Walking the Kaikoura Peninsula Track || EPISODE 10
For once we were blessed with clear sunny skies, so we decided to walk the beautiful Kaikoura Peninsula Track. This easy grade, 3km loop track will have crystal clear blue seas to one side of you and the pristine Southern Alps on the other. With an abundance of marine life, rock pools, fossil hunting, and rarer marine mammals all on the list. It's a must-do track to take the whole family on if you find yourself with a little time to spare in Kaikoura. Hope you enjoy the video.

      Hey mate, nah we haven't applied for permission, heard they're nearly impossible to get granted. Would bring out some killer content if we were allowed😎 Some places you don't need permission though, which helps I guess🤣

      @@TheNZBrits Thank you for your quick response. I also have the experience that it is not easy to get permission to fly a drone in New Zealand and certainly not in the National Parks.

    Please don’t encourage people to walk on the Lake. There’s been a few broken bones this year from people doing this. It wastes a lot of resources getting people to Timaru hospital. We were watching that day from high above on the ridge shaking our heads.

      @paulred158 As we said in the video, we don't advise it. We were there, the Ice was super thick and we had fun with everyone else😊 accidents will happen and you're 100% right about the wastage of resources, but people will be people.

      Thanks heaps, we appreciate that😊👌 We started the walk at 10am (ish) and finished back to the car at 1230. Nah there's no need for snow chains. Just take your time and you'll be fine. Mainly just look out for any black ice, they usually have signs up when black ice is present. We went down when the weather was -9 and we still didn't see any ice.

      Hooker Valley and Hooker Glacier were named by Sir Julius von Haast (Canterbury provincial geologist in the 1860s) after William Jackson Hooker, an English Botanist. Return the way you came. Hooker Valley Track is the most popular short walk in Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. Credit: Nelsontrails.co.nz

      @rwilletts67 If you google search fantail falls and you're coming from wanaka end of Haast Pass. The entrance to the Chasm is exactly 2 minutes from fantail falls. You'll notice a small river with a bridge named "Wilson creek". Just pull over in one of the laybys and walk into the groge via the river.

      Yeah bro we were just as surprised. Everytime we go there it's a shooting fest🤣 This time we think they were at higher altitudes, and unfortunately all the roads up were mud baths so couldn't even get the ute up there.🤦

      As Lauren said it's not a big deal because we can come back, just a shame for those who can't. We asked if they had staffing issues and they said no. Who's complaining about the rainfall? Lol🤔 The rain was epic and exactly what we were after.👌

      Hey boss, I actually got these socks when I was in the military. These ones are the standard issue pairs. However I've been told you can buy something similar from hunting and fishing. If you punch in 'Goretex socks' into google, they're bound to pop up. 🤙
