Dear hair, we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, you’ve seen as I saw and felt more than I’ve felt. You hold all my thoughts all my emotions a lot of my/and others energy. You were my first lesson in self-care, you opened my eyes &it caused me to strip myself of all the lye. You are what has bonded me and my grandmothers, my mother and father. You have been a way for me to express my creativity and share my love for me and those who look like me. 6 years no heat and whole lotta lessons in between. Time to embark on a new journey. I love you, I am connected to you but I am not you.

I shaved my waist- length natural hair off after escaping an abusive relationship. It was a very emotional experience . It’s bravery and a chance for a new start. I do miss my hair but l know it will come back with time. This is beautiful.

Dominique Dacres dido it’s awesome that we can as black women look great with short and long. For instance Halle looks better with short hair then long. So long isn’t always better. My mom would have killed me if I cut so much an inch and that’s just old school thinking you look great. Now next time get a professional😘

Your friend needs to be a motivational speaker. She was SOOO supportive. I big chopped in February of last year and it was amazing. I’m currently on a growth journey until August 28th 2019 (my 21st birthday) and I’m cutting it allllll off again and I can’t wait 😍. It looks wonderful on you and your face is so beautiful ❣️

OMG, i’ve been natural for 5 years my hair is very similar texture to yours but i just want it gone. Everyone is criticizing me about doing it because they say “people wish to have hair like you” but i’ve been going through a lot of inner term oil and i feel like chopping my hair is a step to my healing process. I’ve been following you on Instagram just inspired and had no idea you have youtube lol but Anyway i love that you inserted a clip of yourself cutting your hair and getting emotional. it made me realize that i AM ready to do it because i didn’t want to face the fact that i would get all worked up over cutting it even though i know it’s what i want. I am so proud of you because when I was your age I was too caught up in what everyone thought was cute and I felt like I couldn't be free now that I'm 30 I just did my big chop and my second time around going natural and you have to get your expression out whatever it is that is black women have with our hair out you know don't worry about what looks good to black men and I'm proud that you didn't even look at it like that that you not try being what everybody wants you to be 🏋️♂️💪

Hi Ny, I just found your videos after looking up TWA. I was specifically looking for someone who had cut their hair after being natural for some time at a similar length. I feel like your reasons for cutting your hair are similar to why I'd like to do it as well. Watching this video is a semi-confirmation because I recently turned 21 and have had my hair natural since 10th grade too! So I just wanted to say thanks and that I'll continue to look to your videos for inspiration.
I wasn’t even looking for a hair journey video but this popped up and I just cut my natural hair after 6 years this past feb lol. I had a little bit of heat damage on my ends but I also wondered how I would look with short hair so I just cut it randomly one night. It’s been a process already but I’m just now starting to like it kind of lol. Anyways I love your personality and glad I came across this vid.
