Been doing concrete for 50 years and all my tools are so old. Remember when we had wooden bullfloats and they said it was old school. Now wooden bullfloats are making a comeback.
Shoot I have made make shift wooden floats for small jobs around the house.
I really like how you talk to your crew. You can tell that you have respect for them. They have respect for you It’s a beautiful thing. Keep it up. Remember if you don’t use concrete it’s your own asphalt.
A few of my newbies thought asphalt was a rectal disease!
I'm 60 and only have done concrete work at my home. It was great to see that even those who do concrete everyday can always learn something new.
Go Zappa!
True
Do things is important, but do things fine is more important.I´m gonna say Shawn is the winner.
I really love the rock in between and on the sides! It turned out beautifully 💜❤️
It is so enjoyable to watch the pros. This is truly an art.
Like most jobs, the more you do the better you get (working smarter not harder).
I don't always broom finish concrete, but when I do it's with a 50% nylon 50% horse hair broom!

really liked the part where you were talking about pressure with that trowel. one thing in these videos that is never really communicated to the viewer are details like that. you all make it look so easy that details like that aren't readily perceived on video. great work as usual!
I concur
TY
This is turning into a beautiful job! Y’all’s camaraderie was delightful! I bet the homeowner was thrilled! I love your videos!❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Now thats a great boss! Pizza! Nothing brings people together better than breaking bread Love it.
It is fortunate the pool guy next door didn't flood the yard on pour day. That would have been a total disaster!
It’s nice to see you appreciate raza and see that they also appreciate you .
The finish product looked awesome with the decorative rock. Definitely looks better than artificial turf in between the slabs.
I concur
Nice work brothers. You guys are the MAN.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Every finisher has their own preferences. But, for me it was far too wet of a mix, a slump test would have confirmed I think. Don't know why there were so many short screeds working, that seemed to rake the high spots instead of "saw" them by screeding. I used to screed, form to form, sometimes twice. You will never get as level a finish with eyeball short screed as you can with a full length straight screed. Pump sure makes it a lot easier, back in the day it was extensions on the chute, and wheelbarrows for what the chute couldn't reach. Back then crete was running less than $50 a c.y.
Do you have just oil in that spray tank? I use a 50/50 mix of oil and diesel fuel. Basically add the oil & diesel and shake it before each use. It's a great combo and the forms pretty much just fall off when you remove the stakes. And turn the tip until it's spraying instead of that stream.
A totally different look. Nice.
Thank you! 😊
Consider in snow country, you might avoid the rocks in the gaps. Snow removal blades would displace some rock. Weed barrier is a good idea, but in 3-4 yrs there'll be just enough soil in the rocks to support some weeds or grass. My own preference is actual brick in the gap or just set a brick-like template in the wet crete, with maybe dye to your liking.
The skill here is totally unerrated. I love how you and your crew banter, like, I want to be there in the mornings talking about tools with you all and I dont even work in the industry. You all have a great work/joy balance. Definitely a new sub ❤
That pizza break was long enough for the bleed water to evaporate. The concrete finished up beautifully!
(Think I’ll order a Little Caesars tonight! 🍕🍕🍕)
Watching this I was worried it would not turn out good but it did. Nice job! On to the next one.
Another great job! You guys do some of the best work on TH-cam.
TY
Shane for the win!
I helped pour concrete when I was in High School. We always used a jitterbug that pushed the rocks down and brought the cream up. I watch several concrete channels and no one uses a jitterbug.
This made my day 😂 team shane all day! Oh yeah it's 420 , BREAK TIIIIIIIIME 🌿💨
Shane but he also had a small difference but a Small.
I am laughing: they say women have too much fun shopping!!😅 you my man got me laughing you're so happy.
Thanks for the content.
Finally I see who’s behind that voice lol old viewer back keep up the 🔥 content
Who would have thought pouring and getting ready to pour concrete would be this interesting. You do a very neat job.
Another sweet job well done boy's Good teamwork😂
The Little Caesar chorro dice rolled right for your crew.
you know what this guy said that really made me think you all should hire him .... "Get it perfect" ... Bro well done at you for taking pride and actually wanting to give this industry some good tone that should hopefully ring out through your career. woop woop!!!!
Great job fellas , I’m in Melbourne Australia
I’m gonna say Shane because quality should always come out on top.
shane had another 5 minutes to play lol!
A quality finish is KING, so Shane for the win this time. Louis may have been set up to lose with the pool float though. No matter what they both learned from the race and had fun!
you are correct but people are forgetting that Shane was practically engaged for almost 5 minutes! Just go through the timeline and you'll see that Luis stopped at the one minute mark and shane kept going throughout the video! Obviously it's not a great big issue but if we keep it fair Luis would have crushed it with another 4 minutes😁
Love the Video. Simply like everything about it ! Great JOB !!
Great job guys good teamwork.
First time seen pump unit like that , how cool , concrete got be wet to pump .
You seem to be a fun bunch to work with.
Looking forward to seeing how you get the concrete into all those areas without any over spill
Pretty sure you will do it with ease though 👍
Your Eric is always hungry, too 😂😂😂
The COMRADERIE 💯✌🏾
Great job team. 💕👏👍 Looks like wetting up that bad mix made it take a lot longer to bleed, that and the super saturated ground. Such is life right!?

EASY MONEY 💰👍
Using 1x4 form boards on at least the short sidewalk sections would make it easier to wreck those forms when you’re ready. Save money too. Just gotta make sure you stake them good.
