Something I noticed: Samurai Jin swipes his sword to get rid of the blood after a battle. Ghost Jin doesn’t. They called him “dishonorable”, so that visual storytelling is just incredible.
There's not even an animation for picking up plants and you thought you could pet a fox!?😂 Edit: could be part of a side mission not something you can always do.

The movement/action of flicking the blood of the blade even had it’s own name. ”Chiburui” / ”Shaking off the blood” Note: There are also multiple ways of performing the Chiburui. (You can even do it whilst ”still holding the Katana with both hands” AKA. Still be Combat ready •Spin the handle around like a screw(360) (Still ”holding” on with the back hand) •Then hit the handle with your other hand (Hand closest to the Guard) (Closed fist, downwards. Like you are banging on a table.) This way you are still ready to attack if need be. And still have the Blade be pointed infront of you./ahead of you. Towards the fallen oponent. (Edit: Removal of the blood is important. To keep the blade from rusting etc. The blade is usually also treated with oils and powders. If I’m not mistaken Perhaps the powder-appliance is more a cermonial thing. I can’t remember right now tho) :)
I just started watching and I had to stop the vid at the wind waypoint thing, it's just too good to not talk about it, it's such a smart way of showing where you have to go without breaking the immersion by looking at some dots or a line on the minimap, and it makes the world look better by making flowers, grass and trees move. anyway, this blew my mind and I'm looking forward to the rest of the vid. Edit: I have watched the rest of the vid, already goty for me lol, I've been waiting for a game like this for a looong time.
Cyberpunks Witcher it’s basically 2020 version of tenchu, if they had the tech back in ps1 this game would’ve already been made. AC didn’t start this stealth/fighting trend
The music....I can’t get over the music. It sounds like the music is playing along with your game play like when kill someone the music jumps up in alert and them calm downs.
Bumper its like spiderman ps4 when youre walking it quiets down but when you start to run it slowly builds up but when you build up momentum fast and start swinging aggressively then the music kicks up way faster and much more intense, sony exclusives pay so much more attention to detail and convenience
Wow, that's the most impressive gameplay demo I've seen in a long time. Highlight for me: the differences between the types of combat, and the realistic nature of the swordplay (no hack and slash nonsense). Also, magic foxo!
Would be cool if they had a "ronin" playstyle that involved offensive katana gameplay like quick-draw strikes and stuff. Would be a cool trio of defensive, offensive and stealth combat.
I actually see it the other way around, having a background in historical fencing helps me see the nuances of the fighting, it's not realistic by any means, its theatrical. Look the "samurai style" fight again, every blow is exaggerated, with so much weight behind it, and the pauses between each killing blow, all of that comes straight out of samurai cinema, and I fucking love it.
Talk about giving up...Microsoft all but abandoned the Xbox X - slashing the price in half while Sony is still selling their consoles for full price 400 dollars retail. This is the time where Microsoft could show the true power of the Xbox X but they have no games for it lmao.
MC hasn't given up on the One X and there's games that take advantage of its potential properly. I am curious what the "bang" that Sony had for the end of the PS3 era. Both platforms have great games.

Cinematic trash needs to go. It has been plaguing most modern games, taking away control from players and reducing locations to mere set pieces, combat to scripted encounter...
Microsoft gave Ubisoft money to kind of be able to use assassin's Creed Valhalla to promote Xbox and to have it on the game pass and probably the streaming thing Microsoft is doing. It's a wonder Ubisoft didn't let them have it for a year exclusive to Xbox. I wouldn't care since PlayStation games are pretty damn good.

Visuals and music really look and sound like a samurai's film, i already loved the setting from the get go. The customisation intrigues me, how you change the gameplay based on the armor and such sounds really cool. The exploration aspects sounds very interesting too, how you are guided by the wind, and the fact that birds and foxes take to certain unmapped locations. So far what they showed convinced me to give it a shot

Personally I have really high Hope's for this game. I feel like its something we haven't gotten for a long time. Me personally I've wanted a game like this for years and to finally have it and know it's being made by a company I trust to make good games. 100% full support on this title.
I am so incredibly excited for this game. Everything looks perfect and I love that option to play the game in film-grained black and white. I am definitely going to play with that feature for my second playthrough. Also I wouldn’t mind some, as you called them, “generic” side-quests. I really do enjoy them if there’s not too many. Visually this game looks phenomenal. Every time I play Second Son I am always in awe with how beautiful Seattle is in that game I can’t believe that I don’t see that many people praise it. The only thing about Ghost of Tsushima that I want to say is that I just hope that we can turn off combat weapon effects like that sword slash and arrow trail.

