Replaced my water pump with ease thanks to this video. I did run into other issues throughout the process like breaking the temperature sensor clip. Also my timing belt was broken so that was a very tough process getting the belt around the pulley but it all worked out. My sensor clip comes tomorrow and we’re back on the road thanks my guy.
Guy at Firestone told me this is a four hour job but I’d get my vehicle back in a day and a half. Also that the cost to replace this part would be $1900. Found this video, bought the part, saved $1700. Thanks boss.
My neighbor asked if I could do this job on their q5 as they were quoted 3 hours and $1500. All the vw videos I found scared me off until I found this one!
Wow, wow wow. This is how all automotive diy repair videos need to be produced. This video alone has done more for me than scouring hours of google, forums, and other videos. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks to this video I was able to replace my water pump and flange on my own, studied the video for 2 days and I’m proud to say my water leak is a thing of the past . Thank you NapTown Tuner🙌🙌🙌🙌

after 1 bloody month of trying to figure out what's wrong with my water pump, you just showed me everything! here in kenya, not many mechanics know about this kind of waterpump falure. thanks a lot man! God bless!!!
Thank you Audi, for making the waterpump belt such a breeze. Not only was it sooo easy to make every tooth align with the tightest tolerance, but I also appreciate the sharp fins to cut my fingers.
thank you and awesome video. My check coolant light came on thursday, watched your video friday and changed my pump saturday for under 300 bucks. There was a chunk of plastic missing at the top of the housing. Subscribed. 👍
It took me 4 hours under the miami sun with water and shade breaks in between, first time for me on a q5. Everything came out perfect. Thank you for your quick teaching. Now, I need to figure out how to exchange a 2017 A4 B9 oil pan from plastic to aluminum.
Thank you for doing this video! I'm not a mechanic but I sure felt like one after I replaced the water pump on my wife's 2017 Audi A6. Your video gave me the confidence to make the repair. 😎
Cannot thank you enough, without you I couldn't afford an audi, and there is rarely anyone who posts anything half as helpful as you! One comment for my install, autozone brand pump looked identical but could not get it into position, just close. Even tried with ratchet straps, nothing would get it. Without the coupling, it went in easy. Took the coupling and sanded it down slightly on each end, less than 10% removed between tips and o ring groove, and then it slipped in fine. My old pump was cracking, and one of the cracks was on the lip of the coupling spot, so I think the coupling was too long and putting pressure there. Not sure if maybe coupling was after market, but I can be sure that next time something breaks I'll be searching your channel again. World needs more heros like you!
Thanks so much for the Audi A4 water pump video. I live in Montgomery Alabama and the cheapest price I could find to install a water pump was 700.00 bucks, so after watching your video I did it myself. Took about two hours. Thanks again!

I watched other videos where they took more things apart and sit there and talk for 5 minutes. I just wanted to see the steps to get the pump out. Thanks for the great video! I just did this job… replaced the OEM plastic pump with a Reinz aluminum. Very nice and made in Germany. The original pump seemed to be in really good shape (101k on the car), but the thermostat was opening early so the engine was never getting above 85°C. So we decided to just replace the whole thing. I was forced to go buy a set of triple square sockets because the bracket you mentioned was still on the car, and I needed one to remove it. Also, getting the new pump on was a BEAR because the gasket kept falling off. In retrospect I probably should have dabbed on a bit of ATV to hold it in place. I've got the exact same issue with my 2013 Audi A4. Same oil leak and coolant leak problem. Dealership quoted me almost $2000 to replace it with the plastic OEM part. Found an aluminum water pump from ECS Tuning for $170. Definitely going to try the repair myself after watching this video
My oil is leaking from the timing chain cover gasket as well, but all my bolts are torqued to spec. The gasket looks visibly deteriorated. Is it as simple as removing the cover and slapping the new gasket on?

Also, I was able to change the belt by just loosening the sprocket. I didn’t have to completely remove it.
Perhaps the most surprising thing to me is the sheer number of cuts I now have on my hands… I’ve worked on a lot of cars in my life and I don’t think I’ve ever worked on one with so many sharp edges! Haha
Good news is the engine now gets to about 101°-102° C and stays there. Hopefully the P2181 code will be no more!
No messing around. you made quick work of that water pump
Sir drops a lot here. WOW! I woulda spent about an extra hour just picking things up off the ground, or fishing them out of tight spots. Luckily I would be working sorta towards the middle of the car. Maybe the things would bounce outward. most likely not. Ty! good job.
Expert in audi engine excellent job you make them simple to repair.
I have a 201 A5 on which the water pump needs to be replaced for the second time
According to the shop it’s a 6 hour job!!
I will show them your video
Thanks
Putting the belt back on: "It is a little bit of a struggle." That's the understatement of the century.
went from 3hours to change a waterpump to 20min, thanks a lot
Damn dude you're a kick ass mechanic. Thanks for sharing your knowledge great video
Wow been looking for a channel like this for months. Thank you !!
I agree with Sticky.... I hate video's that talk about everything and their momma when all i want is to get to the point and show me what to do! Thanks I will be subscribing!
thanks naptowntuner. I'm a big fan of you and because of you I was able to do the water pump job on my audi perfectly. Keep up the good work sir :)
Wow thanks I would’ve never attempted that if it wasn’t for your video, and I have been a mechanic for a long time, sometimes the really hard looking jobs are the gravy jobs I believe that pays 700, thanks again I was sure to like and subscribe
Thanks Napster. I will definitely be doing this this weekend.
Don’t leave comment but what an absolute legend man like ur style
Bruhhhh I been a mechanic over 10yrs and Im fast ASF but baby you competition lol. Amazing job bro!!
Straight to the point, only talk. Thanks
Dude open a Patreon! We all know that what you do is already a bit complicated...but video recording at the same time and doing it in such a short period of time, amazing!!!
Thank you my man! You defiantly picked the right cars to turn wrench on lol. My girl's damn Q5 has both of these same problems just found them out this week at the same time. I'm over this car and all it's shit plastics. I think it's time to trade it in, and have her get back to driving a good old truck.
And the local VW dealership wants $1,200.00 to replace the water pump in my 09 EOS!! You sir are incredible.
Excellent Video. Straight to the point without any unnecessary stuff
Best video I’ve seen on how to’s- you made the belt and seating look like a cake walk which definitely was not easy lol speaks to your experience tho! Thank you so much!
They quoted me $1900 for just the water pump yesterday. Yeah…. No thanks Firestone.
Thanks a lot for all your videos! Whatever happens to my A5, I always hope I will find a solution on your channel! Thanks!