That mud almost looked like it was hot. If you had the truck spin up n mix it good and still got that, I would have sent that back.
Your mud was bleeding so much because you were sucking up that ground water. Could have maid down some polygon prevent that. Gotta be careful with that much water on top. You don’t want to finish it with that water in the top layer or the surface will be weak and the finish could dust. Did good by waiting and not getting on it too quick tho. You’ve got a good crew.
Great work , looks great
Thanks 👍
nice job to everyone. We liked see everyone work hard and do quality work. The contrast between the stones and cement looks great when wet.
was waiting on this video!! yayaaa! Good work odell!!! Love the videos ! Ive ben trying to get my landscaping companys youtube going ! Wish me luck my friend!
Best of luck! I’ll be watching!
I really liked this 2 part. I do think you should change your code for your cell. As a team there was a large amount of laughter. That’s a great work environment, sign of a well rounded boss. 👍
They could’ve adjusted the mix with a bit more accelerators to make up for the saturated soil.
Did he say "a huevo"....?
✌🏾💯
This is a tight CREW.
💯✌🏾
nice job.
You should have suggested he put the rock also on the outside edges.
Some cold Coca-Cola's and cheese bread on Concrete day sounds delicious
Greetings from Southern California
The Masonry Company
Great closeups of everything! Turned out fantastic!
Thats a nice job, very organised!
Absolutely perfection and so stunning…A++ work!!
Great job Tim as always #1 in Cali.. AHUEVO!!
Shane and Louis both did an outstanding job. That pay should be split in two and given to them.
Yeah that sounds like a fair deal to me
Man that came out looking REALLY cool!!
Its really cool to see your teams comradery.
Wow awesome job guys ❤
awesome work. you are very skilled.
LOOKS AWESOME
So glad you were able to pour after that mess with the pool water! Also, I like the idea of using that slogan you came up with. With your logo and a brush with a long pole. lol Maybe do a contest!! Love your team as well! Good job 👍
Very nice job. ty
Patient and virtuous 👌🏾💯
Nice Tim I like the look. You know I might consider black rock for my home in the backyard.
Black Rock, Rocks
Thank you
Nice job guys.....
Very cool look!!
I like the paint id idea.
Got to love Latinos with the team. Viva las Mexico
Looks super nice, would never fly up north where i am to much snow removal to do 😉
Nothing brings the cream up like a good piece of wood I actually prefer a wooden float over a mag that’s what I use😮
Great Job well done.
Thank you very much!
The guero had the nicer finish for sure.
anyone else think Shane looks a lot like Frank Zappa?
Looks like an ex skater that was forced to get a job lol 😂
Studebaker Hawk
Looks good wet but dry it looks off. Was way too wet.
Good work fellas broooom it
TY
When you are working like that, you could have pizza flavored dirt, and you would think it was wonderful. I spent over 50 years in the trades, so I have some experience.
To wet... for time of year... for your area...I guess... JJ...😊
Are there any products/glues that will sort of adhere the decorative rocks in place for areas like the driveway? Looks really great!
Awesome job on the driveway, walkway and patio. Quick question, I absolutely hate broom finish concrete. I've worked in auto repair, so it's been concrete floors metal trowel finish and sealed. very rarely did the floors get slippery when wet or covered in oil. Might have been the type of work boots I wore. My question is do concrete finishers still use wooden trowels to finish driveways and walkways? The house I own (built in 1984) has wooden trowel finished concrete and some things I like about it is, ease of keeping it swept off. Broom finished seems to hold dirt and concrete dust. wooden trowel finished concrete also seems to be sealed a little better than broom finish also, but not like metal trowel finished.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job guys! Have you ever turned up in the morning before a pour and found anything seriously wrong like vandalism etc?
I'd totally work for you if I lived in your state. I'd love to learn a new skill as a finisher. Only thing is I have 0 experience but I'm definitely willing to learn
id love to move back out to cali and come work with you guys, I lived in burbank for 2 years but wasnt much work
Shane for sure . Anyone can go fast but at the end of the day what are you worried about on your company name ? Fast or quality? I've done concrete my whole life and my father was one of the best finishers around this my area so I've done alot of this work . Peace !
Eassyyyyy money😁😁😁
Hard working dudes (craftsmen) having fun at it, keep up the great content, by the way next time dump the Little Caesars and get the guys Tommy's chili burgers!! Cheers....
Yeah maybe on the next pour 🤙 appreciate it though!
Any update on recovering your expenses from the flooding from last episode? Great channel!
Nice. What did you put on black rock to keep it in place some sort of epoxy?
Get the crazy bread EXTRA CRAZY..... You'll thank me later.
I buy the square trowel and cut them round on the end... but I do drywall with mine. Cheers! next time add a little paint thinner to the oil.
Great idea
Shane finished better. Nice job guys.
Ya lost me at the Fresno.. yeah it fast and a lot easier but will Spauld , mag and trowel and dem knees , especially with all that water coming up
You run a good show/ship over there
I thought you don't want to touch it at all once bleed water is on the surface? Like you want to be done screeding and floating at that point? Or is it more of that's an ideal world which isn't really possible?
Finish looks rough to me great concept
Hey Odell, can you do a concrete vs paver I wanna know your opinion
You need to get mud from Benders Ready Mix.Much better product.Their 3000 psi looks like a 3500 psi.
Yeah we use to use them all the time
Here in KC 3500 PSI is normal for driveways give or take ,I had 5000 PSI on my driveway back in 2003 .
Intense