I totally agree. I do wish there was a new tenchu game one day. I really enjoyed tenchu z, it's the same kinda missions over and over but damn i had fun with it. A remake of the original tenchu from the ps1 would be awesome too.

There are multiple enemies that need you to change your combat stance while you continue to dodge or parry until you find the right moment to strike. Nothing at all like the brainless combat in the Arkham games, nor the combat of Assassin's Creed.
Can we all appreciate how Sony seems to give the Ps4 a worthy farewell with titles like this releasing at its end. Man this console was soo good in terms of titles. I hope Sony can keep the pace with the ps5 .
Sony already has all their line ups. HZD 2, GOW 2, Spider-Man 2 and that’s just the few. PS4 proved to be one of their best console gens. With the tech of the PS5 already at huge level in terms of specs and capabilities. We’re in for a treat the next 7-8 years.

Most of the time the "What you see is what you get." quote doesn't translate well to video games. But whenever it's a Sony first party game, it literally is what you see is what you get, and I'm getting this the day it launches for sure.
This looks amazing, the combat looks tight, graphics are incredible and I really like that you can customize to suit your own playstyle. If the open world is populated and has lots of activities other than fighting and fetch quests I'm sold.
So many games have used “customise to suit your playstyle” and “open worlds” but so often it’s lack luster or just doesn’t add to the game. I hope this one is different
The lone samurai is a lonely road. Looking at how big and vast this game this. I don't expect their to be highly dense population of NPCs or anything of the sort. This is more of a mother nature and bliss feel going on. I kinda like that's it's barren and untouched.
I hope not, I don't like Rockstar's mission structure. I didn't even want to play RDR2 all the way through. It was a western gta to me. The combat was much better but the story didn't keep me interested
You, I like you. I only discovered The Legend of Heroes like 3 months ago, played Cold Steel 1 and 2 before even realizing there was another 5 games prior, am currently playing through Trails in the Sky SC and then the other 3 before I go back and NG+ Cold Steel 1 and 2 and than finally move onto CS3. This series came outta nowhere for me, and I absolutely love it.

One of the biggest flaws seen in blood effects is the lack of blood particle effects turning into ground splatter in which blood volume has to be proportional. They are the first ones I've seen pull it off and it is absolutely fantastic. Everything I see I'm this game I think. "From a technical level all of these effects are standard, from a implementation level it is refined to a incredible degree."
Sold. It's games like this that makes me think about how inferior of an experience assassins creed tend to be. The emphasis on style, theme, immersion, animation and more realistic gameplay in comparison to others is just yes.
The funny thing is, the original Assassin's Creed was all about that. Style (eagle themes, leap of faith, hidden blade), theme (blade in the crowd, man of the people), immersion (you can beat AC1 with no HUD, just paying attention to your surroundings), animations, and fairly realistic gameplay.
@@bloodymares to continue that I always loved how AC had the controller buttons mapped out to actually feel like the controller matched the limbs of the character which further added to the whole simulation thing. Just the little things they did at first
We’ll see how it is. Looks good so far, I just hope it’s a long game. The great thing Ubisoft has been doing with AC games lately like Origins and Odyssey is increasing the length of their games by adding more content. With all the dlc Odyssey took me about 180 hours or so to completionist it so I hope this is long too!
For a while, they were pumping out AC's every other year. Which led to lackluster games. So, Sucker Punch is kinda taking that concept and knocking it out of the park here. Weighty movements but looks like you can traverse easily. Fluid combat, jumping in and out of it. Leaning more to RDR but with swords and aesthetics.
Not joking, I fucking love those little details like that, they help with the immersion a lot, sadly few games go as far as to include those small things.
We have experienced so much disappointment and uncertainty lately, that I find myself afraid to believe that this game could be the ideal and long lost experience it promises to be. If only...
I really hope that the ai is great. I already see enemies staring at walls and not really are at their toes. I really dislike that. Everything else I've seen, is amazing.
Yeah the combat is my greatest fear. Only time will tell though. This is likely a "roller-coaster" ride kind of thing they set up here using everything they have available to them in the engine to create a nice little overview of what's possible. Since ai relies heavily on everything around it being as it's supposed to be, this could be something that is actually better in the final product. Showcases like this almost never come without the use of dev tools, and dev tools almost always have effects on gameplay.
Zionix barely. The game will be ready to ship soon. Like really soon. I mean I don’t think anything looks off with the game like some others do but I can understand some of the complaints. I just hope that we can have the option to turn off the special effects like the blade slash and the arrow trail.

