It's admirable to see someone young, like yourself, wanting to live an "authentic" life, and not be a cog in the machine, as it were. Hundreds, if not thousands, of books have been written that lament the prospect of spending your life under the employ of some soul-sucking 8-to-5 job, detached from you own desires and aspirations. New viewer and best wishes to you.
You can't give up this fast.... .. it takes time to get a channel up and running. I've watched and learned about TH-cam fur about 4 years now wanting to start a channel then my mom got sick and everything is on hold for now . But. Everyone says it takes a couple years to get enough subs to get anything at all. Just video and put them on here. From the smallest things like getting gas and supplies to actually sailing . .. yes you can upgrade and get a better underwater camera eventually. But we all start somewhere.
Thanks for the positivity but I’ve seen people that keep putting up videos from there cockpit for years and it just gets stale and never goes anywhere, I’ll keep making em until the absolute last day that I can though, I still have a few months of money left though there’s still more to come lol
And any dream has sacrifices. . I was raised at camp mack on Kissimmee river very poor side of town and I WOULDNT CHANGE ANY OF IT FOR ANY MONEY. DEF WILL BE HEADED TO BLUE WATER AFTER MOM ... GOOD LUCK
This is my dream!! I think about it day and night for the past 7 years! I totally get it. Congratulations on getting the boat! Thats the most important step ❤
@OffgridOceanLife I totally get that! It consumes me! I just need a boat and then I feel like everything else can be figured out. Hawaii and then French Polynesia are my obsession!
There will be more going on in my other episodes, I was dealing with strong winds the whole week and only had one day to shoot and edit this :/ and I took the time to answer the main questions I always get asked
You'll figure it out. My husband and I sell insurance on-line and make a very good living. We sail 6-months a year and began with using the wifi from hotels. We moved to Starlink for RV and eventually Starlink marine. The technology is rapidly evolving. It is expensive, but you'll get there.
SLV went back to work for one year before going full time sailing. Hang in there. If you have to go back to work for awhile don’t look at it as a failure, just look at it as a stepping stone. You know how much it will cost to stay out there and that will make working easier because you’ll have a goal figure to work toward. That’s worse case scenario of course.
Crazy is who does not chase a dream! Keep pushing no matter what man! I read this phrase this morning “Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.” Keep going!! 🙅🏽♂️
If you want youtube to work, i think you should absolutely not stop. Even if you can't do as much, keep going. People will forget or move on, or whatever. Don't stop. You jumped off and are going for your dream, keep going. Maybe youtube shorts could help you gain attention. I imagine an ocean passage would be good. Go to Cuba, or the bahamas. It's perfect time to go to the bahamas, isn't it? There are several types of remote work that you could do with a computer. You can set up a business and charter people, take people fishing or diving. Think about advertising.
Yea I hear ya man I looked into all that I had shorts when I started but they hurt your long videos bad, all bigger creators have separate channels for them.you need a captains license a commercial boat and insurance to charter people and I’d love to go to the Bahamas but can’t work there without work visas and I would need starlink for online jobs haha appreciate u looking out though

I'm subscribing to help out a little bit. I'll watch your videos and if I like em you'll have a new patron soon. Been planning boat life for over a decade. Kids are grown now and we are gonna make it happen soon. But the sailboat dreams have turned into power boat dreams for now. I work 3 weeks on, 3 off now, VS my old schedule of 6 months on, 6 off. And ya, 6 months 7 days a week was my schedule. Now I'm on 3&3, SOOOO, we are going to do the great loop. Blue collar dude trying to do retired ppl stuff before retirement. Lol I got hope for ya man. But, if you're not making videos it's kinda hard to support ya. Why not sail somewhere, work a month or 2, then sail off to the next one?
Also. Record EVERYTHING when you're on the boat. Projects, sailing, diving, all of it. Get some footage in the bank, and then when you take a break to make money, use that footage to make videos. Be consistent with releasing 1.a week. Even a 10 minute video. Even a 5 minute video. Get subs, be consistent with it, and you'll succeed. Don't quit releasing videos. That will be your yt downfall from what I've seen. Edit. Work to get at least a few months ahead in your videos. How do you think all the big channels do it? They need breaks too, so, they release 6+ month old footage.
Dang man, awesome advice. Good luck I Hope to see u out here one day and I hope you like the videos and if not tell me why lol I’m trying to get them to be perfect one day ahah. But yea just working just a month or 2 I wouldn’t ever be able to leave US
Right on, Nick! This is a great and inspiring video. A life of freedom is the only way to live. We know that you will be successful in this journey, even if takes a little bit of time.

I watch the Sailing Brothers, Wilding Sailing and others. The cool thing is seeing exotic travel locations and stops and the sails in between to some extent. It would be cool to see this from your channel later on. Another thing is cross pollination by getting yourself on their videos when you meet up in some locations around the world.
Oo yea I’m definitely gonna get there within a year, I can’t wait. The only thing stopping me was money but I think I might have that figured out now :)

Glad you're following your dream! Also, I watch a few different channels and most of them are at least a month behind with their footage, give you some leeway with having days/weeks that aren't that interesting, I'm no expert, just thought I'd share. I also know a few different people that do sailboat/boat deliveries for work (captain or crew), they often (with permission) can film and edit that footage for their channel too, you would obv need certain licenses, but could be another idea :) Fair winds!!
