Glad Troy and Dave were finally able to get the Subaru back together and running. Looks like it was successful since the hood was down. Must be a huge relief after all of the drama with the car.
I saw a Banks short on why you need that correction controller on their AirRam intakes... The intake being larger means that you get lower velocity of the air going past the sensor which throws its readings off and can cause an engine management light + limp condition. To combat this, most manufacturers add a velocity stack into the intake which reduces the internal volume but solves the MAF value correction problem. Instead of doing this, Gale and his team created the MAF correction device so that it sits inline and pulls the readings off the MAF, corrects the values to make sure they're being reported back correctly then feeds them to the ECM, meaning you can have far bigger intakes and not have problems with the MAF failing to pull accurate numbers. Clever stuff :)
Its funny but the same idea they've done on the rearend cover can be done on a transmission bottom plate as well as an oil pan Forcing the air around the unit helps remove heat better, less heat less friction cooler working componets longer life becuse it has less stress on it. Plus they just look cool. I see a lot of stuff aimed at trucks, be nice to see it aimed at cars also. But honestly I havnt looked. But with trucks of you can add hp you can also get better gas mileage And lower emmisions. Most factory intakes muf the sound.
@@michaelpressman7203 ouch To somewhat be expected though because of how modern motors are designed. Their ECMs expect specific parameters and they throw codes if just one of those parameters is out of acceptable bounds. Especially for MAF, MAP, EGT and O2
I've never used lube on Intercooler boots. I use cheap hairspray. It lubes the boot long enough to slide it in place. As the alcohol evaporates, it leave a lacquer behind the helps glue the boots in place reducing the chance of blowing them off. This also works on replacing cycle grips and even golf club grips.
Good to see in a relatively short period of time your business has done so well you could afford more employees. The Banks cold air intake is well engineered design in comparison to some vehicles you worked on,where I asked what where they thinking.Hope you feel better Have a great weekend
Where you at bro? Two days no video day, we need 2 videos per day... 1-morning & 1-evening would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! That way I can watch during breakfast and during supper!😁🙂😄
MOAR UPGRADE VIDEOS!!!1!11! Seriously, these are cool. The diagnostic videos are great, but this is a nice wrinkle to the norm. Keep up the great work!
A trick I have learned when dealing with these silicone boots is to spray it all with 409 cleaner. It acts like an assembly lube and makes thing easier to assemble and when it dries make the boost stick to the pipes and other things very well.
those wire clips are quick connect, so you put them in the grooves, as you slide it on it rides the angle of the connector which spreads the clips open then it snaps into place when it hits the groove. 15:24
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!" Yeah, some of us are just "slightly" older than Ray and his ever-growing number of subscribers.
The air control adapter thingy is so it reads air flow correctly with the new diameter of the pipe. Otherwise it will read less air than in reality and you'll run lean.
I work 6 days a week and just found time to check these out to the end. Love the work and I’m so excited to see the end results with everything installed. Please take care of your health, things that harm one’s health can sneak up on ya and activate body gravity. Looking forward to the end results.
hope you get to feeling better and don't have the crud. I'm looking forward to your intercooler install as I also have '20 high country duramax with the Banks Ram Air, Derringer, Pedal Monster, Differ Cover and dpf back ehaust upgrade already. I've ordered the intercooler tubes and should be here later this week. Can't wait to see the results on your project. Keep up the great vids! They're a daily staple for me.
Ray should be rest assured that if he should ever (God forbid) lose functionality in his right arm his livelihood will not be affected. Left hand power! 👊🏼💪🏼😂😂
Ray, your health is your #1 priority. You may not feel it now, but when you are60 ,all the abuse you subjected your body to will hit you with a vengeance. Trust me, if I knew what would happen to me 40 years ago, I would have done many things differently. But enough of that, it seems like your shop has become the unofficial Banks installation center! Can't wait to see the rest of the install !!
Up here in the north its starting to be allergies season , I have to remember to take allergy pills our Ill be suffering . I hope you feel better, and good job on the Subaru guys 👍👍👍
Hope you ended up feeling ok. The day I watched this video my family members started to be ill one-by-one each day until we were all home sick over the weekend. But all back at it by Monday. Happens.
Nice show Ray, that airbox seal was definitely off centre causing your airbox tilt, suspect it fits to something but couldn't see how? Anyway looking forward to the rest of the upgrades and accessories. I do like that Amsoil I have put it in my LAND ROVER Discovery 4. The engine has never ran so smooth 😎
I suspect that tightening the one screw at the front of the box could have created enough of an angle to throw thge geometry off for the back screws. WHen he snugged up two screws that probably made things even worse. The rubber gasket is pretty thick and the more it is compressed on the front the more force it will take to push the back end down enough to line up the screws on the back.
One thing that make Ray one of the coolest guys around is the fact he will install parts that the person supplied . Nobody around here does that at all ( North West Florida ) that I can find . They say " Well , we need to buy the stuff so it is warrantied " . I junked a car because they wouldn't use my parts . LOL I made some money from the car and the parts and they made nothing .
Nice looking make-over so far Ray. That intake sensor in-line widget in the cable extension may very well be a simple recalibration of the OEM sensor scale so that the car computer does not have to jump through hoops, or need parameters altered to correctly figure mixture and so forth.
Greetings and Happy Holidays. I really enjoy and appreciate all of the content that you create and publish on TH-cam. At 14:12 in this video, there is a cut edit in which you swapped the straight cold side upper sleeve for the shorter hump sleeve. I am having a helluva time getting the cold side kit to fit on my 2024 duramax and have called Banks several times, specifically to address the upper straight sleeve which appears to be too long and makes it impossible to complete the cold side install per Banks' instructions. I'd sure appreciate any comments you might have on your experience with the cold side piping and specifically on why you ended up installing hump sleeves top and bottom. Thanks again for all of the great content.
Banks parts are good if you're worried about being emissions compliant. My newest newest vehicle is 30 years old, so all it needs to roll down the road is a registration and insurance.
I have a pedal monster, stand alone so I can keep my forscan on my 2013 F150. Absolutely love it. I can only imagine what all those Banks. goodies will do to that! So when are you upgrading your silvaraaaadooo?
Nice stuff! My boss has a 2021 Duramax crew cab only has 18k miles dealer told him any after after market stuff voids the warranty he took it in for service and had Banks book on the seat they were sure to tell him about the warranty Lol
Not a Banks fan. If you really want OMG power, Delete, Tune, straight pipe and high flow injectors. If you still want more, bolt a bigger turbo on. Banks makes nice stuff, better than OEM. I think most people think it will turn their truck into a monster, It wont. Doing what I mentioned above will. I do have the K&N oil filter. I might throw that away. It is a PITA to clean on a diesel. Spent 30 minutes picking dead bugs out of the folds. Gas versions have much smaller folds. I also kept all my original parts.