I feel like the Japanese voice actor for Zoro in One Piece has one of the most recognisable voices ever. Soon as I hear him Im like "yup, thats Zoro" lol
@Fg 98 It is because the Ghost combat system gives them that Assassins Creed vibe (specifically those prior to the redesign of the combat system). Can I blame them, not really, since there are some similarities like the one-hit-kills and the assassination from above.
What I really loved about this combat, is that as a Samurai, Jin fights honorably, he strikes them, and at the end of the fight, cleans his blood off the blade, and also bows as paying respect to the departed enemy warriors. While as a ghost, Jin simply murders them, and does not care about cleaning his sword nor any respect for the mongols!
Dude! This is like the Assassin's Creed game I've always wanted Ubisoft to make! Not because it's set in Japan but more because of the gameplay and the stealth. This is more Assassin's Creed than Assassin's Creed!

@@Legion849 I agree that Desmond going along with the Present stuff made it far worse because it added back story and meaning to the musical side of it. But For the most part AC 3, Black Flag (not really a Assassin's Assassin creed but it played like one) and Rogue which is kinda a evolution of Black Flag and played more of from the Templers side of the story. Buy Unity onwards was pure shit full. I enjoyed AC 1 to Rogue, everything else is Garbage
@@Karv3r ...You know, when you are a samurai fighting against an invasion...killing their supply lines is a pretty important thing. Calling it generic or filler just cause like any numerous, intelligent group they have a bunch of those supply lines, just shows your lack of...aptitude... Do you stop going to parties after the first one or two in your life cause "you already did it"?! Do you stop eating given type of food "cause it's just filler"?! No. Certain things just need to be done in numbers. Why would in-game characters be exempt from it?! The quests that are 'filler', are the ones like "You are a warrior and a total stranger, chasing after a rabid murderer, but be a dear and go to the guy on the other side of the street to buy me a bottle of wine for cooking, while I waste my time standing here forever until you do.". People do not do basic chores for random strangers, that give them literally nothing of worth...and no one sane would even ASK another to have them do the chore, if doing it themselves would have been cheaper, faster and better.
@@kikixchannel Pleasse someone get this person a therapist. Also when you're talking about a game or movie generally there needs to be some thematic elements that engage the player/watcher. There's a fine line between realizism and filler/repetitive quests. Those filler quests could be given more meaning. Insert a bit of story or even give each area a boss and a sense of lore. That could improve that aspect dramatically. The game won't be good with fetch quests and filler, but if it did more than that and made what normally would be filler memorable and thematically part of the whole game then it would make sense. There's a difference between a video game samurai doing some "realistic" task. Then a game that just happens to have a samurai doing something realistic while encountering a memorable enemy or going through a change in their journey.
This game reminds me of the same feeling I got when I first watch the game play demo for Witcher 3. It's beautiful, fantastical and makes you feel like a hero from an epic tale. Hope it blows up like the Witcher series.
Witcher 3 has extremely well written quests, characters, and story. Probably the best thing going for it, and it's the very same thing we haven't seen for this game yet. Like Yong said- main concern for this game is that the story/ quests/ characters fall into being generic. Hope that's not the case.

NDOMAKONG SUH Square Enix did a perfect job on this one. In final fantasy 7 remake if you choose Japanese or English they will completely change their lip sync and even facial expression.. but we have to realized that sucker punch is actually a small studio not like Square Enix with a huge budget behind it.

I had such a good feeling about this game when I first saw it advertised on the PS Store before it was delayed to July 17th that I'd preordered it months in advance. Needless to say, this is the most hyped I've been for a game since I heard they were remastering Spyro.
A lot of the greenery + lighting together reminds me a lot of the massive graphics overhaul mods for Oblivion. That's certainly a compliment, by the way. It looks gorgeous, and blends together astoundingly well. :D
You must be hard up for games if you find this demo impressive. What exactly is original and interesting about it besides the music? It's an open world game with fighting and a horse. They are a dime a dozen.

While the use here is not technically incorrect, it is defined as "capable of being perceived or measured" and more commonly used to compare two things to each other. Some examples: "When I tried Brand X potato chips and Brand Y potato chips I couldn't taste an appreciable difference in how much salt they put in them" or "I tried on both pairs of sunglasses and neither had an appreciable effect on my vision". So yes, "The grass is very capable of being noticed" is a valid sentence, but it really doesn't make any sense.
I really like that there are different stances. One of the critiques of an older preview was that an enemy had different stances, but the player character just had the one default stance. Makes it much more genuine and authentic.

