    Nice video Adam! So how does one best avoid those noise abatement areas? Especially when flying to new places I find it difficult to recognise the circuit pattern... any tips?

    • @PrivatePilotFlightVlogs
      @PrivatePilotFlightVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question! SkyDemon had the majority but always best when PPR to check before hand and ask them if there is noise abatement map you can download, then you can overlay onto SkyDemon.

    Hey Adam! I love your honesty, and I think it’s safe to say we’ve probably all done this. I try and zoom in on sky demon and avoid the little red areas but it’s not always easy when you’re in a busy circuit! Keep them coming mate

    Great video - again - thanks. Your new home!
    My mate did his second or third landing (Eurostar EV97) there, grass north side (in over the top of the hangers/tower, 26?), grass was a bit long and runway was rough. He said it was as rough as a badger's bottom, LOL. Hope it's improved since. IIRC one has to avoid the chicken sheds too. The circuit height is quite low too, not as low as Eg Clench Common though.

      That’s right 26 grass north is over the hangers. It looked pretty tidy to me last week. 😜

    Its a tight circuit. People need remember aircraft meaning they are not using train tracks. Yes its important to avoid + sensitive areas. Even few people moan about the F1 tracks. What headings do you use for your downs winds?

    Very nice video Adam. The new base looks good. Did I read that there was an informal fly in there this week? or were they just promoting good food? Keep working on your mum, I am sure she will enjoy it 😎.

      Thanks Tim. Yes it’s a great setup, and lots of exciting plans too. I think the guys that operate the hard and grass were promoting a fly in of sorts but I’m not around. Mum said she is getting more confident, we’ll see!!!! 🙏

    Tut Tut :-) Once you get to know the circuit you should be okay but at a new field and a bit rusty, better to fly safe then worry too much, lesson learnt. (Aviate, Navigate, Communicate)
    Three runways all in the same direction (Like some international airport!).
    One thing that did not show on the video, we see you looking into the circuit a lot but not looking out of the circuit for joining traffic (not sure it that is your editing or if it is you), always worth looking for people joining without using radio or miss calling position (have had a few try to join my bit of sky!!).

    • @PrivatePilotFlightVlogs
      @PrivatePilotFlightVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know 9 years at Wellesbourne and knew it like the back of my hand so it will soon become the new normal!
      Yes three runways...certainly keep me on my toes!
      To be honest I was concentrating so much on trying to follow the circuit pattern , other aircraft in the circuit and keep at 800ft I was probably wasn’t consciously looking for other traffic joining. 😱

    • @PrivatePilotFlightVlogs
      @PrivatePilotFlightVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s called a hamble conversion. The modification was made to several PA28s in the 80s (here in the UK) after a fatal collision at a training school.

    Hi Adam, nice to see you are now flying from Enstone - I've been flying from there since my first trial lesson (about 4 years) - think you will like it a lot!
    As with all circuits there is a lot in the one at Enstone and it happens very quickly (not helped by it only being 800ft AGL). There are however several landmarks (you may have come across some already) that you might find useful to help. 26 is the best as there is one on each corner of the circuit. They are the lake hidden in the trees by Heythrop House to turn crosswind, the small zoo to turn downwind, and the appropriately named "square farm" just before you turn base. You can also judge base quite well by lining yourself up with the Renault F1 factory (the large white building) perpendicular to the runway.
    Hope you enjoy flying from Enstone in the future - and maybe I'll bump into you there sometime!

      Hey Peter thank you so much for the message. YES!! Great to finally be there it’s been along time coming.
      It’s a fantastic airfield, super relaxed compared to Oxford, and has a really good feel.
      Thank you so much for the below I will go back and review to spot the landmarks. I was wondering where Renault was!
      Absolutely, would love to meet you. 👍👍

      @@PrivatePilotFlightVlogs I think there's a danger in getting used to flying circuits by reference to landmarks - they're only good for that one airfield. Far better to ingrain ourselves to use whatever "standard" references to the aircraft we have (for a C172 it's half a wing strut on downwind) plus the 45º line (downwind to base) etc. that will work for circuits/approaches at all airfields.

    • @flyingkub

      The thing is circuits are good, especialy with GA aircraft, when you can clock up a lot of hours with not many landings. With some flying clubs, it is almost looked at, as you must be (or feel like) a rubbish pilot if you fly circuits. In the past several pilots have been killed by this attitude to circuits, with the V tail Bonanzer (it got called the Dr Killer) as the pilots (often Dr's) flew once a month to some place and back and because they did not practice landing got rust on the most critical parts of the flight (Take off and Landing) and ended up at the wrong speed and crashing. For the 90 day rule they should also be full stop landings, unless I missed a rule change.

    • @peanuts2105
      @peanuts2105 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@flyingkub I couldn't agree more! I always try to land away which is great for flight planning, weather and local procedures to get the brain and hands thinking. Push yourself I always say, but not to the point where you are not comfortable. One of my recent flights I could only do circuits because my wife was expecting and I couldn't go far!

    • @flyingkub
      @flyingkub 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@peanuts2105 I like to fly away but I also like to clock up the take offs and lands as well, so I will often come back and do a couple of landing (without all the landing fees), at my home field.

      90 day rule is for carrying passengers.
      Someone who hasn’t flown for 6 months could fire his/her aircraft up and go flying!
