I numbered all the boxes in the Vic senate election but messed up halfway through on my first ballot. I went to get a replacement and the vec person wouldn't give it to me, but I remembered your wise words and (nicely) bullied them into giving me another one and voiding the first. 😅

As a New South Welshman, thank you :') it's quite difficult to start learning how to vote especially because there is so much info and it tends to be biased. I really appreciate your unbiased explanations about the PROCESS in a very digestible way!

Thank you for this wonderful video! Sadly I cannot vote in this election as I turn 18 in Sep, so I will unfortunately miss it by 6 months 🥲 But nonetheless, thank you as always for being our number one AusPol channel!!!

I think you can still register to vote from the age of 16 in any election. I could be wrong but can't hurt to check.

Hi community! Please also watch this bloke’s fantastic unbiased video on libs vs labour… spoiler if you can’t be bothered, labour has performed better and been the lesser of the 2 evils. Better still remember that we don’t need to vote for either of these 2. Greens and independents are also eligible for votes and promote vastly different alternatives to the mainstream narratives. Together we can change the running of our nation, however voting the same as always, the same our parents did, expect little change and a further slipping down the poo chute;-)

Hear, Hear, I second this. Even if you don't like politics a cursory glance at a couple of videos will help you decide which party or person you like or don't like, then vote depending on these facts, and what you stand for.

    Optional preferential voting:
What on earth is wrong with NSW? I grew up and lived for decades in NSW and voted under a preferential ballot, then I moved to Canada where they have a crude First Past the Post ballot. Here you are only allowed to mark one [X] in a box and you're done. Nobody cares about your other preferences. I've seen seats won with just 32% of the votes of their constituents - in other words, the winning candidate was opposed by ~2/3 of the voters! By allowing an optional single preference [1] vote, NSW is inviting the same thing if enough people vote this way. Under a full preferential vote, nobody can win a seat unless they are supported by the majority (50%+1) of its voters - as it should be IMHO.
To me 'optional' preferential ballots represent a disgraceful rollback of electoral democracy in NSW.
I don't know how long this has been allowed, but my suspicion is that it was likely motivated by self-serving political parties like those up here hope hope to benefit by distorting election results.
    Truly disappointing.
