Thanks Pagraig, another great video and timely for me as putting is my current area of focus to improve further. High side tip, awesome! I've also never really thought about posting more weight on my left or right side at address for putting. Trying it now in the living room it feels like i'm not square up through my posture? Doing it wrong clearly.
Padrig: I watched ur video on putting and how a putt missed low ends up 3x further away than one missed high. I used that thought on every putt today and played a little more break on every putt. I am 71 and I shot my age for the first time. Made 132’ of putts. Great lesson. Thank you.
Your tips are always valuable and much appreciated, Paddy! And, speaking as an American, I can say that you led your team with grace and dignity over the weekend. There wasn't much you could've done differently against that buzzsaw. Nothing to hang your heads about, just prepare for next time. Cheers, Mate!
For a golfer, this is where the rainbow ends. Pure gold! We have access to real, hardearned experience, and at the same time we can sense how much scientific research has added to the presentation.
Loved the tip on long putts, always go high. BTW was concerned you might take a break from your vids. You were hugely respected as a classy Ryder Cup captain, and really appreciate your infectious enthusiasm for teaching us handicap golfers how to improve. Big thank you.
Have always heard of missing on the high side "the pro side" but this video demonstrates what thst actually means visually and from a world class golfer and TEACHER. Thanks Paddy!
I've watched a lot of Padraig's tip over the last few weeks, and my game has gotten a lot more solid. That putting high trick on longer putts really works.
Paddy I can't thank you enough for taking the time to do these videos, they are so helpful and from a man as experienced as yourself they are invaluable. Personally I would like a weight transfer tip from top of my backswing to finish
I’ve never heard the missing on the high side tip contextual used this way. I think it’s a game changer. If I’m not making those putts, I just try to lag them up. Always miss on the low side trying to be precise and not being able to execute. This reframed my intentions. Thx Paddy. Also, well done to you and your Ryder Cup team. Pure Class.
Fascinating and insightful as always! Love the tip on placing the ball 1 inch forward of the sternum to promote the slight upward stroke and get a roll. Also love the tip on missing long putts on the high side to shorten the distance of a 2nd putt. Common sense tips as always but explained in such a way that we can learn to do things right without too many swing thoughts, or technical changes. Keep up the great work Padraig. You are making the technical side of the game far easier to understand by showing us great technique that is achievable for everyone! After you have another 5 wins on the European and PGA tour over the next 2 years, you could definetely have a future as a coach! Absolute legend!!!
I’m a scratch golfer and that’s an extremely valuable tip (miss extra high)! It’s something I instinctively do but I have never seen it put into words/tip before.
Thanks very much for these tips of gold , I played 9 holes at a new course yesterday and shot 2 over with only 13 putts . My usual playing partners couldn’t believe how good I putted . I told them to watch your channel. Now on to watching your driving tips. I can’t Thank you enough for taking time to make these videos.
I’ve been playing over 30 years and have heard countless times that amateur golfers borrow too little break. This is the very first time explaining that the higher borrow gets the lag putts closer! Brilliant.
Thank you for clarifying the grip in this video. Very useful to see the differences between it and a more orthodox "in the fingers" grip for the rest of the game.
Would love to hear your advise on any of the below please Captain Harrington. 1) Long putts - in particular reading the green and speed. 2) Deciding between chipping or putting when just off the green. 3) Short chips from rough when about 15 feet away from hole (sometimes struggle to accelerate through the ball which results in duffing the chip). Great tips as always, love trying to put them into practice. Go raibh maith agat!
A great series of tips Padraig, presented in an understandable and simple fashion. Please keep up the good work. Hitting longer range putts high on the high side is the one stand out tip for me. You have always putted left hand low with great success as others like Jordan Speith, Jim Furyk and many very successful golfers. Would you consider producing a video with your thoughts on why you use this method, advantages, how you place your hands, which hand delivers the hit, effect in controlling wrist break-down, view on arm lock or long putter methods by comparison, etc. Can I also add to the the many other contributors in praise of your captaincy of the European Ryder Cup team and what a great job you did away on American soil especially with very limited European support due to travel restrictions.
Always love your videos Padraig. I hope you're relaxing after the marathon of being a Ryder Cup Captain. You're one of the good-guys Padraig and one of the most respected human beings in the World of Golf. You will be remembered as being a fantastic Captain, much loved and respected by players and fans. It was simply a watershed year for the Ryder Cup in terms of the strength of the USA team and the lopsided fan-base. All outwith your control, you did it right Padraig.
