    I do love this scene. Baltar is not a brave man. it may even be fair to call him a coward. but boy, does he have a well developed survival instinct. Whatever it takes for HIM to survive, he will generally do it in the moment.

    Wait even if the two Cylons stayed at the dish why not attack the dish? You would have less Cylons to fight and have them out numbered. All you would need to do is take out the 2 Plus the Dish. Or just the Dish then fall back to a defendable position till the Raptors Arrive. You don't need to go after the launcher at all. Why did they? And yes I know Crash Down has gone section 8 but still?

    The LT was stupid. He should have known that the Raptors would be able to detect a missile launch, deploy countermeasures, and take out the launcher a lot more efficiently than his ragtag squad could have. It's not like the Raptors didn't know there were Cylons on the surface when they launched from Galactica. They would have had a plan already.

      @@DefiantSix While he mostly doesn't seem too bad, after the raptor crashes on Kobol he makes several bad decisions. Hindsight is amazing, but I like the type of storytelling exploring someone who isn't bad, just somewhat incompetent in a difficult situation with hard choices. No one really knows if they are ready for a situation like this until it happens, and he seems to have had decent training. They sure aren't a commando squad with proper preparation for this. The way he ultimately pays for it with his life makes me feel a bit sorry for him.

      it was a much better plan. That is what they do in the end - Galen leads them on a mad dash back to the dish (under fire due to the idiotic Lt) and they manage to take it out. 1km is not a huge distance to cover

    • @shepherdlavellen3301

      Depends on how long it takes for Raptor to enter SAM firing range. 1 km takes 5 minutes to run, not to mention rough terrain, injuries, equipment, potential cylon threats. Also the missile, if it has a detector on its own like infrared or radar then even if the radar dish is taken out the raptor will still be shot down

      @davew6949 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It 'could have' gone on 10 more years, but with that, there's always a major risk. X-files is kind of an example of what happens when a show goes on and on. The good writers get lost, replaced by poorer writers, network/corporate interference screws things up, etc.
      If you'd ever read the Sandman series by Neil Gaiman, he illustrated a different reason for ending a good series. He'd fallen out of love with it, and didn't want to drag down the good narrative with problematic add-ons. He chose to end the series instead, and move on to other things that he'd developed love for.
      BSG 2003 probably ended as well as it could have done, and we have 4 excellent seasons of it to enjoy.
