You don't have to live in self pity anymore because Jesus paid the price for you and I a long time ago. That's what it means for your sins to be washed away, god rids us of our filth. Stop focusing on your failures (still repent) but focus on what God called you here for.

I often relate to my namesake, Peter, with his words of, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man.” Yet, Jesus doesn’t depart, but says, “Don’t be afraid.”

@@MaryDunford - This man make multiple mistakes in his video.
In 12:01, he quoted verse Mk9:29 - "This kind can come out only by prayer".
Then he went on to say Jesus did not teach them how to pray.
Now let see what the KJV bible speak in verse MK9:29 - And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Brandon this is the second time I've watched this on Mark 9. I can't say that any of the scripture was a surprise. . . but I can say what you said in discussing the words in the scripture was so eye-opening it brought me to tears.
Your way of teaching is so amazing. Your church is truly blessed to have you as their pastor. Such insight in such a young person.
And if you're not reading a teleprompter you're pretty amazing!
You don't need notes for prayers anymore and someday I hope I don't either.

Once again, Brandon, I am amazed at your ability to give an in depth logic to the Word! Wonderful!!! Could it be that the disciples' fear of Jesus may have been that they were not sure if they could live up to what Jesus wanted them to do? He told them they would suffer for His name's sake. God bless you for your insights!

I wish to speak about the Disciples and others you tell us about being "terrified". I have found that being "terrified" is rarely about being scared of something. It usually is about having to rectify behaviors we wish to NOT deal with. In other words...in the Disciples reactions to Christ's teachings they "act" as if they don't understand.....it is exactly that. They move the teaching aside. They do not want "to go" to information about their Rabbi's future....to his death or leaving them. I fully understand. I did the same with my parents. So...they were so enamored with all they were learning in the present with their teacher and the miraculous events they were witnessing.....they didn't want these things to be destroyed by the future.

Hey Brandon. I'm a big fan of your videos, keep it up! I'd like to address your comment that we keep learning new things about Jesus in every chapter, and that we can't just infer the rest from an intro. I kind of disagree. I don't know enough about scripture to assert when it was said, but if you truly understand the most basic assertion, it will literally imply everything he does. 1) Reality is like a dream. 2) Though we perceive separate characters, they are all driven by the same dreamer, or God. 3) Jesus is a character, just like all of us, but with direct access to the larger mind. 4) The more attached you are to the material illusion, the more selfish your actions become, and the more you suffer. The more faith you have in our unified eternal consciousness, the more selfless you are, and the closer you will be to Heaven.
I could boil this down more, but it's a modern simplification of the ideas Jesus spread, and EVERY SINGLE ACTION he took can be anticipated, if you truly understand the larger truth. Jesus isn't afraid of death, because death is part of the dream. He doesn't judge or hate others, because they're all just him in a different skin suit, having a unique experience. He can affect any change simply by knowing it's a dream and believing he can. For the rest of us who actually think it's real, we must have faith in his assurances in order to gain the same control. ie: "This mountain will crumble if I raise my hand, because Jesus said it would." The world reflects our beliefs, and if we can't convince ourselves it's a dream, then we can at least convince ourselves that Jesus grants us authority to change things. I could go on forever. Nothing Jesus did is a surprise if you understand what he knows. We are one, living in an eternal dream, believing we're separate, and being tested to prioritize the whole over the individual. God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient because he is the mind that is manifesting all of reality and awareness within it. He is each of us. Another word for the dream is "God's Image." We were made within the "Image" or "Imagination" of God.

    • @DeanLangley
      @DeanLangley ปีที่แล้ว

Fasting while I think it has a place. It would seem the KJV and others added the part about fasting. It’s not in the gospel of Mark at all and seems to be added to Matthew. Kenneth S. Wuest in his translation it’s not there. Neither is it in the English Standard Version. Neither is it in the Revised Version. Fasting was common to Jewish people. But I have yet to find a good instruction of what fasting does except for my own experience. All I can offer is that we pray to the Father. Jesus is the Way to the Father. No flesh shall enter heaven. Seeing we are spirit, soul and body, fasting helps suppress the flesh and its appetites and allows our spirit to rise. The Kingdom of Heaven is up but not in the way some suppose. The key is to live our life in a way that our prayed our heard. Nobody wants to encounter someone demon possessed and say oh wait I’ve got to go fast I’ll be back in three days. I’m making light of it but if Jesus isn’t on our mind 24/7 it’s not likely we’re going to get an immediate answer.

I have gotten more out of this teaching more than any particular video yet. It spoke to me so intensely. I have shared it and I can only pray that it will speak to others as loudly as it has to me. Thank you dear Lord for your understanding to speak on this. 🙏

Great as always. Wanted to thank you for your book suggestions. I just read Sitting at the feet of Rabbi Jesus and loved it 😍. Understanding 1st century Jewish culture helps so much and draws me closer to scripture and it’s references and significance. Between you and books like this I’m not only seeing things through new eyes but feeling them with a new heart. What you are doing takes things to the level they are meant to be understood and makes such a needed difference.

"In my name" in Aramaic is "b'shemi" which is an Aramaic idiom meaning "in my way of doing things" or " in my way of living." It is not an incantation. Pagans believed that if you knew the name of a god you could invoke their power. Modern Christians do this when calling on "Jeeesus" but that is not what he was instructing us to do. When we "pray in his name" it means we pray in the method he prayed. We pray to the same God he prayed to. It doesn't mean we pray to Jesus. And btw, his name in Aramaic is Eshua. Pronounced "Eee-Shoo-wah." But he told us to pray to OUR father in heaven, not 1/3 of himself. And "father" in Aramaic means "beloved." In the Near East it's a term of endearment. ♡ Hope this helps. ✝️

These words of Yeshua (Jesus) scare me too:
Jesus will vomit you out of His mouth!!!😱
New King James Version Revelation 3:14-22 The Lukewarm Church “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’-and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked- I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”

Wow! When you talk about the collectivist culture that was instilled in them, a lot of the O.T. made sense to me. In the Levitical law, it was clear that sin is a cancer and contagious, this is why God said to remove these people. We know that sin entangles and will hook others to their downfall and/or perdition. God, the Perfect Father was merely protecting His Own--these punishments have been deemed as "harsh, mean" and even "evil", but any parent would do what it took to protect their children.
It makes sense that by Jesus' time, the collective culture was well established, and what affects one, it will have a ripple effect and affect others--even society! It has ramifications. Great video and I learned a LOT; praise God for opening my eyes. Your vid has been a blessing to me. God's peace and joy be w/you and yours.
    Shalom

Thanks for your teaching . Please note that the photo you posted of Mount Hermon is actually Mount Tabor in the Jezreel Valley, the other possible site of the transfiguration.
    Mount Hermon looks quite different.

I love this passage since I had to be delivered from those things. Mathew proceeds to add "prayer and fasting" to the equation,
highlighting a key component in the spiritual life. Fasting is so important. Jesus's whole action in the gospel and our daily life is constantly teaching using every element that connects to every thing that led to this very moment artfully.
    This is a great study.