Excellent lesson. Just what I needed. I’ve changed my full swing and pitching/chipping swing, and I’m hitting it better. But I’m missing the putts. You’ve convinced me to go back to “left hand low” putting. I tried it 20 years ago but couldn’t get the pacing right. Always long and felt my stance felt open. Even when I putt left handed, I’m lead hand low. But your lesson here I think just gave me the grip I need for “left hand low” putting. Thanks Paddie, and great job in the Ryder Cup. Your boys came to play and played well. 🥂
Absolutely brilliant Padraig..the amount of videos I've seen and there was no mention of some of your extremely important points. In particular the high and low. Thank you
Thanks for the tips. People always say confidence is the key to putting, but in my experience, if you don't have good technique, you will not succeed, no matter how high your confidence. I liked the tips on hitting up on it slightly, and on giving it a tap. Both valuable bits of advice.
This is great, Padraig. The things I found most helpful were looking for the tap (prevents me tending to push it, which I'm prone to do) and aiming to miss wide on the high side. I nearly always under-compensate for breaks/slopes. Thanks very much.
First time watching your channel, and although I have heard many times that we should always miss high, I thought the only reason was the hole is "bigger" on the high side. Never heard about the shorter miss on the high side. Thanks Paddy, you are a top class player and having
Thank you, sir, again. I changed my putting grip from right hand down to left hand down, and since that my put bern more stable. You explained why it did. ✌️. Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much Paddy. I never really thought about Ball positions in putting. I guess that’s why I’m watching this great lesson. The worst part of my game. Cheers 🥃🇨🇦. I’ll put this to work.
All of your tips and lessons have been fantastic! For your question on most useful, Always felt like I had a neutral grip but am working to make sure I have it deep enough in my fingers. 2nd, was use of hands and chest in the golf swing, spot on! Darn near put a ball through my apartment wall when chipping the compression was so much better and the last tip was putting left hand low to improve shoulder alignment. It will take time to be comfortable but I see the benefits you explained. Thank you for all of your videos! Jeff
I've always been quite a good putter but have been missing a lot lately and have been playing about and trying allsorts. This was a masterclass Paddy. Thank-you very much. I play with the passion of you and your opens wins inspire me.
Paddy, Thanks for the tips! I missed the cut at my provincial amateur this year simply because I had the yips. I was missing tap ins and I even had a 4 putt. Your thoughts on the “tap feel” really sits with me. I spent all year trying to smooth it out, but clearly that didn’t work! This is gold info coming from a multiple major champion. I can’t thank you enough for freely sharing this information. Thanks so much!
Great lesson - can't wait to use these techniques. My putting sucks, but these tips will be a great new foundation for me - thanks for taking the time to share!
Ok, so got a chance to try some of your tips out yesterday and I must say, my putting was 'very good'! The tip on long putts (stopping the follow through) - very effective. I had a 50 footer on a par 3 and got it 3 feet (perfect length, just a tad right) and made my par. Also understanding the arc rather than trying to putt with no arc was a big plus. :)
Brilliant video yet again, thank you very much. What I would give to have you go through my game. You explain things so well and are so aware of the challenges that handicap (and professional) golfers have, it is incredible. Thank you again. 👍
Padraig, congratulations on winning the Senior US Open! It was truly a pleasure watching you tackle Sauron Valley CC, I had a few good friends playing in the tournament and know how difficult the wet rough was on Thursday, you played amazing golf.
Great lesson! Covered all the key elements all great putters use. Would love to see more on reading greens and developing feel for distance putts. Thank you and please keep these lessons coming.
It's amazing how everything makes so much sense when you're being taught by a professional so thank you padraig for the tips and guidance now all I have to do is remember them when practicing one tip at a time 👌, best of luck for the rest of season and thanks again for sharing your knowledge, Joe in court own GC.
Better to miss putts on the high side for a closer 2nd putt. Now THAT'S and excellent golf tip that I haven't though of! Thanks for the great putting lesson Padraig! 👍⛳
Some useful tips I've not seen in other videos. One missing for me is how to get your forearms and putter shaft in a straight line - which most pros seem to do but few amateurs achieve.
Many many good tips here - dropping the left arm instead of the right arm, hold the club in the palm not the fingers, miss on the high side... fantastic help, again! (ps. the garden looks so much bigger than last year :)
Let me know in the comments below what you think are the most useful tips!

