I have a 2017 suburban with only 10,500 miles warrenty just ended and this morning i go to start my truck and it’s struggling to start almost as if the battery is dead but it was recently replaced . I have a check engine light on and reduced power mode warning . I’m trying to figure if it’s the starter or the alternator because of the rough idle after it starts
Could a starter make it sound like the battery is dieing but then starts..only does it every now and then ..when i go to start it sounds weak and then cranks.. almost likebits not going to start but does
Yes most definitely but I would have the starter tested at a reputable parts place before purchasing another one could just be a bad battery or a bad ground
@@FLbowtieguy yes I'm sure they can I know that they can bench test it while it's off of the vehicle but I'm not sure about testing it while it is on the vehicle you would need to call them to verify that
@@eddieg6214 I'm not sure man I guess it could be the starter but usually when you hear a squealing noise when you first start the engine it's something to do with a belt
The car won't start.."drum roll" actually a starter that's going out can do several things like drag during starting, drain the battery, down make clicking noises, or just do nothing at all
It's located on the passenger side in between the motor and transmission. If you go under the vehicle on the passenger side it would be located around the same area where the passenger seat is mounted except for bolted to the engine of course but in that general area of the vehicle I'm not sure if that makes sense or not I hope you understand what I'm saying

where is the starter located under the hood
It's located under the car in between the engine and transmission I believe on the Chevy Tahoe if on the passenger side of the engine

Will a bad starter only squeal on a cold start but not a start once its hot ?
Well I suppose so but I'm not so sure I'm familiar with a starter squealing I usually hear them grinding
