Good thing you caught the broken timing chain components. The timing chain is bound to fail, only a matter of time! Great video

Yes, thank you. Unfortunately, it’s a common issue on the N20 engine.

For anyone else doing this, there’s a T27 that you need to remove the bolt connecting the front liner to the subframe in order to drop the rear portion of the front subframe to get the access you need to get the pan out.

I would also recommend completely removing the charge pipe for access to the left engine support arm bolts

Very efficient and best instructions I ever seen from these models. Thanks

Thanks for the video; You should include assembly too, which as important as disassemble + include torque specs to put back everything as before. What did happen for chain guide and is there a video how you did replace it?

Absolutely. Thank you for pointing that out. I will work on that on the upcoming videos.

The engine support arm you removed at 11:24 I can’t get to the two top bolts, the pipe is in the way at the top? Did you remove that pipe to reinstall? If so do you know what the pipe is called

Do you mean the two black hoses that are attached together?

    • @xQwarl

@@all-about-cars-basicsthe single black hose above it with the silver/metal torx fixing. It’s blocking top two bolts on left engine support arm. I don’t know what the line transports but I’m doing this on a manual RWD RHD N20 and looks like I’ll have to remove it for access? Please advise

@@xQwarl I did not remove the hose. I used a shorter tool to access the bolt.

How much do usually you charge for this type of repair? (Just labor)

How much cost for the parts and labor

It will vary from one Auto shop to another. But should be in the range of around $1000 to $1500.

What vehicle did you get the towing eye for the engine lift?

I have Mercedes E220D, 2017 W213, I have a problem that the fan would still be running on max. speed for a 1.5 minutes after killing the engine. Knowing that the engine is Model 654. I have relaced the following parts: Fan, Turmos, Water pump, water back feed line. All original parts but the problem is still on. Also no fault found, could you please help me troubleshooting the problem?
    THANKS ALOT.

If it is just for 1.5 minutes, I would not really be concerned. That is normal in some cars. But if it is longer than that then I will be concerned.

good stuff on checking everything but for my truck it was a temperature sensor that would leave the fan running but like he said it’s really not that bad for them to stay on for 1.5 minutes

Most non xDrive cars with N20 (328i) have a plastic oil pan. And yes, this is not an xdrive car.
