    Ahhhh Mount Cook National park - what a bloody beautiful part of New Zealand. While it's not necessarily considered a Mt Cook hike, we've done the Hooker Valley Track in summer, so decided this time on taking the walk again in winter to see the difference. It might not be THE best walk in New Zealand, but tell ya what, it's our favourite!
    The Hooker Valley Track Walk is the most popular walk in the Aoraki Mount Cook National park for good reason. There's a really cool mix of terrain, it follows a massive flowing river, crosses multiple bridges and everyone on the track just always seems so friendly and welcoming.
    The hike itself is 5km each way, ending at the Hooker Lake with views up to Mt Cook, which is the highest mountain in New Zealand at 3,724 metres.
    Quick note: the drone video featured in this video from inside Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and the Hooker Valley Walk is all stock footage and not captured by us.
    Reveal NZ is a 20+ part video series, so make sure you're subscribed to follow along with all episodes here: goo.gl/SWdJQH More than just taking a motorhome around New Zealand, it's about how to travel New Zealand, the top tourist spots, the hidden local gems, incredible day trips, extreme activities, amazing accommodation and a spot of wining and dining... It's about making you feel like you're along for the travels with us, so grab a drink of your poison, sit back and get ready for 5 weeks driving in a campervan hire from Auckland to The Catlins.

    Can't say it enough...awesome video. I was basically mesmerized about the 10:00 mark. Your slow mo capture and ethereal music was magic. Not wanting the camper van series to end. Really enjoying it.

    Again, this is bringing back memories. I did not have as much luck doing the Hooker Valley Track though - I got totally drenched. It was pouring rain from start to finish. I actually had two nights in Twizel so could have come back the next day to do the hike again, but the next day it rained so heavily that I didn‘t even leave my B&B. This was the day in late March 2019 when it rained so heavily on the west coast that the bridge over the Waiho river on SH6 south of Franz Josef got washed away and Arthur‘s Pass was closed due to landslides. So lucky that I passed through Franz Josef and Fox a week earlier!
    Your video of the Hooker Valley Track convinced me once more that when the pandemic is over my next trip should be revisiting New Zealand - and hopefully doing that walk in dry weather! Looking forward to the next episode - Oamaru, the Moeraki boulders and Dunedin are already on my itinerary for my next trip.

      Isn’t January summer in NZ? But it has more ice and snow than in winter? Not mocking, just amazed. Have got a trip coming up in end Aug and that’s what brought me Tipton this video. Kinda trying to gauge what to expect!

    I definitely enjoyed having a certain level of flexibility when we were in NZ and would definitely do it the same way again. We went in the high season as well, but didn't struggle to find places to stay, even when we were only booking them a night or two in advance.

    Hi Dane and Stacey.
    I actually stumbled upon your videos last week just before we were heading to the South Islands and I really love your content. Unfortunately I am back in Auckland now.
    There are just so many places to stop and just enjoy the scenery. I wanted to take my drone with me to see if I could get some really amazing shots of the lands and lakes but doing research online about all the rules, laws and comments, a lot people discourage the use of drones there and it kind of put me off so I didn't take it in the end.
    In your videos I see that you have a lot of really beautiful drone shots, I wonder what are the things that you have to do to be able to fly there? Thanks

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! We often use stock drone footage (that's what we did in this video) or if we're working with a tourism board or brand we will ask for supplied footage, especially when it comes to DOC land as there are so many rules & regulations. It is possible to apply for a permit ahead of time, but we often moved spontaneously and didn't have the time to plan ahead.

    • @bellwang5368
      @bellwang5368 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanegerAndStacey Thanks for the insight Dane and Stacey.
      I love flying my drone, there are just so many incredible aerial shots you can't get any other way. But you are right, too many regulations now, especially in NZ, I am afraid to fly it anywhere.
      You and Stacey have such pleasant personalities, I hope I would be able to bump into you guys and meet you in person in one of your future trips. :)

      We have to admit, it actually got too hot in the end 😂 It doesn't uuuuusually get down to the negatives where we live in Auckland (maybe in the early morning in winter) but in the South Island it does.
