Disagree. Games like Fallout 3 & 4 or Cyberpunk have a sense of urgency to their main quests, but because there’s no time limit or restriction on your game, you just endlessly keep doing side quests until you get bored and touch a main quest. Narratively speaking, that makes no sense. This however does make a lot of sense. All your quests are pursuits to further your main goal, and maybe they end up being side quests or maybe not. It adds an element of uncertainty and urgency to your actions which is great. Smart mechanic to encourage the player to focus on the character’s goals instead of just endlessly exploring. Also creates opportunities for vastly different playthroughs each time.

I hope they make it “rogue-ish”. Like, they could make it so every play through is a ng+. If every time you start over, you carry a bit more with you; stats, items and maybe even levels.
Just something to make it so your first runs aren’t a complete waste

Brings me back to my fond memories of Majora's Mask. The limited time mechanic was used beautifully in that game. If executed properly here, granted it sounds like there is no reset, I feel this could be awesome. @greenmann1217 You absolutely should give it another try. It's a more mature Zelda than its predecessor (not knocking OoT, I love that masterpiece as well), and though the time mechanic can feel cumbersome/alien at first, you will quickly adjust. It is not just a gimmick either; it beautifully frames the story and pushes characters through their arcs in such novel ways. It is one of my favorite Zelda games, definitely top three.

Personally I'd lean more towards being the vampire, but depending on what the current mission is and what I have to do, once that's figured out I'll decided to do it in the day or the night.
I like that mechanic, it's interesting and really puts you in a position to really think on what you're doing and how to go about it with limited time. Which will cause you to make some rash decisions down the road that you may not have normally made.
Personally I already like the game, seems like it's going to be fun, intense and challenging. Can't wait to see gameplay and hopefully play it myself.

Sounds great minus the time limit. I enjoy exploring and adding a time limits always sacrifices that. It sucks because it looks really cool other than that one fact. They should make it a option not requirement and it would appeal to more people. Or have to complete the 30 days and nights and open up a new game plus for unlimited time

Reminds me of dead rising, which the first game nailed the time limit mechanic. My only concern is they’re proud that the main and side quests are hard to differentiate. That might make the story either really badly paced or the side quests underwhelming when it comes to rewards

This actually sounds really cool, and seems like it would give the game a ton of replay ability depending on how they lay things out for effecting each other. We already do something like this in D&D games. Time passes, you cannot be everywhere in the game at once, people are going to die, there isn't much you can do about that. Just try to do your best where you are at and hope that ripples outwards.

  • @pjuske0411