Love the high side tip! Now to work on the grip.. Most legit TH-cam golf instructor in the world! :)
My tip would be ankle length fairway rough in Rome...
Anything you share with us is the most useful!! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to share your knowledge
Great stuff again..love the short game stuff.. Struggle with 20-40 yard pitch shots. More please 😂
Missing the longer range putts on the high side … pure gold tip, thanks Paddy !
Padrig: I watched ur video on putting and how a putt missed low ends up 3x further away than one missed high. I used that thought on every putt today and played a little more break on every putt. I am 71 and I shot my age for the first time. Made 132’ of putts. Great lesson. Thank you.
The stopping at impact has transformed my putting....this is pure gold.

Great post, couldn't have said it better
This guy is a natural instructor. A gift.
Your advice about going on the high side is gold dust.Great tips from someone who has done it all and just wants to give something back: wonderful!

The "tap" thought is great, gives a positive image to the stroke.

Putting way high and trying to stop at impact have just worked wonders for me.
Fantastic lesson,
You re the best instructor on TH-cam by far… simple and pragmatic tips always wins

Brilliant as always. Never heard the missing on the high side tip. Makes so much sense.
Amazing, in a few minutes Paddy has identified all of my putting flaws and explained how to sort them! Top bloke!
Watched for the third time just now.., always a good idea to refresh the lessons by Paddy. This is gold.
Thank you for clarifying the grip in this video.

God bless, Captain.
For the sequel, please kindly share your experiences, skills, and techniques in green reading. 🙏
Very soon!
On todays video, the 3-1 ratio of break for amateurs and the high-low side of long turning puts were really useful tips. Thank you!
Downhill putts are the trickiest for me. Thanks for the great video.
Priceless advice. Your chipping technique became a fundamental for me. I’ll try your putting technique. Thanks a lot PH.
P this is the best instructional video I have seen in years, thanks. My putting was never bad but now vastly improved..
Glad it helped

I'm a lifelong Golf Pro, 56yo, American. Padraig is an excellent instructor and a damn fun person to be around
throwing a golf ball 6ft in front of you makes you realise what you haven't been doing all these years. Great tip. Thank you Padriag.
Love the simplicity and logic of the lessons Padraig.
What a great video. Thanks Paddy!

Everything you say is worth listening!!
This is seriously the best putting instructional video I have ever watched. Thanks Padraig!
These are the best instructional videos out there. I miss Paddy on tour
Watched this before my round this morning. I have never, ever putted this well. The tap.
Brilliant, aiming on the high side is a great tip. I'll try all your tips. Thanks
that tip on higher putts finishing closer is great, never even thought of that x
I appreciate the way you tell us ie 1” in front of the sternum and that’s how it is “ no what if’s or what about…thanks again
Thanks Paddy, some great tips here. I like what you say about keeping putting simple. The best putters have very a basic technique.
Absolutely brilliant Padraig..the amount of videos I've seen and there was no mention of some of your extremely important points. In particular the high and low. Thank you

Well done Padraig! Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It was full of great information.
My putting game is absolutely killing my score!! I need to work on this hardcore this year. Thank you for the video!!
Thanks! I really needed this!
That was really helpful advise regarding how much to approach a putt with lots of break.
Great stuff! 👍
First time watching your channel, and although I have heard many times that we should always miss high, I thought the only reason was the hole is "bigger" on the high side. Never heard about the shorter miss on the high side. Thanks Paddy, you are a top class player and having
Absolutely brilliant
Great tips, my favorites are the thought about closed/open shoulders and the eye-opener on low misses.
Thank you, sir, again. I changed my putting grip from right hand down to left hand down, and since that my put bern more stable. You explained why it did. ✌️. Thank you 🙏
The factor of 3 tip is a goodie. Love those 2 ball putters! Thanks for the great content presented simply and clearly :-)
Great tip about putting on the high side. I always end up with the 6ft plus putt but not anymore...hopefully!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much Paddy. I never really thought about Ball positions in putting. I guess that’s why I’m watching this great lesson. The worst part of my game. Cheers 🥃🇨🇦. I’ll put this to work.

Great lesson Paddy.. Congratulations on yet, another win!
As always, super informative. So sick to get such detailed advice from a multi major champion!
Thank you Paddy, for spending time sharing your insight, great stuff!!

Great explanation for why to go high on the putts, I never considered the extra run after missing low side
Everything has been helping me 👍👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

I had no idea about the factor of 3 with the miss high vs the miss low, but it does explain a lot of my 3 putts. Such a really useful tip.
Very well delivered tips as usual Padraig
Thanks padraig enjoyed it you’re the best
The reinforcement of the technique through the video is great and it’s a great tip to err on the high side.
Great tips Paddy. Well explained. Cheers
Great lesson! Covered all the key elements all great putters use. Would love to see more on reading greens and developing feel for distance putts. Thank you and please keep these lessons coming.
Thankyou very much padraig ,great advice ,I found the always keep the ball on the high side the most useful tip

Great video. Well done in trying to organize the information and measuring your progress.
Missing on the high side to keep it closer is something I've never heard before that is pure gold.
love this video - great tips
Thanks Paddy. Love the long put tip.
Thanks, grateful if some tips on clearing hip will be presented in the future..
Great tips, cant wait to change my putting, thanks Padraig
Brilliant about the break on a long putt, I never thought about that
Missing on the high side. Didn’t realise that ended up closer. Golden, thanks.👍🏻
Some useful tips I've not seen in other videos. One missing for me is how to get your forearms and putter shaft in a straight line - which most pros seem to do but few amateurs achieve.
Quality tips as usual Paddy 👍
I want to thank you , I’ve use your putting Style and technique , and I’m great putter now 👍

Love the miss high tip on long putts never thought of it but so true they go further away when I miss low!
