    Man I hate those oil screens took all them off I'd rather have some tiny deposits go through the engine than metal screens. My cam girdle had a ripped one when I took the engine apart. Luckily it past through the cams with a little scorings to the surface.

      Mine destroyed the end of the intake cam and the bridge itself. Only noticed because of timing failure. Deep grooves. Luckily I found the screen and a new NOS OEM VW intake cam (not the fake ones) for $200, when they are roughly 800$.

    Excellent tear down instructions.. I have noticed a little oil on the top of cam tray intake side.. there’s no codes thrown, nor any oil smell and it’s not consuming oil.. it’s a 13 A4 was wondering if I should proactively just replace the breather assembly? Or is this tray gasket? I learned so much from your videos bc you provide those details that no one provides 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 keep on keeping on

    After having the pistons, rings and timing chain replaced by Audi on my 2012 A 4 2.0 because of oil consumption issues, 10 k later I’m told by Audi I need a new motor because cylinder 1 is scored. If the connecting rods were originally replaced when the pistons and rings were replaced do you think I’d currently be looking at an engine replacement?

    you seam to be expert in these engines, i have one . Im very in love with it , used to drive 100bhp Citroen C5 , then 200bhp on DSG sport suspension , its quite a difrence , so i love it . goes as fast as i need . But it does take a lot of oil , 1L at 1000km , so people say its a Piston fault , like Piston rings failing or bad design and it burns oil . How serious is this . They say a lot of nasty stuff can happen . But the engine has 0 faults , all car has 0 faults , nothing wrong with it , it 220000km it works , it pulls , has a bit of noise on start up but timing change hasnt been changed so , and a bit of rattle on acceleration , but hard metal rattle not thin rattle like from waste gate turbo , i dont think its that . All being said runs ok .
    Do you recommend me to like get new pistons , get a timing chain , change the high pressure fuel pump and stuff ,or just run it as is ?

  • @jamesforrest234
    @jamesforrest234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will it still run normal if the hpfp is bad or makes it run rich.? Will the dash computer show it run rich at low gears well driving .? Can a purge valve on the motor cause a bad hpfp or can a purge valve fail because of the hpfp ?

    What year was this engine? If the oil is getting diluted with gas is it always safe to assume that it's the high pressure fuel pump or can a vacuum leak possibly be the cause?

    Can you show how to check the cams/lobes...I rebuilt my engine for oil consumption but prior to doing so it had a cylinder 4 misfire....dropped head to machine shop and they said it had bent intake valves ....put the car back together and same issue....I hear a weird noise at idle near the 3/4 cylinder in the head like a clacking noise every few seconds, no CEL just a soft code for cylinder 4 misfire

    After rebuilding my engine (pistons/rings/waffle style) last year I drove maybe 5k miles. I changed the oil twice and then I drove it about 3k miles b4 an oil change, it was over full... I was not checking it on purpose because I wanted to see if it was burning oil... To my surprise it was like a half a quart over full and smelled like gas. My HPFP and injectors were all new during the rebuild OEM and Bosch brands. I am not sure what the problem is but I had them warranty replaced because I bought them from fcpeuro with lifetime warranty's. So.. now it has another new HPFP and all 4 new injectors again. Is there any way to tell if its happening again or do I have to wait 3k miles to see some accumulation in the oil?

    • @NaptownTuner
      @NaptownTuner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sometimes an injector can stick open but you usually always get a misfire code. Hard start / smoke on start or something like that with a wet cylinder. Was probably the hpfp but I’m surprised, I guess you could have got a bad one. I wouldn’t worry about it because that would be crazy luck to happen again but just smell it or take a sample is the best you can probably do.

      @@NaptownTuner Thanks for the reply. Yea I dunno what else it could be, the car doesnt misfire or run weird. I have no trust in this car anymore its sad actually. The engine is so noisy as in ticks and tocks I dunno what is normal or not lol. I am in the process use using dynomat on my enginebay and engine cover to see if it helps.

    Why do you always remove the screens on the cam bridge and hpfp?

    • @NaptownTuner
      @NaptownTuner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No screen on the hpfp just the cam bridge because it’s prone to come apart, cause an oil restriction and damage.

      @@javiporter272 that’s way too complicated to address in the comments section and you need to make sure it didn’t already do damage. Usually it’s a slippery slope when you have oil pressure issues. It has been the pump for me more than a few times yes. I suggest a complete tear down.

    • @javiporter272

      @@NaptownTuner it already did the damage I replace the cylinder head because when I bought it they said had a misfire on cylinder 3 an when I look at the camshaft the intake camshaft was worn out an eaten up so I replace everything an now I check there’s no oil coming up

    • @NaptownTuner
      @NaptownTuner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@javiporter272 you should be having an oil pressure warning but anytime you have scoring it needs to be addressed first. Sometimes these issues are tricky and there is no way I can know what’s going on with specific situations like these to give easy advice. I’ve put out a couple oil pressure videos already but they were my customers cars and I can’t always go to extremes like I would like to with a full tear down because money is tight sometimes. When I put engines together for cars I sell I have to have everything apart because I can’t take anymore chances with oil consumption, timing, rear main seal or anything else