I just started watching and I had to stop the vid at the wind waypoint thing, it's just too good to not talk about it, it's such a smart way of showing where you have to go without breaking the immersion by looking at some dots or a line on the minimap, and it makes the world look better by making flowers, grass and trees move.

Bumper its like spiderman ps4 when youre walking it quiets down but when you start to run it slowly builds up but when you build up momentum fast and start swinging aggressively then the music kicks up way faster and much more intense, sony exclusives pay so much more attention to detail and convenience

Wow, that's the most impressive gameplay demo I've seen in a long time. Highlight for me: the differences between the types of combat, and the realistic nature of the swordplay (no hack and slash nonsense). Also, magic foxo!
Would be cool if they had a "ronin" playstyle that involved offensive katana gameplay like quick-draw strikes and stuff. Would be a cool trio of defensive, offensive and stealth combat.

I actually see it the other way around, having a background in historical fencing helps me see the nuances of the fighting, it's not realistic by any means, its theatrical. Look the "samurai style" fight again, every blow is exaggerated, with so much weight behind it, and the pauses between each killing blow, all of that comes straight out of samurai cinema, and I fucking love it.
I love how Sony always goes out with a bang at the end of a console era.

Visuals and music really look and sound like a samurai's film, i already loved the setting from the get go. The customisation intrigues me, how you change the gameplay based on the armor and such sounds really cool. The exploration aspects sounds very interesting too, how you are guided by the wind, and the fact that birds and foxes take to certain unmapped locations. So far what they showed convinced me to give it a shot

I am so incredibly excited for this game. Everything looks perfect and I love that option to play the game in film-grained black and white. I am definitely going to play with that feature for my second playthrough. Also I wouldn’t mind some, as you called them, “generic” side-quests. I really do enjoy them if there’s not too many. Visually this game looks phenomenal. Every time I play Second Son I am always in awe with how beautiful Seattle is in that game I can’t believe that I don’t see that many people praise it. The only thing about Ghost of Tsushima that I want to say is that I just hope that we can turn off combat weapon effects like that sword slash and arrow trail.

If anything it's similar to the combat of Nioh. Did your foolish ass even watch the video? It won't just be one button to press. There are multiple enemies that need you to change your combat stance while you continue to dodge or parry until you find the right moment to strike. Nothing at all like the brainless combat in the Arkham games, nor the combat of Assassin's Creed.
Can we all appreciate how Sony seems to give the Ps4 a worthy farewell with titles like this releasing at its end.

Sony already has all their line ups. HZD 2, GOW 2, Spider-Man 2 and that’s just the few. PS4 proved to be one of their best console gens. With the tech of the PS5 already at huge level in terms of specs and capabilities. We’re in for a treat the next 7-8 years.

The lone samurai is a lonely road. Looking at how big and vast this game this. I don't expect their to be highly dense population of NPCs or anything of the sort. This is more of a mother nature and bliss feel going on. I kinda like that's it's barren and untouched.

I only discovered The Legend of Heroes like 3 months ago, played Cold Steel 1 and 2 before even realizing there was another 5 games prior, am currently playing through Trails in the Sky SC and then the other 3 before I go back and NG+ Cold Steel 1 and 2 and than finally move onto CS3. One of the biggest flaws seen in blood effects is the lack of blood particle effects turning into ground splatter in which blood volume has to be proportional. They are the first ones I've seen pull it off and it is absolutely fantastic.
Everything I see I'm this game I think. "From a technical level all of these effects are standard, from a implementation level it is refined to a incredible degree."
Sold. It's games like this that makes me think about how inferior of an experience assassins creed tend to be. The emphasis on style, theme, immersion, animation and more realistic gameplay in comparison to others is just yes.
The funny thing is, the original Assassin's Creed was all about that. Style (eagle themes, leap of faith, hidden blade), theme (blade in the crowd, man of the people), immersion (you can beat AC1 with no HUD, just paying attention to your surroundings), animations, and fairly realistic gameplay.

We’ll see how it is. Looks good so far, I just hope it’s a long game. The great thing Ubisoft has been doing with AC games lately like Origins and Odyssey is increasing the length of their games by adding more content. With all the dlc Odyssey took me about 180 hours or so to completionist it so I hope this is long too!
For a while, they were pumping out AC's every other year. Which led to lackluster games. So, Sucker Punch is kinda taking that concept and knocking it out of the park here. Weighty movements but looks like you can traverse easily. Fluid combat, jumping in and out of it. Leaning more to RDR but with swords and aesthetics.

