    What's a bit sloppy about this scene is that calling her Starbuck is in no way a giveaway. She's supposed to be in a resistance hospital, with Anders and Helo probably around somewhere, plus plenty of other people that heard Helo call her Starbuck. The doctor could've easily overheard it, and called her Starbuck for a bit of extra patient rapport.

    • @Gwydion_Wolf
      @Gwydion_Wolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It's a giveaway when none of those people who know her ever come to visit. The only person she talks to is the doctor, the only one she sees is the doctor, and she had no personal identification on her. The only way that doctor (to her mind) would know her callsign is if he was either with the resistance (in which case 'someone' would have come to see her), or a Cylon that knew of her.

    • @TheBooban
      @TheBooban ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheBooban Well, that wasn't the only hint. What this vid also cut out was that after Starbuck pinched the IV, she snuck out and caught Simon talking to a number Six and THAT was the big giveaway. Don't know why they cut that scene out of this video.

  • @MaraIndigoJade
    @MaraIndigoJade 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Ok, One...in the state she was in and as delirious she was, how does she know she didn't tell them what her call-sign was when they brought her in? She obviously didn't know where/when/who, so she probably wasn't coherent when she was brought in...but she knows she didn't tell anyone her call-sign? And if they were supposed to be 'Resistance', then they would probably have asked or known her call-sign.
    Two...no Centurions around guarding the place? Just using keys to lock doors? Why even bother with keys? They had control of the planet by this point (well, except for the Resistance), which you would figure, if this was an important operation involving child-baring women, as it appears to be, no defensive measures taken by the Cylons?
    Three...she was there for a while and they just >happen< to attack the same day she escapes? Convenient plot device is convenient. And who the hell shot Simon from >that far away

    • @shoulderpyro
      @shoulderpyro 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @jeffburnham6611
      @jeffburnham6611 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure if she ever told anyone her call sign. The Resistance knew she and Helo were Viper pilots since they encountered them first when they were still wearing their jock smocks. An unknown aid station probably wouldnt have known she was a pilot since she wasnt dressed as one when she was brought in. I dont think her dogtags wouldve identified her as a Viper pilot either.

      It's because it was a badly written show, I mean it's just our civilization, our technology level, they have our cars and guns, they even smoke. The only difference is there's star ships and robots, it makes no sense, the colonies were super advanced before the fall.
      But I bet that saved lots of money in production costs.

    • @AGH331
      @AGH331 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@MDLi0n Much to the contrary, it's extremely realistic. Technological levels aren't the same across an entire civilisation - today we have spaceships travelling to Mars while there are people living in slums without running water, we have hospitals performing robotic surgery and hospitals that don't even have an X-ray, we have people driving self-driving Teslas and others driving old timers from the 1950s. I'm writing this on a MacBook, that is sitting next to a stack of pencils.
      Any sci-fi that portrays a completely even level of technology across all cultures and classes is completely unrealistic. And if you understood anything about plasma and laser weapons, you'd realise that they are completely unrealistic as small arms.
      The Expanse, another sci-fi show widely lauded for its realism, is just the same. Normal guns, cars, some people living in old farm houses ...

    • @AGH331
      @AGH331 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The Cylons gave up the colonies and left for good, and the resistance was evacuated. I assume that some small groups or single individuals may have survived in places shielded from radiation, like cave systems or bunkers, but overall the colonies were left behind by both cylons and humans.

    • @heyguyswhatshappening6210
      @heyguyswhatshappening6210 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Very true !! i would ask the writers if they would consider going primitive in today's modern world. There was no chance in hell that humans would give up thousands of years of technological advancement and all the knowledge that has been accumulated in science just to be stranded on a world and start from scratch and that we would hold no hard feelings towards the robots considering they killed 50 billion humans !! haaa !!!

    • @Negativvv
      @Negativvv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BSG ending was a quiet "meh" whereas GoT was more like "lel wtf" or "TRASH!". Colony battle was nice but also stupidly illogical, either the front door would have had better weapons covering it or not at all since it was literally years away from the 12 colonies. BSG narrative was stupid yes as they had a "fresh start" from finding paradise Earth, no need to go full failure mode and throw all that nice technology in the bin. The Colonials wouldn't have lasted long with zero provisions and zero tech, like most of us wouldn't if we were dropped into the wilderness.

    • @MDLi0n
      @MDLi0n 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole show was just bad in my opinion.
      The colonies were very advanced, far more advanced than we are today. Technologically superior and an ancient culture who had fought several interplanetary wars.
      What you see on screen is us with spaceships and robots.
      They shot guns we use, they drive cars like we drive, they even smoke.
      It's just badly written with zero effort to portray an advanced society, if you remove the space battle's and the robot scene's you'd have a drama set on earth and modern humans and that's basically what it is.
      That's what put me off all those years ago. The original series did a better job telling the story in the 70s, they actually felt like a different culture with a more advanced society and it actually made sense.
      The one thing I did like was the idea of repeated cycle's of humans creating cylons and cylons becoming 'human' and creating cylon slaves and the uprising, rebellion and wars that kept happening. That was interesting.
