanks for this. Kyma is like that magical box that all sound designers want but rarely ever see. Great to see inside it.

    Oh excellent. Kyma tutorials / presentations videos are still quite rare, so this is very welcome.

      Agreed. I recently got a Haken Continuum and the logical next step for me would be Kyma but it is soooo expensive and doesn't seem to have a community of outspoken users for support.

      @@dr.eville I am working on it. Been working on tons of projects and not enough time to make more videos. BUT, they are coming.

    I agree with the other commenters. This is great, please do more Kyma tutorials. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of mine and there really aren't a ton of videos out there on it that are as helpful as yours.

    Rad tutorial bro. I’ve been intrigued with Kyma for so many years, but haven’t dropped the funds for it. I don’t know if you mentioned if you have the Paca or the Pacarana and, can you, or do you use it as a DAW platform to arrange songs? You’re quite fortunate to have been able to study under the Scaletti’s; what better teachers are there.🤙

      You can actually use it in your daw with a small signal path work around. Send me a message at austinlopezcomposer.com

    I am intrigued with so many amazing ipad apps, Max software for sound design that can achieve these results why I should invest in Kyma ? Genuinely interested.

    • @exprsyourself
      @exprsyourself  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response. It really just depends on what you want out of it. If you are working full time in sound design and have the TIME to learn, it can be an invaluable tool as it can help you achieve sounds that just no other software out there can. Also, there is a very heavy element to live electronic music performance that comes with Kyma. If you do anything electronic music live, then this would also be very helpful. It really comes down to your needs. What is it that you do?

    19:45 about 20sec of starting and stopping the same file over and over and over again, in the hopes of a different result... not sure if that's a normal expectation when using Kyma (I've had other companies' firmware updates where they basically tell you "just keep trying the same thing over and over, until it takes") but (hi, Korg🙋‍♂️) probably this instance was just an expression of the pressure of making a video😁.
    Been doing my due diligence, as there is a new Kyma announcement tomorrow, and found your video. Hopefully your new (due to pandenic) career direction worked out for you (mentioned under another comment). I'm still trying to understand Kyma from demos, unsuccessfully. My closest comparison is EaganMatrix, which has some similar modules. I'm more into live electronic music vs OST and sfx, and most of those demos are glitchier and unpredictable than I'd want. Looking at Kyma specifically because of compatibility with the Continuum. Thanks for the effort of making this video. The OCD moment (I'm assuming, and hoping, that wasn't a regular "Kyma thing") was entertaining, and I learned a bit more about Kyma.

    27:19 this binaural early reflections demo is ineffective as a monaural recording, unfortunately.

      Sorry for so long delayed response. Yes! I feel you! I dropped all my Max patches after I got into Kyma. The pandemic sort of changed my career trajectory but I still use Kyma when ever I compose or do anything with music really.