I really hope that the ai is great. I already see enemies staring at walls and not really are at their toes. I really dislike that. Everything else I've seen, is amazing.
Yeah the combat is my greatest fear. Only time will tell though. This is likely a "roller-coaster" ride kind of thing they set up here using everything they have available to them in the engine to create a nice little overview of what's possible. Since ai relies heavily on everything around it being as it's supposed to be, this could be something that is actually better in the final product. Showcases like this almost never come without the use of dev tools, and dev tools almost always have effects on gameplay.

Man, I'm seeing inspiration from Horizon Zero Dawn, RDR2, BOTW, AssCreed, all put into one beautiful game. This is gonna be a must buy.
What I really loved about this combat, is that as a Samurai, Jin fights honorably, he strikes them, and at the end of the fight, cleans his blood off the blade, and also bows as paying respect to the departed enemy warriors.
While as a ghost, Jin simply murders them, and does not care about cleaning his sword nor any respect for the mongols!

But For the most part AC 3, Black Flag (not really a Assassin's Assassin creed but it played like one) and Rogue which is kinda a evolution of Black Flag and played more of from the Templers side of the story. Buy Unity onwards was pure shit full. I enjoyed AC 1 to Rogue, everything else is Garbage

@@Karv3r ...You know, when you are a samurai fighting against an invasion...killing their supply lines is a pretty important thing. Calling it generic or filler just cause like any numerous, intelligent group they have a bunch of those supply lines, just shows your lack of...aptitude...
Do you stop going to parties after the first one or two in your life cause "you already did it"?! Do you stop eating given type of food "cause it's just filler"?! No. Certain things just need to be done in numbers. Why would in-game characters be exempt from it?!
The quests that are 'filler', are the ones like "You are a warrior and a total stranger, chasing after a rabid murderer, but be a dear and go to the guy on the other side of the street to buy me a bottle of wine for cooking, while I waste my time standing here forever until you do.". People do not do basic chores for random strangers, that give them literally nothing of worth...and no one sane would even ASK another to have them do the chore, if doing it themselves would have been cheaper, faster and better.

Also when you're talking about a game or movie generally there needs to be some thematic elements that engage the player/watcher. There's a fine line between realizism and filler/repetitive quests. Those filler quests could be given more meaning. Insert a bit of story or even give each area a boss and a sense of lore. That could improve that aspect dramatically. The game won't be good with fetch quests and filler, but if it did more than that and made what normally would be filler memorable and thematically part of the whole game then it would make sense. There's a difference between a video game samurai doing some "realistic" task. Then a game that just happens to have a samurai doing something realistic while encountering a memorable enemy or going through a change in their journey.
This game reminds me of the same feeling I got when I first watch the game play demo for Witcher 3. It's beautiful, fantastical and makes you feel like a hero from an epic tale. Hope it blows up like the Witcher series.

Witcher 3 has extremely well written quests, characters, and story. Probably the best thing going for it, and it's the very same thing we haven't seen for this game yet. Like Yong said- main concern for this game is that the story/ quests/ characters fall into being generic. Hope that's not the case.

NDOMAKONG SUH Square Enix did a perfect job on this one. In final fantasy 7 remake if you choose Japanese or English they will completely change their lip sync and even facial expression.. but we have to realized that sucker punch is actually a small studio not like Square Enix with a huge budget behind it.

Man, I wasn't too interested in this game, I just didn't know much about it, but now it's looking like a day 1 buy for me.
I had such a good feeling about this game when I first saw it advertised on the PS Store before it was delayed to July 17th that I'd preordered it months in advance. Needless to say, this is the most hyped I've been for a game since I heard they were remastering Spyro.

A lot of the greenery + lighting together reminds me a lot of the massive graphics overhaul mods for Oblivion.

While the use here is not technically incorrect, it is defined as "capable of being perceived or measured" and more commonly used to compare two things to each other. Some examples: "When I tried Brand X potato chips and Brand Y potato chips I couldn't taste an appreciable difference in how much salt they put in them" or "I tried on both pairs of sunglasses and neither had an appreciable effect on my vision". So yes, "The grass is very capable of being noticed" is a valid sentence, but it really doesn't make any sense.

I really like that there are different stances. One of the critiques of an older preview was that an enemy had different stances, but the player character just had the one default stance. Makes it much more genuine and authentic.
First scene with character walking for a second. Already more valid than Xbox interpretation of "gameplay."
