@@yellowbirdie7182exactly, ryuzo literally damn near had an army of mercenaries and youre telling me they can't kill animals for food? The betrayal was 100% because of ryuzos envy and resentment towards jin for the duel they had
I love laying in bed with the fan blowing in my ear, watching videos like this in the dark. It’s pretty much my favorite thing in the world right now lol. video game retrospective vids are the best
I can’t be the only one that actually likes yuna she actually saves Jin multiple times, once at the beginning of the game, and another time when he gets poisoned in act 3 by a dart, she sacrificed a lot for him.
Thank Youuuuuu, I haven’t really see anyone go into this much detail for games. Replaying it right now and this is perfect to better understand the story ❤
Another excellent deep dive, Cynic. I've enjoyed all your Tsushima vids. I don't have the empathy for Ryuzo that you do, but I appreciate the work you put into this.
I don't either but it's more indifference than not like i like the story i couldn't get a few more missions i might have cared more but i do like his character i was more angry on lady masako cause I lost everything I got with her only to kill witnesses threatening people and tried to kill me after i helped her 7 time raised her when she was shot by 20 arrows and kept her from being overwhelmed.
He and Miyamoto Musashi have a lot in common when it comes to going against samurai tradition; That's definitely someone he should come across and learn from in the sequal, The video game was awesome through-and-through one of the best I've seen and played thus far, (next to red dead redemption 2) keep up the good work sucker punch; As far as the character of jin sakai goes I do not consider him a hypocrite or a tratior to honor at all, He continued to show himself to be the most honorable, more so than his uncle due to the fact that he valued innocent lives more than the need to appease the rigid dogma of the bushido code for the sake of his uncle and the shogun, they were facing an enemy that was using their code against them to take over the land and the people and jin saw no other choice but to break away from that in order for his people and his country to survive the murderous onslaught of the mongols, Thus it forced him down a path that he was Initially resistant to but ultimately embraced for the good of everyone Which in turn has made him a beloved living legend among his people as well as tsushima's very own japanese zorro, He may have sacrificed and lost everything because of the harsh choices he was forced to make, but he also gained a whole lot more from his willingness to sacrifice and lose everything for the greater good of all and he for a video game character has my utmost respect for that. His uncle however is the villain of his own story because he was willing to sacrifice an innocent woman like jin's friend yuna to the shogun and blame the poisoning of the mongols on her; something a man of honor should never do, so I personally don't care about lord shimura's pain, he deserves it and what better way for him to suffer more than to be spared and live with the humiliation of having his own nephew and "son" go on to become a better person and greater legend than him, the shogun and the entire class of the samurai. LONG LIVE THE GHOST!!! 🔥💯😉😁👍
...so i'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're an uneducated teenager at best, because the worst case scenario is you're an adult with a fully-functioning brain and that frightens me. first, the absolutely asinine hope that jin could or would ever 'meet' miyamoto musashi, the guy who lived a whopping three hundred and thirty years after jin. i'm just gonna chalk this up to either wildly misunderstanding the lore, being historically inept, or somehow believing jin gained immortality. second, oh my god please learn how to space your damn paragraphs, this was a slog to read through. third, honour back then and honour now are different things entirely, and almost always down to a cultural phenomenon that i don't have the time or patiehnce to go into. honour back them would have been upholding the code you swore yourself to, even if that means sacrificing a whole island to bandits and rogues, or putting down a rebellion by killing whole families, or, in this case, refusing to help a single person and providing the whole of Japan with a scapegoat to throw at the mongols to buy more time. granted, shimura didn't need to do that, he could have let jin face the consequences of his actions, but he did this little thing called 'love his nephew', you might have heard of it. he loved the boy like a son, of course he's going to love him so much to try and make jin into the perfect model of samurai, which back then was basically the dream job. of course he's going to use a thief and a murderer as a scapegoat to give his basically-son a chance at redeeming himself in the eyes of those around him. this isn't being a villain, it's being selfish and honourable - for the time - all at once.
One thing I did love about Iki Island DLC, is that it shows something rarely shown in media, or even talk about IRL. How one person acts as a parent/family vs how they act as a commander (or in this case clan leader), Kazumasa (I wreck the name) goes full crazy on the people of Iki, regardless if they are innocent or not. Yet, pre DLC, Kazumasa is barely mentioned, and what is talked about its that is that he was a honorable man. Meanwhile for everyone else Kazumasa would be a sociopath who would fit in a secret state police that would erase everyone from existence just because some random person hide a random low level smuggler. It shows the reality of people: For some, you may be a hero. For others, you are the biggest POS that ever touch planet earth. Maybe that adds why Lord Shimura insisted so much to Jin to stay honorable, maybe he feared Jin turning into a similar Kazumasa, and who could blame him.

Man hearing how interested you’d be in a sequel and knowing today the sequel doesn’t even have Jin in it…..😮💨 RIP Jin
