  • There's a reason why Hooker Valley Track in Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park is constantly voted New Zealand's Best Day Walk.
    This 3 hour return track is a sight to behold. This easy grade track sees you follow the mighty Hooker River, across 3 swing bridges, surrounded on all sides by enormous mountains on your way to Hooker Lake and Hooker Glacier. This track is an absolute must and should be on everyone's list if you find yourself in the South Island of New Zealand.
    Always check The Department of Conservation (DOC) website before you visit to ensure there are no weather warnings on the walk. This is an alpine grade walk, so it should always be treated with care during the colder months.
    Hope you enjoy the video and find it useful when doing the walk yourself.

      Thanks mate😊 Yeah winter is an absolutely beautiful time to visit that's for sure. Glad you got to at least experience and enjoy it in September🙏

      @helendrysdale6339 That's epic! We were unlucky to not see one this time.

    It's a wonderful video with good commentary. Good camera angles. What time of the day was the hike done ? Are snow chains required to get to the car park ?

      Thanks heaps, we appreciate that😊👌 We started the walk at 10am (ish) and finished back to the car at 1230. Nah there's no need for snow chains. Just take your time and you'll be fine. Mainly just look out for any black ice, they usually have signs up when black ice is present. We went down when the weather was -9 and we still didn't see any ice.

    Video of all time. I have a question: have you applied for permission to fly a drone? It's not criticism, just curiosity.

    • @TheNZBrits
      @TheNZBrits  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey mate, nah we haven't applied for permission, heard they're nearly impossible to get granted. Would bring out some killer content if we were allowed😎 Some places you don't need permission though, which helps I guess🤣

      @@TheNZBrits Thank you for your quick response. I also have the experience that it is not easy to get permission to fly a drone in New Zealand and certainly not in the National Parks.

    Please don’t encourage people to walk on the Lake. There’s been a few broken bones this year from people doing this. It wastes a lot of resources getting people to Timaru hospital. We were watching that day from high above on the ridge shaking our heads.

      @paulred158 As we said in the video, we don't advise it. We were there, the Ice was super thick and we had fun with everyone else😊 accidents will happen and you're 100% right about the wastage of resources, but people will be people.
