    I had a Bandit that was 20 years old serviced it myself ,never broke down or refused to start even once . Only needed normal wear & tear parts replacing , kept engine & airbox & exhaust bog standard. Only needed to have two stainless steel collars welded where the mild steel joint on exhaust rotted .cost 20 quid . Fitted twin braided hoses on front brake ,crass bars ,givi fly screen ,Renntec sports carrier ,gold x chain & chain guard / hugger . 2000 Y naked model . Best looking 600 street bike ,more than enough power in the mid range for real world road riding ,loads of factory & quality aftermarket parts fit it . The Hornet & Fazer might have more top end , but neither here or there on public roads ,& they haven’t got the cult status or good looks of nor look as good when tastefully pimped as a Bandit 👍

      @EpicAdamMotovlogs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I loved this Bandit. I'll happily buy it back or get another one. I had a fazer after this but it didn't have the character the Bandit has.
      Now I happily own a Himalayan because it's suitable for my style of riding but I hanker for the thrill the Bandit gave me.
      Thanks for watching. Your Bandit sounds like a beaut

      @@EpicAdamMotovlogs I have sold it now due to health reasons & downsized to a 250 De parallel twin V Strom . The Bandit was a great bike & was reluctant to let it go ,but it needed to go to a younger rider ,who would be able to give it longer runs & justify owning it . When I was looking for a 600 back then ,I noticed that all the front forks on the Bandits were in better nick on used Bandits than on the fazers most were leaking oil . The Hornets had what looked like a hoover tube sticking out the side of the engine & exhaust that was too high up ,not a good looking naked bike ,needed it’s engine hidden by a fairing & the Ducati monsters where pig ugly . The Bandit was just right & will still look right in 50 years time .. I am more content now to take life at a slower pace ,& actually see the scenery I am passing as I ride .that I hardly noticed before . I also like to turn down all those roads I often wondered where they went to . Bikes like my Suzuki 250 V DE V Strom & your Himalayan are more suited to bimbling & exploring .. I have owned & ridden bikes from 50 cc Honda cubs to superbikes ,but my favourite bikes I owned were my 1980 black Honda CB 250 RSA 4 valve single & my blue 2000 y model naked 600 Bandit . Both were 100 % reliable & used all year round in all weather & only ever got the odd tyre puncture . & cheap to run . Hope you find a good Bandit ,I reckon soon people will be reluctant to let go of them ,as they become a collectible classic . 👍

    This video made me want to go punch my Bandit because it brought back a lot of the original nonsense I fought before getting it running right. My first thought though after your first stall was that the battery sounded quite weak. Clearly it still had quite a bit of juice because of the amount of times you were able to crank on it, but it just stuck out a bit to me.
    I think you're bang on that it is contaminants in the fuel. The fact that it worked itself out with more riding lends to this. The worry I would have is if the contaminant that's making its way through is rust--if it is, that's a problem that may continue to pop up. If you're not seeing a rusty tank, then maybe it was just some stuff that unfortunately made its way in.
    Good luck man. Glad you got it going again and out of danger.

      @Tobias Schaab They do, but not a high pressure one like you'll find in tanks of bikes with fuel injection. My ZX9r is carbbed and definitely has a fuel pump, they usually run at very low pressure like 2-3psi.

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tobias Schaab and a pump, check the parts list at the manufacturer. The petxock is just a fuel switch, they still have a low pressure pump. I wouldn't just say that if I didn't know. Maybe you need to go do a bit of research on that mate 😎
      I think you may be getting confused with the way the fuel gets from the tank to the carbs, with how the fuel gets from the carbs to the combustion chambers bud 👍

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tobias Schaab Fuel gets to the carbs in part by gravity, the low pressure pump just makes sure it gets enough to feed the engines needs. The gravity part is why you still need a fuel switch/petcock.
      Early ones like yours may have a vacuum pipe going to the fuel pump from somewhere to give the pressure needed, if it's not electronic like later models. But it still has one, the fuel does not get to the carbs directly from the vacuum of the combustion chambers.
