I always thought I'd start out with us general stuff then work my way up. Havent needed to. Harbor freights boxes are a solid competitor and I dont get too upset over scratches or dents or chips.
Having all four casters swivel is a god send. Although I might miss the two wheel swivel dance when attempting to put my cart into a narrow space along the wall.
I moved into my house in 2009, Kingman, AZ, the nearest Harbor Freight to me was 100 miles away, then they opened one 65 miles away, then 50, now they finally opened one here in my town, I can actually see the sign from my house, now this, damn you Harbor Freight. ;-)
I've had mine for about six months and it's quite nice. It's so much better to be able to roll all of my most used tools to where I'm working instead of walking over to the big box everytime I need something. They're part of the Black Friday sale for $529 or so.
I'm here for the black cat who is featured in the reflection of the front of the cart, he keeps meowing at you "I'm RIGHT HERE, PUT ME ON CAMERA" - that's an epic cat tower btw - it looks really sturdy.
I will be getting this cart soon. The snap on truck literally came to work today and the same box was so much more expensive. I’m happy I said I’ll wait because this is going to be my new box!
This looks like a decent cart but I still think the Menards Masterforce is a little better value, I picked up the 36” rolling chest for $539 “before the rebate”, the drawers are 24” deep as opposed to most that are about 18” or so giving a lot more drawer space. And I think the construction and sturdiness of the Masterforce box is a little better than others of similar price. As a bonus they come with pre cut drawer liners! I’ve only had my box for a little bit but im loving it. If you haven’t checked out the Masterforce boxes I highly recommend you do!
Man that is nice. I have the 5 drawer and I have been loving it so far. Only thing that really gets me is that I can’t lock the top with the bigger screwdrivers/prybars. Looks like they fixed that with this one!
Adding this to the list. Wanted a snap on for a long time but couidnt justify $2,500. I can now drive to my local HB and get this for $699. China keeping me great again!
I have one of these and a craftsman box and I gotta say the hf us general one is my favorite. I thought about getting a couple cans of truck bed liner rattle cans and doing some drawer liner and a coat on the outside to protect them a little better.
I have the same cart as you but flat black and my only 2 problems with it is the lack of pry bar/screw driver storage and the depth of the drawers, I'm definitely going to pick one up just for those features lol

Yeah, looks a lot like mine as well lol, but mine is matte black. The harbor freight daytona jacks are apparently made in the same factory as snapon jacks. Snapon tried suing them for design copy, but Snapon lost the lawsuit because they’re produced in the same factory.
Would be nice if HF would use some of these ideas like the full extension drawers and drawer wide latch grabs and make a Series 3 line in the US General boxes. Maybe even slightly better slides or something. Would definitely fix some of the flaws.
I know your comment is a year old, but have you seen the videos from this years SEMA show. The Series 3 boxes are a major step up. And they're going to have them in white and gray. My local HF manager said they expect them around April.
I have been shopping harbor freight since 1983, I know I just dated myself, however in my opinion they had to step up there game to stay in business, for a long time they had the same menu, finally they added more varieties.
Literally the only reason I haven’t bought one and I’m searching for a used snap on instead. Those sliding tops are massively useful especially considering the snap on ones have 120lb slides on them. This cart is still a fantastic bargain but I feel like I’d regret not getting a cart with the slide top.
Tip, use your index finger to buffer the tape end when you snap it back into its rest position. Failure to do so will dramatically shorten the life of the tape measure. Damn nice tool box for the price especially when compared to SnapOn.
I just went to HF website and it lists the casters as being 2 swivel and 2 fixed, all locking. That is typical for tool storage but having four swivel casters makes life so much simpler at times.
I have red the comments about wanting a "slide top" but I worked with a slide top in the past and I hated it. My 5 drawer flip up top holds note, pictures and stickers. If they had a choice between the two different tops I would still go with the flip up top... The cart is just to hold tools that you make money with, I retired at 57 because I did not spend thousands of $$ and give the tool truck guy money to send his kids to college and me not be able to retire. It sure is great to do what I want when I want and not have to "grind" anymore. HFT has certainly upped their game and once they drop the price to something more reasonable, I will get one. My Gen. 1 five drawer cart I got at a yard sale for $100 and I do not cry if it gets a scratch or bumped.

The trucks have a place. Some guys just don't have the $700, but will pay weekly for the name brand cart plus they usually get most of their money back when they trade up.... Plus you always will have the "snap on/Matco/Mac is the best" crowd who won't consider anything else
At that price point it would be good to turn into a diag cart. Mount a monitor to the under side of the lid, lab scope, keyboard and mouse inside and everything else in the drawers.
I have the snappy version of that roll cart but bigger and there only 2400$ list price. I agree on the 5 -10 grand is stupid money for the snappy boxes though there not worth it

Well it might be like the older model Vulcan pro-tig 200 welder that's what Lincoln did. still have mine purchased it back in 2017 1 day went back into HF get some more tips & nozzles machines off the shelf! I'll tell you all 1 badass welder I use it everyday no problems it paid for itself 1st. Month. I bought the Tech cart last night thinking this very well might happen.
I was kind of saddened when I saw they was coming out with these boxes cause I just got a matco 6 drawer cart a week ago for $1700 and I could have waited to get this cheaper one but I love the matco one so far

I thought about getting one of these but when I went to harbor freight to check one out, I was just like my snap on tool cart. Even down to the plastic retainers that lock the drawers in place. The plastic retainers that you press to open the drawers always broke on my snap on box. Even though it has a lifetime warranty, I’m tired of replacing them. I just bought a Mac maxsimizer tool cart instead which I love

Thanks for the review. Looks nice a nice cart. One comment, when assembling with bolts and screws, start the bolts or screws by hand before using an impact driver to minimize cross-threading.
Man I’m not taking the bolts out ever again that’s why I did that. i could careless if they cross thread ever. That’s hillbilly locktite. If it’s something I will have to remove yeah. Also that was a 1/4” brushed snap on impact 30 ft lbs max it would have cross threaded those bolts anyways it would have hammered before it done that. I know my tools bro

The scratches and dents just add character, personally I like my box a little scuffed but that's just me.

Great video and thanks for measuring the drawer dimensions! 19.5” deep, 27.75” wide, 3.75” high. The bottom drawer is 6.75”
But, it would be nice to know how deep the top till is.
I honestly think it’s better than the regular flip top snappy. The full extension drawers are key like you said.
This video came in handy today, junior tech bought one and we laid it over on the box and did the casters.
Now they need to make side cabinet attachment that will fit this thing and it will be the shit!

Upgrade to this is pneumatic tires on caster swivels. Makes the cart roller great on gravel if you're in heavy equipment or heavy duty diesel shops
